There aren't any miners connected yet as far as I can see. I'd like to do some comparisons - What is everyone's favourite pool?
42  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: High Volatility in Cryptocurrency Market on: July 04, 2019, 09:34:39 AM
Buy low, sell high!

Not just in a generic cover-all kind of statement but - seriously follow the ebb and flow and get in, get out... but always keep some. If you're not sure.. only sell half. Buy more the next time around.
There's always a next time. Or someone's next time, at least.

And we are back to the R4 design. Might as well pick those while they still exist...

Or someone design a case that takes two or one S9 hash boards with a scroll fan.

The R4 was actually like two S9 hash boards, but the boards are physically different (wider).

Perhaps something interesting could also be done with the newer MicroBTs or Ebangs, using a single board.

I actually did this combining salvage parts from an R4 and S9s. The controller was somewhat compatible but the R4 I had was finicky. It did cool it but the arrangement of the heatsincs and the shape of the s9 boards just didn't like how the r4 was shaped.

It did work out of the case and severely underclocked with a few angles but the R4 blades fit just so. I'll eventually post on the quieter S9 fan stuff I'm working on if I can get it to look nicer.

>~<

Yeah - the Franken-appearance turns most away - I just want it to work.. but a nice finish does it well.

These projects, given enough money and engineering and .. phew. These are the projects of the future. Maybe. Tomorrow. Someday.

Buy it for the Binance trading discount and always keep a little extra for investing!

Paper wallets. Generated offline.

Yes.

When though.. before the 8th? Eh.. it might draw back more. Many "experts" are expecting another pull back of 3-4k before a larger spike.
Investment and industry interest vs retail interest - it's getting more well known this cryptoverse but you'll know it's "Mainstream" when Walmart has paper wallets for sale.
(Obviously more likely would be a virtual WM coin or something. I just like physical wallets.)

Actually no - that's not correct, if you mine half the time then you expect half the reward - if you mine 90% of the time then you expect 90% of the reward
The 'ramping' only affects time to change your reward (up or down) but if it's going up and down all the time it still evens out
Ah, I may misunderstand how it will appear as hash rate on the pool.

Downloaded wallet - It synced very quickly!
Interested in mining, How does one get started?
Is there a hardware comparison page?
Thanks!

"...I dont know if with kano pplns can get some more reward than pps in other pool. Can you guide me? thx  Wink"
You may have a difficult time on PPLNS with fluctuating hash rate if the down time is longer than a few hours at a time.
Your overall hash rate will not reach your maximum potential if you have connection losses.
If you are use to PPS you could be on and off and other than higher fees be mostly OK.
Kano's pool is great. If your miners stay on for the majority of the time it shouldn't be any issue. Your hash rate will be an average of your up vs down time.
Good luck!

bump - Instead of starting a new thread  Roll Eyes - Did you figure out why it was hashing so slowly?
You can also ask on servethehome forums. They are using their servers to mine monero.
Thanks - might check it out.

Block by allan626! Cheesy

Welcome to the Acclaim Board with your 1st Kano Block! Cheesy

It's nice to see a 'smaller' miner get a block!
Still way more hash than I at the moment.  Grin
54  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Solar Powered Bitcoin Lottery on: June 28, 2019, 11:44:44 AM
If you are able to generate solar energy and you use it for a fruitless mining endeavor, you are in fact losing money as you could be using that energy to reduce your electricity bill or selling it to the provider to make some cash.

The smaller USB miners require almost zero electricity, so they're likely using solar to power that little bit. It wouldn't be enough to power much else (so no selling excess back, no reducing usage elsewhere).

This one.

Yes there are better uses for 'solar' but there is a minimum to useful grid-tie sort of setups which could cost a lot to get properly set up.
(Not to mention the potential legal ramifications depending on where you are.)

The purpose would be putting to use smaller miscellaneous hardware not currently being used in a more logical or profitable arrangement.

I've got the basics laid out for a simple and inexpensive experiment and If I can figure it out I'd like to post photos here later. Thanks for the comments and feel free to suggest complications. That makes it fun.
55  Bitcoin / Project Development / Solar Powered Bitcoin Lottery on: June 27, 2019, 04:19:10 AM
Instead of calling it Solar Powered Bitcoin Mining it's more of a lottery as it will be mining solo with older hardware.
There are a few other projects like this but what I'm working on is pretty straightforward.

Before any details, I am not suggesting you will:

"Get rich quick" from this
"Get rich slowly" from this
Mine any profit
have any other logical end point inferring gains other than informational freedom from this project - at all.

This project is simply to put a use to old hardware that many miners have laying around the shop or office.

Early stages of the project will simply have a solar powered USB miner with controller mining in sunny parts of the day attached to a laptop. (Lottery - solo mining.)
Further progress will have a battery bank to supply 24/hr mining on solo pool - lottery style. A large enough panel and bank would also support laptop or controller power.
Eventually an entirely off-grid approach with 'miner', controller/computer/laptop wireless connected in a set-and-forget setup.

Cellular connection would be useful for solar lottery rigs which are too far for WiFi to reach. (The tricky and expensive bit - which will likely never break even, but sounds interesting nonetheless.)

Thanks for reading, and any input, thoughts or ideas are appreciated.  This is for learning and BTC entertainment purposes only.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Returnbit [RBIT] [SCRYPT] [POW] on: June 24, 2019, 11:28:45 AM
Wow, what happened?

had to shut my rig off over the Xmas period, for 2 days, and never re-synced after that.
Yobit still trading, but no way to get peers from them, so cannot connect to official chain.
Having said that, Yobit, now have wallet in maintenance anyway, so i think its pretty much dead....

Shame

Perhaps this and other coins will come out of hibernation around the price rising following BTC. Other than the coin being Script - which I still like - it could come back to life.

58  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Quiet [36 dB, 8 THs/500 W] Hotmine Convector Miner. Product Overview on: June 24, 2019, 07:43:16 AM
An S9 Running a single board or two with a fan bypass modification + scroll fan will be much quieter and achieve relatively quiet-ish heating performance with better output range than an ambient radiator would achieve.
But of course it would be hard to market that as a "space heater" in all of it's hacked-together appearance and what not.
I like these projects but would prefer a stronger hash rate.

Would be nice to know if things calmed down at home.
Kano's been reliable. Wink

"powerminingshop" + 5G

Hm.. Are you legitimately using that service and that shipping container or just advertising? I remember hearing about them.
