321  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty Protocol, Client and Coin (built on Bitcoin) - Official on: January 07, 2014, 05:05:46 AM
Okay, I burned some spare change. Where do I see my XCP? Could someone please help  Huh

https://blockchain.info/tx/9a0a7b95604e84fd670f5332e2a0dbe11c0b95aa7958172756f2885f00408522

Looks like you've got some:

C:\Program Files\counterpartyd>counterpartyd address 1HGuoV6CUaqCm8CkWRGffxsp6ABYJK9YDR

Balances

| Asset |    Amount    |
+-------+--------------+
|  BTC  |     Huh      |
|  XCP  | 143.09312727 |
+-------+--------------+

So I need to download the actual client to see my XCP?

For now I guess. I presume some sort of block explorer is coming (if I knew more python, I'd try coding one myself).

PS For the record, we're at a market cap of over $200K right now. NXT launched with 1/10th of that. Not a direct comparison, because Nxt is not PoB.

Don't forget the txindex=1 in your bitcoin.conf
(need bitcoind -reindex)

Thanks, doing that (hence why redownloading processing entire blockchain despite having most of it already)
324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: January 05, 2014, 12:41:14 AM
I'll try to ask OP some serious questions instead of "reserved" or trolling.

1. How is initial distribution to investors handled? How are early adopter incentives structured, if any exist? What proportions of coins are allocated for developers for, well, development (and I assume, bounties and funds for future projects)?

2. How are votes allocated and/or tabulated? If developers control more than 51% of coins, I presume this makes voting worthless? Thus, either the voting scheme is not a 1:1 correspondence with account balances, or the developers control less than 51%.

3. How you you plan to transition voting, distribution, and node trust into a decentralized scheme? What is the time frame for such a transition? What are the conditions (node number, time, exposure of coin to wider audience) necessary for such a transition to go smoothly?

328  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: December 30, 2013, 03:55:59 AM
A lot of people are hating on SkyCoin unnecessarily for the coin release mechanism, or rather, the lack thereof, but ultimately that is short-sighted. The project is open source therefore, if you don't like the system, fork it and make it better. Honestly, I would like to see a fair coin-release that followed the exodus addresss concept MasterCoin implemented. Skycoin offers one possible improvement—No devopment skycoin's should be created without a vote by skcoin stakeholders. The developers would have to live off the bitcoin raised in the exodus address or bring their projects to vote for additional skycoins. I strongly suggest such a mechanism is seriously considered and personally would not even consider using a system where the developers hold all / most of the coins (like Ripple) and release them to exchanges or partners

If that is true, then I will most definitely consider an investment. This also indirectly addresses the Nxt/Ripple "problem".
329  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is There Anything Fundamentally Wrong With EarthCoin? on: December 30, 2013, 03:50:39 AM
This thread is NOT for discussing the premine of EAC... that has been discussed to death on many other threads... please do not bring that discussion here.

I am only concerned about the technical side of the coin and how that may affect the coin in a year, 5 years, 10 years, etc.

Very interesting about the number of coins and decimal points... can anyone with more experience or coin algorithm knowledge expand on this?

Thanks!

I imagine the technical criticism is that the # of coins is above 2^31 or 2^32 (corresponding to the maximum value for signed and unsigned longs respectively - which are confusingly called ints in C++ and Java). Thus naive implementations that try to count the # of coins may overflow causing "really bad stuff to happen". Moving to double longs (64-bit) obviously fixes the problem.

This is not even a real criticism because bitcoin has far more than 21 million units, which isn't represented by a long anyways.
330  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will any alt coin reach 1000$? on: December 30, 2013, 03:34:11 AM
Most likely some trash coin with a ridiculously low total pool . Bitbar is the closest candidate?

In terms of market cap though (excluding the famous premines [Nxt, Ripple, Mastercoin])? Probably not.

The fact is that coin value and market cap mean squat when evaluating currencies. Volume (consistent, monthly averaged volume) is what matters.
331  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of all cryptocoins on: December 29, 2013, 10:30:29 PM
Sorting coinmarketcap.com by volume (descending) gives a far better picture of just how "important" each coin is. Even more so if coinmarketcap can implement 90-day average volume. (for new coins, this would be zero for how ever many days before launch).

(Note for example where ripple is on market cap, vs. where it is on a volume basis).

Any bounties on block explorers? I can probably try my hands at coding another.
333  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Disrupting the market with big transactions on: December 28, 2013, 12:02:19 AM
7000 LTC ($154,000 on current prices) is an appreciable, but not really a huge amount. Walls in the millions of $ appear on btc-e fairly regularly. Now 7000 BTC equivalent of LTC (200K) -- that's likely to cause lasting damage.

Interesting.
335  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Locking Heavily Premined Coin Threads? on: December 27, 2013, 05:56:08 PM
Understanding the OP, coins such as Catcoin should be allowed (because no premine) and coins such as Nxt and Ripple should be banned (because 100% premine). While I'm not convinced that any of the above are legitimate, that seems kind of arbitrary.
336  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: *EarthCoin* EAC/BTC GOOGLE DOC Exchange *EarthCoin* on: December 27, 2013, 03:30:33 AM
Selling 20K EAC for 0.1 BTC (a pretty standard price). Send BTC to my address in sig and PM the transaction.

Only planning on selling 20K, and not more right now.

As one of the creators of the Earthcoin block explorer, I assume I have the rep.

Transaction closed, thanks devil505.
337  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: December 26, 2013, 06:27:01 AM

And more and more people in China following my chinese twitter:weibo
http://weibo.com/nxtcoin

They ask questions, query, beg for first NXT,and many other things.

I give them related links and answers as many as possible.
And I believe that, with more and more chinese players participation,NXT will be really rocket.

So,if some bounty are for chinese newbie,it will be very appreciated and helpful for NXT development.
You can give me a bounty link,I will introduce to chinese newcomers.
Or you can give me the NXT,I will redistribute to all the chinese participator.

You've already come up with a name for NXT in Chinese? Should be a long one, something like 那可色特币  hehe?

How about 那下币? 下 as in next...

Just to clarify.

Due to getting so many PM's there's now 3 of us on shifts looking after replies for various things in this account, we're doing our best to stay up to date with all.

So - blockchain explorer:

http://54.203.207.156/earthcoin/index.php  and   http://54.203.207.156:11234/ and http://earthchain.info/chain/EarthCoin < nice branding Smiley

Great work!

Not sure if we need two but I suppose it's good to have one as backup?

We'd still like to get you guys to brand the first one closer to ours, grab the logo/coin and or I can make a header graphic for it, and perhaps make the background a closer blue to ours so there is continuity in the branding.

Can those that worked on these blockchains please PM me we your eac addy and your roles? We asked for two of you but it looks like more outside help came in so we'd like to make sure everyone is happy.

Got a very generous payment, I assume it's from you? Thank you.

Happy holidays!

I like this coin, when it will go to an exchange?

Hmmm no one can answer my question? Is there a plan?

If you just had looked back a few pages you would had found your answer:

Go to cryptsy's feature request forum at https://cryptsy.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/46049 and hit "like this idea"

COME ON GUYS, WE CAN DO IT!!!
We need exchange!

I would rather it waited a few weeks Smiley

Yea, a few more giveaways and services would be good before hitting an exchange.
