Even if they did create it, they can't control it.

Proposition: bitcoin security browser addon.

Community would be able to instantly flag pages according to their credibility.

I like this, I like this a lot!

Could it not be made open source and trustworthy, to those worried about keyloggers?

Perhaps a Chrome extension?

Just hanging around the world of bitcoin, visting some links from this forum and a Google alert for all things bitcoin has led to not 1, not 2, but 6 different virus and trojan attacks on my PC. At one point so bad that Avast seemed to give up altogether. I now run AVG, Malawarebytes and Commodo cleaner.

The filth and scum out there hang around bitcoin like flies on shit.

This is the perfect opportunity for the free market to step up and tackle this..

'Come from beyond', what is the actual purpose of your rant?

Just to get people upset or what?

Happily bitcoin doesn't answer to you, nor do the thousands of users. I'm curious though as to the purpose of your post? What are you hoping to achieve?

I heard Silk Road closed down, at least for awhile?

I too have experienced the 'Omigod, it happened! I got bitcoin!' moment, thanks to Battmann.

Thanks!

Interest rates are simply the price of money.

Poor people, pretty much by definition, ARE a greater risk. For poor people in poor countries, money is expensive, in every sense of the word.

But yeah, loans in BTC, considering the fluctuations, would be pretty crazy.

How would one do the escrow thingy?

31  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Beware of PayPal and other reversible transfer services on: April 30, 2013, 11:03:07 AM
Yeah yeah yeah yeah - but who wants to sell me 1.0 BTC via Paypal?

 Grin

I'll pay 10% above mt.gox just for the convenience.

Reason Why:

I'm from the UK, with a UK bank account, yet living in Malaysia (island of Borneo). My bank insists on automatically phoning me with a code number to input online but the system falls flat on its face with a Malaysian phone number. Yes I'm sure there's ways around it, I could buy Linden dollars from somewhere and exchange em somewhere else and all that but I just can't be asked.

The more I look into it the more it gives me a headache!

I just want to buy 1.0 BTC, stick 0.75 of it in my offline wallet, keep the rest for tips and show friends how it works, and to be able to say "I bought me a bitcoin" instead of just talking about the things and driving me wife nutz..

This is me:

www.salescopywriter.net

This is also me:

www.copywriter-ac.com

I regularly receive payments of $1500 to $3500 from Paypal and my reputation online is priceless, so I'm not going to &$#@ you or Paypal around.

Of course trust goes both ways, so preferably someone with a lot of posts/good reputation on here they don't want to lose.  Smiley

Says you?

UPDATE  - Have purchased via Battmann. Yay!

32  Other / Off-topic / Re: Building seamless polymer houses out of single mold? is it possable? on: April 29, 2013, 06:53:39 PM
Plastic is more expensive than you might think.

Yes, such a home would cost in the millions at first, but even if mass-produced it would still be an incredibly expensive method.

On the same vein, if we know so much about food, vitamins, antioxidants and all that stuff, how come no one company simply produces a superfood that is perfect for humans? We could eat nothing but that superfood for a month, getting super nutrition, losing fat etc. Heck, maybe eat nothing but that every other day? Then we'd never have cancer or pimples or anything...

Point is, if the market is there it can happen. If not, it won't.

I don't think there's a market for multi-million dollar plastic homes, when fiberglass yachts are already a thing - and they're mobile too.
33  Economy / Marketplace / Re: What are your sellable skills? on: April 28, 2013, 09:03:50 PM
Sales copywriting - but hey, that's online too, so I don't count or something?

See http://www.copywriter-ac.com or the shorter version - www.salescopywriter.net

I charge $1500 per project, willing to accept $1000 of that in BTC, at whatever the rate happens to be at the time, unless it's a bitcoin-centric business in which case I'll discount to $1250.

34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Blocksize Problem Video on: April 28, 2013, 07:17:25 PM
I know and understand nothing of the technical stuff you guys are talking about. I will say this though...

Complaining about the micro-transactions of some gambling site, or saying it's not what bitcoin was designed for, is meaningless unless you have an effective and practical plan to put a stop to such activities.

If there is no such plan proposed then you (we) need to presume such things will continue and work around them.
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So let's say we solved the magical problem of centralized exchanges... on: April 28, 2013, 06:38:23 PM
Localbitcoin is a great idea but I have a total of one person in my area - and it's me.

Next nearest is a 1 hour flight away.

I like the idea but it's nothing like a replacement for exchanges.
36  Other / MultiBit / Re: MultiBit on: April 26, 2013, 07:33:39 PM
I don't own a single coin yet, just looking at my options before pulling the trigger and buying. Smiley

So if I disconnect this PC from the net, create a new wallet with Multibit, inc password, then reconnect to the net, is there *anything*, anywhere, in the way of an unencrypted key? Anything in any temp folder, cache, anything like that?

Or in simple terms, is Multibit now as secure as the QT client or not? Or more secure?

(and I cannot use armory for various technical reasons)

thanks
37  Other / MultiBit / Re: MultiBit on: April 26, 2013, 07:01:34 PM
OK, thanks.

Is there any way of importing an address?

I created an address offline with that bitaddress thing, and am keeping my key offline. Is it possible to use multibit to see my balance for that address, even if it can't send/spend?

38  Other / MultiBit / Re: MultiBit on: April 26, 2013, 06:40:13 PM
Forgive the silly question but where it says 'add password', is that the encryption? And is so just how strong is it? Is it the same kind of 256 bit thingy as the main bitcoin QT thingy?

Thanks
39  Bitcoin / Armory / OSX 10.8 Version doesn't work with 10.7 on: April 26, 2013, 06:13:05 PM
Shocking.

And now I know that it takes an old Macbook Pro 28 hours to sync a new install of the bitcoin QT thing.   Shocked

Men are also at a disadvantage against a stronger aggressor.

Why bring feminism into it?
