What. Out of all possibilities a few hours ago, this one seemed the most unlikely.
Tell me about it. I sold at 98.99 with a buy order at 97.89. Looks like I will be taking a loss on that position. Mate, I do small margins trade often but it's nowhere near the quantities you are trading with. With all due respect, I don't think you are doing it on good way and it looks to me you're set to lose lot of money at some time. It's just not right thing to trade 100 coins at 1% margin, you're going to get burned soon or later. It's as friendly advice as it could be. And with the commission fee of 1%, he hardly can make any profit...

Another bump from Chinese state media today: ( Xinhua News Agency) http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1dv4mb/the_xinhua_news_agency_official_press_agency_of/Via Google Translate: Bitcoin has quietly into China. Here is an article from xinhuanet today on the Bitcoin usage in Taobao - the Ebay of China. http://big5.xinhuanet.com/gate/big5/news.xinhuanet.com/info/2013-05/07/c_132363788.htm(You may need a proxy to view the original page) Here are the key points concerning Taobao: 1. Some Taobao shops are also important Bitcoin exchanges. If you search for "Bitcoin" on Taobao, you can find nearly 240 shops doing business in Bitcoin exchange, also a small number of shops are accepting payments in Bitcoins. 2. These shops are located in Beijing, Shanghai and top cities alike and also in some 2nd or 3rd tier cities in ShanDong, GuangXi and Jiangsu. The reporter has also noticed that one of them is a vintage jewelry shop called 5R Antique, its owner said he saw the potential of Bitcoin and believed that there would be more and more people using Bitcoin. You can buy things with Bitcoins on Taobao as of today (This list is compiled by me, not cited from the article) 1. Shoes 2. pesticides 3. microphones 4. phone protection coat 5. cds/ dvds 6. backpack 7. wall decorations 8. outdoor blankets 9. spectacles 10. shirts 11. underwears 12. mobile phone(crappy one though) 13. astronomical telescope 14. Toys 15. LED bulbs (This list is compiled from the first 5 out of the 20 result pages, I don't have the patience to check each page, please forgive me ) The shops as seen are mostly mid-size and small shops. There are also numerous shops selling mining rigs, MtGox coupons and Bitcoin-related stuff. Whether you interpret this as an hype or a good news is entirely up to you. But personally, I don't regard something real and existing as hype. How do they protect themselves from the fluctuations in value of bitcoins? About how they manage the fluctuation in price, I would also want to know too, maybe as the shop owner in that article said, they see the true potential and a long-term uptrend of Bitcoin, so they might be comfortable with the short-term price fluctuation. Do they have a price in bitcoins and one in CNY? Yes, both.

some taobao sellers started to accept bitcoin
This is no news, but I bet 99% of the forum users don't know about this and they probably don't know what is Taobao.
I am 100% bull, both long-term and short-term wise. There was moment when I wanted the price to go down a bit, that was when I had no Bitcoins in my hands. I learned the lesson and never sell all of my Bitcoins ever gain!

Does anybody know if the May 5th. value is accurate? It's showing up as 0.
As far as I can tell, the latest one is always 0. Ah okay. That makes sense then. Was wondering why the searches suddenly dropped down to 0 on Google Trends... But on that chart you can pretty clearly see that China didn't have that big of an impact. Otherwise you would see it in the searches I presume? Although I'm not sure wether Google in blocked/censored in China. It is a common mistake to assume Chinese people use Google as the default search engine, it might be true in the rest of the world, but not in China, they have their search engine called Baidu which accounts for over 80% of total search queries in the country. I have said it many times already on this forum, people keep bringing this up. Even when they use Google, they don't put English words inside the query, try 比特币 and see the result.
Thanks for the charts, most people in China don't use Google though, their preferred search engine is Baidu.

Everything is possible in China, they might ban anything they want on any day. But do you know why most corporations and countries still want to do business with China? Because China is a huge and one of the fastest growing market, the sheer profits alone far outweigh the potential of being kicked out one day. Their media might have made mistakes in the past, but they certainly won't make the same mistake on consecutive days, the guys making those mistakes won't be let alone that long.

The price will be $300 already when China begins to buy. p.s. Chinese have been buying btcs for years, and I am one of them
im so excited about this. please let me know more. what is the reaction amongst your friends. do you think china will realy buy in on this? let us in on whats up over there. im in utah and in a bubble all my own ( some diversity in the liberal parts but you go 25 milles out any direction from the main city and its nothing but white republicans) (not that there is anything wrong with that dont take offense) There have been increased talks on Bitcoin within this and last month well before the CCTV documentary. Some of my friends are already interested in investing some after they know that my pocket is tripled after investing in Bitcoin and after the increased news coverage. They are mostly attracted by the monetary gains more than the fundamental and potential of Bitcoins, but this is the mentality among most people here, they enter for the money but when they do so, they are 100% serious about it.

Here is yet another news article on Bitcoin, today from xinhuanet - a news media in China directly controlled by the party. There are clearly pushing Bitcoin to the public http://big5.xinhuanet.com/gate/big5/news.xinhuanet.com/info/2013-05/06/c_132361304.htmI am not going to translate the whole passage to you all because it is rather long and my English is not good enough to do so. I only translate the sub-headings for you guys, you can clearly see that the whole article is positive towards Bitcoin. Bitcoin fever : Making payment is as easy as blogging(Weibo), the possibility to buy houses in the future Paying with Bitcoins is as easy as blogging(Weibo) There is no 3rd-party controlling Bitcoin 獨特邏輯杜絕偽造貨幣和重復支付 Unique algorithm prevents counterfeiting and duplicate payments 用于捐款能夠公開透明 All donations made in Bitcoins are public and transparent In the next 4 years, 25 bitcoins are mined every 10 minutes Public key and private key in your wallet 交易與“挖礦”全天候進行 Trading and mining Bitcoin non-stopped 總量只有2100萬枚 limited availability of 21 million Bitcoins 24小時都有交易行情 Can trade bitcoins 24 hours a day 一夜能漲幾百 Gain a few hundreds overnight 6000元的顯卡一口氣買了13張 bought 13 display cards each of worth 6000RMB GPU顯卡是基本配置 gpu display card is the most basic requirement 希望用比特幣購買房子 Hope to buy houses with Bitcoins Online shopping websites with Bitcoins in the making The worries of deflation and Ponzi scheme Out of the 10+ paragraphs, only the last one is talking bad about Bitcoin. I can boldly conclude that there should be little to no disapproval of Bitcoin from the party. So, prepare for the stream of hungry Chinese buyers
