41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: May 31, 2017, 10:57:59 AM
As a blooming developer I have been using solidity as geth has a javascript console in the CLI. also you can import .json files. Lisk is intriguing to me as I am more interested in the tech and determining for myself how useful it is from a developers standpoint. What MAJOR differences does it offer? In the future when companies will need developers to manage their blockchains what would make a company choose lisk for their tokens blockchain over ethereum? Once you answer that question then you have a solid answer to lisks future and where it will sit in the emerging blockchain industry.

Here is a text I'm writing for my next video on Wild Promotion Youtube channel. I collected that from forum and Reddit.

"To make a project on Ethereum blockchain you will need to learn programming language called Solidity which is pretty young, unproven language and still doesn't have a big pool of developers.
On the other hand Lisk tends to focus on the JavaScript developers only which is a good decision because it's well known that Javascript pool of coders is huge.
There is an argument out there that you can develop on Ethereum using Javascript but this is only half the truth. At Ethereum you can use JavaScript for the dapp front end, and Solidity for the dapp back-end. So to develop on Ethereum you will still need to learn Solidity.
Ethereum is doing smart contracts which are all saved on one blockchain. If you want to develop a dapp in Ethereum you need to connect the functionalities of several smart contracts.
In Lisk you get a complete package. You don't develop single smart contracts. You build an entire application which is running on its own blockchain. It's like you develop a new crypto-currency platform with an extended feature-set. As a developer you just need to implement the necessary new features on the top of already existing platform.
Another argument which would favour Ethereum and go against Lisk on the first sight is that Javascript uses floating point which means some things get approximated and digits get lost in certain cases.
Founder of Lisk response to that argument is that for big numbers Lisk is using bignumber.js. He says it's not about the language you choose, it's about your coding skills. If you know what you are doing JavaScript is entirely fine.
When it comes to security at Ethereum there are "rules" directly embedded into their compiler, so if the developers do a mistake and the consensus is broken, then the dapp needs a hard fork.
On the other hand at Lisk, developers just have to follow rules, so if there is a problem it's totally fine because the dapp is only running in a sidechain.
This is a huge security advantage for Lisk. If a dapp fails, the Lisk network doesn't even hiccup. However, if one smart contract on Ethereum fails, it can mean game over for Ethereum."

Your not wrong at all and that is a really good point. Solidity contracts have something called gas and it takes a small amount of ether to deploy a contract. I am new to development but i am learning all cryptos as well as solidity. Does Lisk have a feature  where you spend an amount of lisk to deploy a contract? Can any developer with a wallet deploy a sidechain?

Im looking at the source code and im seeing that nodes are hosted on i2p. What prevents someone from hosting a node on the clearnet? would this prevent anonymous transactions? just curious im beginning development and im always looking at coins source code.
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: May 31, 2017, 04:14:24 AM
This is a great coin for geocachers, and a geocaching app that can go mainstream in the Geocaching community is important. This is all happening thanks to the hard work from the dev. Geocoin can REALLY stand apart from othercoins if some sort of FINTECH feature was also involved. Im not sure what that would entail. Just a thought. It would also attract a lot more investors. Maybe help get that article in FORBES.

I invested in Shrembeck fee shares and lost everything i bought a lot to. I thought when Mr. Shrem came back it would moon.Just checked on it but the website is now down and asking for .1 btc just to withdraw. im sure the price has crashed so low its not even worth that much.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ICONOMI - Digital Assets Management Platform on: May 31, 2017, 03:32:46 AM
IF ICONOMI is the hedge-fund of the future and becomes the leading blockchain hedgefund of the new world in the next 10-20 years we can easily see over 1.2 trillion dollar marketcap. I believe if this coin becomes just that we will all be living on the moon in a decade and long holders/accumulators will be rewarded.

These are not unrealistic numbers if you look at what happened to emerging hedgefunds after 2008. If we see another 2008 but bigger and Blockchains are that safety net then we will see some amazing things happen.

So few weeks after the first trading in HMQ, price is somewhat steady. Planning stage I presume because it is so quiet here.

Or perhaps its because there is a 90% premine. I would like an explanation on this before i further invest. Over 10 million Humaniq coins added in the last week, where did they come from and why? Or is the developer dumping every time the price goes up a little bit? Please explain..

I think it is IMPORTANT than investors understand how these premines work. Contact the dev and see if they give a valid reason you are satisfied with. THEN become a investor if your into long term investing like myself. I personally prefer to invest in coins with little to NO premine. However, sometimes a 10%-15% premine is good as it insure the investors the developer has a stake in the coin and is not going to abandon it. I personally would only do a 9% premine if I was developing my own crypto so that investors would know i had incentive to complete the roadmap.

Where I find mining topics? How profitable is mining Burst?

You can try the Burst discord if its helpful come back and give my account a trusted rating. im doing my best to get involved in the community and help as much as possible.
Also a newb developer learning everything about this amazing TECH.

I believe if you believe in BURST than mining should be profitable more in the long term. It really seems like the believers in the tech who hold through all the crazy swings will be the real winners in the long run when we see the moon.

 1) buy and hold
2)mine and hold
3) backup all your wallets off an exchange for a long hold BURST WILL HAVE ITS DAY ON THE MOON! Wink

Hope I was helpful

I really like this coins source code I have been messing with it as of lately trying different things. This crypto is open source correct? I can manipulate the code if i choose to experiment? Im not saying I am going to release a clone or anything and definitely  not anytime soon it just offers a unique way of creating a smart contract.

just scooped up some geo Smiley i think a good use for this coin is sending money to family memeber over seas without using alternative blockchains. "like hey mom dropped off the 600$ paycheck i made outside your front door in geocoin you should see it in that app i showed you how to use"
