Just to let you know that Windows 10 is free if you don't activate it.
Not free, you pay for it with headaches and downtime  Grin
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 2.7c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Windows) on: March 08, 2018, 03:57:06 AM
Hi, I cannot do anything because Windows defender detect a virus and delete everything.https://ibb.co/iBhNDS
Is it possible to fix it in 2.8 please ?

It's not the dev's fault, disable windows defender.

Computex Taipei

Wtf, they are at computex showing off it's 13 PCIE potential, yet they don't fill up the PCIE slots? Someone needs to get fired...

Windows driver doesn't support more than 8 AMD, although they could probably have used 5 NV + 8 AMD

fast question anybody running 6 or 7 card rigs?

I was wondering if I should try to run a rig with a lot of cards.

Biostar Z170 Racing/6GPU/W10/G4560

1 1070, 5 1060 3GB, all OCd

~440 H/s on 1070@77% powlim
~285 H/s per 1060@75% powlim

Did you enable above 4g decoding in bios (if you have that option)

Awesome! Is that an Rx470 with a 6+1 phase VRM?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Which altcoin is worth for mining? on: March 30, 2017, 01:14:46 AM
Also mycryptobuddy.com, https://miningpoolhub.com/
Not that hard to google these things.

You'll want RX470s for best overall value.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: MSI RX470 (Samsung) IS BEST PROFIT for gpu mining 29.2 MH/s on: March 30, 2017, 01:11:20 AM
Samsung is not the best, I have 3 Elpida 470s dual mining at 30-31.

Thanks
Already answered in post #9. Turn on the second PSU (hooked up to cards only) first.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash AMD GPU Miner v12.4 (Windows/Linux) on: March 24, 2017, 12:10:32 PM
Is it normal for the wattage to slowly increase the longer you run the miners. And is it normal for the wattage to go up and down in a range and not a constant rate. This happens on all algos but for ZEC it will start around 540 watts go between say 580 and 540 then range will slowly will go over 600 watts. My PSU is 600w EVGA bronze which  I is why I'm concerned. Is this normal or is there something wrong. Also is 550 to 600 watts normal for 3 470's, seems high.
yes, efficiency is higher at lower temps and system will draw more power as heat builds
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sapphire rx 470 red box original or not? on: March 13, 2017, 07:09:29 AM
I really doubt that counterfeiters would miss a detail that significant, you should buy one to try if they accept returns.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gigabyte rx470 g1 mining good on: March 12, 2017, 12:05:48 AM
they are fine in cooling performance as long as you don't get a lemon.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 20 yo student wanting to invest (need advice) on: March 07, 2017, 12:48:38 AM
Would recommend reference cards, the shit sleeve bearing fans on AIB cards weren't made to last and Tahiti cards are old by now.
If you want to get 470s, MSI Gaming, Sapphire Platinum (reference) and Visiontek (reference) are good for mining, they have high quality fans that won't fail.
Try to avoid hynix ram, it overclocks the worst.

1060, 3x sol/s at 2x power vs 750ti
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Liquid cooling for GPU miner on: March 02, 2017, 01:32:02 PM
Yes, farms would probably be our target segment. Any recommendations for penetrating that market? Is this where the farmers hang out, or are there other more specialized forums?

I would say large scale miners are a rarity in the US, and most of the time even they optimize for cost over stability.

Here is what one might look like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LR8cpsc66I8&t=172s

Mining is different from server applications because 100% uptime (and often fire safety and proper cooling) isn't a primary concern for many if it means cost savings. This is because miners need to ROI as fast as possible, not only due to the volatility of crypto prices, but also new hardware making old hardware obsolete or unreasonably inefficient (rising difficulty).

Generally, people who mine at a large scale do it in cold regions in China, where electricity is cheap and exotic cooling isn't necessary. Put bluntly, I don't think it is feasible to get miners to pay a premium for liquid cooling.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Ryzen hashrate? on: March 01, 2017, 01:48:56 AM
Considering the Ryzen chips dont even come out for 2 more days I doubt you will find an answer right now.

nah, you can already buy them at least in my country - http://imgur.com/a/lobM2

Those must be preorders, or else more benchmarks would be posted besides a couple of low quality leaked screenshots and AMD sourced numbers.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 4gb Epilda on: March 01, 2017, 01:45:20 AM
You don't have to pay for modded BIIOS. Yu can find one on Youtube. Search for "buriedone elpida" video. Its very good. I'm using it myself. I can get my Nitro up to 31MH/s. You canalso mod the BIOS by yourself. Anorak forum has the tutorial using Hexedit.

Ok so the only issue with this is the rom they provided is only 256, I know atiflash wants 512.

It's not necessary.

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How can I see the temperature of the GPUs when headless? on: February 27, 2017, 09:43:41 PM
Hi,
I am running 5 rigs (each with 6* RX 480 8GB XFX XXX). I am running all of them headless with Teamviewer, for which I had to make the onboard graphic my primary source (and  disabled rendering of the gpu) .

But when I access the rig now none of the software (f.e. GPU-Z) can show me the temperature of the GPUs. Actually I cannot even access the AMD settings/Wattman etc., or control anything without plugging a monitor in.

In my specific setup plugging in a montitor in all rigs everytime I want to look&change something is a big effort. I read about dummy plugs that I could buy to fake a monitor. But even that is not an option right now for me (living on the ass of the world they will not arrive soon) and I am going on a long trip in 2 weeks.

So is there any other possibility to access those settings when no display is plugged in?

BTW the Motherboard is H81 Pro BTC 2.0

Claymore miner's temp monitor should still be functional. At least, I can see the temps in the cli output when I use chrome rdp.
