No decent wallet will only give you one static address. It is both less secure and less private to only be using one address. Wallets should always be giving you a new address every time you click on "Receive". However, that does not mean that old addresses are suddenly unusable. Addresses which you have previously given out, received at, and sent from will still work for all of those things. You can still give it to other people and receive Bitcoin there. You can still use it to sign messages and send Bitcoin if it has any to spend. Your wallet still tracks transactions to and from that address so you can use it multiple times, it just is not recommended to do that, although many people still do. You should however stop using Blockchain.info's wallet. They frequently have bugs and do not provide enough control to the user for you to actually be in control of your Bitcoin. You should use any wallet that is listed on https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-walletThanks a lot on the fully detailed explanation achow101. Hey,
I have been using Blockchain ever since I got into Bitcoin and it generates random addresses every time a payment is sent/received.
I'd like to have a solid BTC address I can sign messages with and keep a track with.
How can this be done ?
Should I be using another wallet for the purpose ?

Taking in fact it's a measly 0.01 BTC I'm not even considering having to provide my account as collateral.

Just because you given loans out to people doesnt mean you are trusted enough to get a loan without collateral. Regardless of the amount. If it can be 0.01 btc or 1 btc, you would want to provide some form of collateral in the event you default. And getting a loan from one or two people doesnt always mean youre trusted, and if thats the case you can ask the previous people if they can lend to you. Good luck! That's why I'm taking my 'chances'. I know it doesn't mean anything but it does mean I have two loan transactions confirmed and repaid, that's what it means. Nah, it's just 0.01 BTC, I won't be rushing people through PM's for that. As I've said I can pay this back tomorrow or in two days so most likely if no one shows up I'll just close this up by tonight. Thank you! |

Unfortunately there's no BTC addy I can use to a sign a message as I use the addresses provided by Blockchain.
The only collateral I have is my Bitcointalk account.
Interested could be discussed and the length of the loan would be 1 week.
I will most likely end up repaying it tomorrow or the day after tomorrow though.

Youre bct account doesnt even worth what youre asking. If you dont have valid collateral, I do not see there being a chance of someone even giving you a sat due to the high risk.
