121  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: August 15, 2013, 03:14:53 PM
Just a general question.

Is there any practical/technical/security problem with simply printing off and mailing a buttload of cheques to people that request them? Waiting a week or two for a cheque in the mail would be much more preferable to waiting... never... for a bank wire.

Is there other weird fraud that can be perpetrated with a cheque that mtgox wants to avoid? or are they just being incompetent again by not doing cheques?
I suggested that to them, the support simply said NO, when asked why, they simply replied it is not implemented in their fucking process.
Then I question them the reasons, they ignore my questions and no reply is received anymore.

It seems MagicalTux is the only more intelligent guy in this fucking company, all the others are fucking slackers, doing nothing and waiting for the problem to get solved.

Hope that Ken was not using MtGox to convert the bitcoins.  Sad
123  Economy / Speculation / Re: 15 dollar arbitrage between bitstamp and gox right now??? on: August 14, 2013, 08:11:45 AM
Because MtGox is a money black hole, absorbing all your money and refuse to pay back.
The only way to exit is to buy bitcoins there and sent them elsewhere, this explains the consistent buying pressure there.

An arbitrage is meaningless if your money cannot leave, right?

100TH -> 200TH, share price doubled?
Just kidding, do your own maths! Grin

126  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MTGOX has not paid us since 26th of June! on: August 12, 2013, 08:53:24 AM
I did a small wire test to the US and it has been 2.5 weeks and I have not seen it yet

I did a 6 figure withdraw june 17th to usa and still nothing.

I've got a dozen pending transfers, all reporting on gox's history as "confirmed."

So who knows a lawyer in japan? I'm starting to get tired of this.

+1
I will donate 1btc to help any legal action against MtGox.
127  Economy / Services / Re: anyone interested in MTGOX withdraw service? on: August 12, 2013, 08:09:11 AM
In case anyone finally decide to offer such a service, please PM me, I am definitely interested.
I would pay 2% premium with escrow and 4% without escrow(but you have to send me the money first).
128  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt GOX starting to die? on: August 12, 2013, 07:16:53 AM
Happy to see they die, even if I lose money in the process.

Any particular reason why?

Do you think they have a hold on the bitcoin economy?

Because they are withholding a large sum of fiat from Bitcoiners.
In case they would finally shutdown, all the bitcoins held by them will be migrated quickly to all the other exchanges, however the fiat cannot.
The low supply of fiat and a sudden increase in bitcoin supply will cause the price to drop drastically in the other exchanges.
This will lead to a short-term panic bear market for sure.

You guys see this BTCGarden stuff? Another one bites the dust...

32k BTC being refunded.

Hope some end up here.
We might return to the level before the IPO frenzies.
131  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mt Gox wire withdrawal, usd on: August 12, 2013, 03:13:28 AM
3-6 months is a optimistic estimate.
132  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Time for gox to just go out of business. on: August 12, 2013, 03:10:54 AM
The support of MtGox is abysmal.

They only learn to do two things
- apologize, apologize and apologize
- ask you to wait, wait and wait.

For whatever request or proposed solution you made that might resolve the problem, they would only say NO, NO, NO and when asked the reason why, they replied that it is not within their policy to do so.

They are bunch of suckers, slackers who are good at nothing except to disappoint.
133  Economy / Speculation / Re: POLL: Android exploit found and fixed (?), Bullish or Bearish? on: August 11, 2013, 06:23:56 PM
Any found security exploit with Bitcoin is bearish in my opinion.
However, the exploit has nothing to do with the design of Bitcoin, but due to some error with Android's random generator.

Looks like Asicme has a rather bad reputation among Chinese customers..

135  Economy / Securities / Re: [Smidge.Com] - A virtual, actively managed, multi-asset digital currency fund on: August 11, 2013, 07:59:12 AM

Most (meaning 80%+) of traditional investment funds do not beat their compared index (US funds compared to the DOW, etc.). There is a quite a few studies about this. The reason is poor stock picking and horrendous fees (a normal managed fund takes 5% Issue surcharge, 2% admin fee + earnings based fees). That means, you are paying for the fund manager's Ferrari most of the time.

Smidge.Com takes a mgmt fee of 4.5% on dividends only, that's it. The substance of the fund will not be touched. The "magic", meaning our competitive advantage, has been detailed in the Strategy section of the business plan. It describes our capabilities and some of the detailed actions.

What about this?
You were talking about horrendous fees, but now you are given 105,000 shares for free, your cut from those shares + 4.5% managment fees add up to nearly 20%...
136  Economy / Securities / Re: [ActiveMining] The Official Active Mining Discussion Thread on: August 11, 2013, 03:38:42 AM
When this IceDrill IPO Fails (And it more than likely will with >5M Shares left and less than 26 hours left)

There will be >3000BTC that might be put into various other securities including ActM.

Will there be a sharp price increase? Maybe!

That money will probably roll in just like the S.DICE payout, right? Should be any day now.
They might extend the IPO on Bitfunder.
By the way, they had just put up an IPO on BTCT, waiting for approval.
Looks like they are not giving up their plans.
137  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp has taken over MTGOX on volume! on: August 11, 2013, 03:35:03 AM
MtGox sucks. Kidnapping my money for two months and have no desire to payback. They are scammers, robbers.
138  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: August 10, 2013, 05:35:16 PM
I asked MtGox to send my money via a cheque(check) or bank draft to my mail address, they refused without giving a reason.
If the money is really there in their account, how could they be unable to write me a cheque? The only explanation is that they had stolen our money or the money is frozen or they are really a Ponzi.

"The only explanation"? Obviously Mt.Gox will not send paper cheques because of money laundering risk, or the cheque landing in the wrong hands, you know all that.
A crossed cheque can only be deposited into an account with the payee's name, the risks you mentioned are voided.
Google Adsense paid me in cheques too, guess they are money launderers too.
139  Economy / Services / Re: anyone interested in MTGOX withdraw service? on: August 10, 2013, 05:02:57 PM
As the MTGOX is having serious problem in withdrawing usd, I wonder is there anyone interested in (or is there such a service already?) a service like helping you get the funds out of the MTGOX. You send me the bitcoin and I transfer USD to your bank account, or Amazon Payments, or prepaid visa cards, or I pay your mobile phone bills. 3rd party escrow can be used. No Paypal.

This service already exists with Bitcoin-Brokers.

Here is an 8000 view thread discussing the service:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=237164.0

Essentially you withdraw your funds from MtGox in BTC instead of wire transfer. Escrow the BTC with Bitcoin-Brokers who directs cash buyers to make cash deposits into your bank account of choice.

Its a free service to sellers. It gets your BTC off of MtGox immediately and cash into your bank account.

Sellers are getting paid above MtGox for their BTC. This also saves the person from having to pay the wire transfer fees.
Good business model. Sadly, you only support banks in USA and Canada, I could use your service otherwise.
