101  Economy / Marketplace / WTB Hand holding service (teach me to buy a computer, set up mining program) on: May 02, 2011, 09:02:22 PM
Bid starts at 25BTC. Will pay that amount maximum. Service includes helping me purchase a machine <$1,000 that will eventually pay for itself mining, and teaching me to get it up and running to be able to mine efficiently. I know next to nothing about computers.

Lowest bid with at least some explanation of why you'd be able to help me proficiently, gets it.
102  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Ubitex: In-person Bitcoin exchange [STOCK AVAILABLE] on: April 30, 2011, 06:46:22 AM
I want to buy some but I'm doing a pretty terrible job figuring out how the exchange works. I guess I'll stare at it some more tomorrow and hope my computer skills magically improve.

Are you on windows ?

Yes. Is that prohibitive to using it?

I ran well and martingaled starting at .1 so I'd have quite a few flips w/out busting a large chunk of money. Ran it up to a few BC's. Very addicting, even though statistically i'll eventually bust my roll.

105  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Stock Exchange testing, round 3 on: April 26, 2011, 08:27:31 PM
I'm very new at all of this but I'm looking for the best way to throw a few hundred bucks at bitcoin in the riskiest way possible that gives me potential for the highest upside. I'm no financial expert and basically just want to gamble it up a bit. IIRC there is some sort of stock option where I'm basically buying a few thousand dollars worth of stock (or bitcoin in this example,) but if the price drops to a certain level those few thousand dollars revert back to the client/invester/someone that's not me and I just lose my couple hundred dollars. Can someone explain this to me and tell me if it's possible with this program?

If you're taking a 1% edge, but paying that edge out to referrers, how do referrals benefit you?

Edit: I'm dumb and it's a 2% edge. Still cool.

Ah I was going to ask if it was weighted in the house's favor, but it is... ever so slightly. I'll probably do some martingaleing later to check it out Wink

I'm also part of the twoplustwo community and I just want to chime in to say that coaching from a player of this level is a steal for 40BTC/hour. If you have any interest in poker, this is a great opportunity.

This is bullshit. I hate this country more and more every day.

I'm maybe 3 days into learning about bitcoin and tbh don't even 100% understand it yet, but I can guarantee you that if I could buy physical currency I'd be handing it out by the dollar just for the novelty of it. I think it would be an awesome way to get people interested.

Thanks for all the great ideas. This is probably posted somewhere around here already, but I found this easy to understand video which generated some discussion on my Facebook: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um63OQz3bjo&feature=player_embedded

Hopefully in the next day or so I'm going to buy my first few coins just to see how the process works. If anyone wants to sent me .01, I would definately appreciate the help in breaking my transfer virginity Wink 12sbV1CiKG9qb9jvc8DGroEmhvTawgJ8sC

113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Suggestions for someone new to bitcoin to get involved and contribute on: April 18, 2011, 06:01:05 AM
Since learning about bitcoin I've become completely fascinated with the idea. I want to in some small way, make a difference. What can someone very new to the concept do to lend a hand? I'm looking for any and all ideas or suggestions that an average Joe (without a solid tech background) can jump in, and do something positive for the bitcoin movement. Anything from ways to spread awareness, to small financial gestures, or even sources of information to better educate myself to be able to productively contribute time.

Things I've come up with:

Share information via facebook to raise awareness
Donate a few coins to the faucet

What else?
