542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Loose PCIe cards on: March 06, 2018, 03:50:00 AM
Thanks to everyone for commenting! So after testing various things and trying a LOT of options - I got onto a thread of how you should try to use the GPU for display in stead of the on-board (although the instructions states otherwise)...

After switching this I connected them one for one and got all 6 up in ~15 min! Smiley

You did well.

I read a lot that you should avoid the SATA connections - but was thinking the Corsair Molex ones would be fine (only running 2 per string?)

SATA or Molex was fine to powering a riser, just limit it two riser max for every rail especially for SATA. Relating to the maximum power that those connectors can handle. PCIe connectors safer but will more useful to powering your cards.
543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Gpu0 0 Hashrate After Windows 10 Creators Update on: March 05, 2018, 06:24:16 PM
It seems you are using AMD cards, sometimes dummy output needed, it makes driver can read temps, fan, etc. Also, it would make sure your card working in a right resolution. Basically, it's just a trick in order to make the card into thinking there is a monitor connected when there really isn't. Some case, Claymore can't read temps and fan (purple lines), and this trick would bring back those purple lines.

Don't forget to turn off power savings. It will make system thinks that the monitor always on. For newest cards likes RX series, one dummy plug each rig is enough, just like xxcsu said above, but in old series (R9) sometimes need more than one dummy plug (I experienced with it).
544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1 out of 7 cards turn up as "microsoft basic adapter" after driver update. on: March 05, 2018, 03:43:16 AM
that did it! thanks Alot!!!! Cheesy !

Glad to hear that. Good Luck!  Wink
545  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Loose PCIe cards on: March 04, 2018, 01:44:11 PM
Whenever you buy the PCIe riser pack you will find atleast 2 numbers will not work perfectly. This is the problem for many people so these cards should be changed as time goes.
We need to change the PCIe as time goes and mother board will not be a problem for it.
I see some person above asked for the Motherboard and other details.  Nothing will help except you change the PCIe card.

Troubleshooting isn't simple. We can't judge for sure, that OP problems caused by the Riser without knowing other factors. How if I didn't ask him for additional detail and he turned out to use a PSUs with a small power or may some cards that need to tweak a registry? Will you say for sure that the problem is Riser?

Cool - thanks for the reply. Rig setup:
 - GB H110-D3A
 - 1000w Corsair PSU
 - 6x GTX1060s 3GB
 - 006 powered risers (Molex input)

I updated BIOS to newest (think it is v25) and followed instructions as per their website on settings (mining mode enabled does most of it)

I'm powering the risers on 3 Molex chains

Anything else that is of interest?

Referring to our friend above suggestion, may you need to check your Riser one by one to make sure if one of those Risers causing your problems. You could buy new Riser if one of your Rises didn't work properly.
546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is algo switching worth it for small - medium scale miners? on: March 04, 2018, 09:37:26 AM
In my Opinion  Wink
As long as you do auto-switching in an auto-switching pool, it's okay, why? You will always have a Full Share to that mining pool even when they switch to other algorithms, because all of the switching processes handled by that mining pool.

But then, as you said, peoples including auto-switching pool have an almost same variable for counting profitable coins. Current price, Difficulty, Network Hashrate and so on. What does it mean? Peoples will be pointing to the same coin, and it will increase Network Hashrate which will affect the difficulty. And profitability will cut-off.

Some Old-Miner may be doing something different. Sometimes they do a Solo-Mining with new coins, but of course, they have own calculation method with that. Sometimes they mine the solid coins and hold it for a few time. And many more.

Personally, I didn't do auto-switching. I have a few rig for solid coins and the other rig doing high mobility mining (didn't mean I'm the Old Miner. lol)
547  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Loose PCIe cards on: March 04, 2018, 08:36:31 AM
First, you need to describe more about your devices, such as what type of cards you are using, Motherboard type, PSUs power, etc.

Many factors can be causing your problem, for example.
You PSU didn't have enough power for powering all of your cards.

Motherboard bios setting, if you describe a Motherboard type, may some our friend here can suggesting you some bios setting for those Motherboard type.

GPU Type and series, some cards with certain conditions need an extra trick to make a system can read those card. Ex, RX series with modded bios, require bypassing bios signature.
...
..etc.

Thank you very much! Please update your signature; I made the mistake of not including the hyperlink to the signature that you're currently using.

Done!

(i've mined with all cards and they work)

Sorry, did you said all your card working properly even when one of those card shown as "Microsoft basic adapter" in Device Manager?
551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1 out of 7 cards turn up as "microsoft basic adapter" after driver update. on: March 04, 2018, 05:01:08 AM
Update those card driver manually. Choose "Browse my computer for driver software" then Choose "Let me pick from a list available drivers on my computer" Choose "Have Disk..."  Click browse, (If you are using Blockchain Driver on Win 10) Point it to C:\AMD\Win10-64Bit-Crimson-ReLive-Beta-Blockchain-Workloads-Aug23\Packages\Drivers\Display\WT6A_INF\....You will find Setup Information file, chose it then let the system update your card driver.

Based on my experience, R9 series better using 16.9.2 series.

Hey all, I forgot to include your BTC address for the application. Can you go back and edit your posts to include your addresses?

I'm currently in the process of making a spreadsheet, which I will add to the original post.

Cheers!

553  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig keeps restarting on: March 03, 2018, 07:28:00 AM
I put fan on manual and it solved graphic cards problems...

Glad to hear that.

But where is this "Temperature 4" sensor on MOBO? It goes over 93C

Have you tried other system information utility software? Just to make sure that what shown on HW Info is accurate. If you think what shown in HW info is accurate, you could try this advice.

why not just placing a high cfm fan over the mobo , and let it blow air to the whole motherboard ?
554  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig keeps restarting on: March 02, 2018, 02:24:59 AM
Are you perform dual mining?
Try to lower the target temperature and increase max fan speed.
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore hangs on purple line with hardware infos (ETH, AMD) on: March 01, 2018, 10:06:37 AM
now i found out, that i dont see that purple line in claymore miner anymore...

For AMD card sometimes needs to plug monitor and or dummy output to make sure driver can read and set temperature and fan.
556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining private coin with rented cloud rigs and possible mitigations on: February 27, 2018, 03:33:46 PM
Please read carefully. OP wants to know possibilities to create a new coin, mining it by himself using rented Hashrate (Nicehash / Mining Rig Rental..etc) and also created own mining pool for that coin.  Wink
557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining private coin with rented cloud rigs and possible mitigations on: February 27, 2018, 02:59:58 PM
Just adding my previous comment
And one more important thing is those coin must be exchangeable to other coins or currency. If you created those coin only for you and didn't release on the market the coin value is zero and what you are doing is nothing.
558  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Patience is a virtue... and the key to mining on: February 27, 2018, 12:22:05 PM
Good advice buddy.

Miners have a different fashion to maximize their profit. Sometimes hot coins give them more benefit, but as we know, hot coins would invite many of miners to mine it. Major coins mining also didn't have a guarantee to maximizing the profit. But time to time would give Us more experience doing better. We would know when to start, when to stop, when to move. Yes, patience is one of the keys.
559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is GPU Mining Still Profitable? Should YOU Build a Mining Rig? GPU Mining Dead? on: February 27, 2018, 08:47:16 AM
Not true. Half that amount according to whattomine. Below $1.83 after electric or $2.26 before electric cost for zcash. Plus irs taxes it as income right away and also later if you cash out further gains later. It's about $1 a day per gpu. Not worth baby sitting your rig . Mining is for losers. Best to buy coins especially now while prices are depressed

I mine and what a dumb mistake, I can't even go on vacation. Only good thing is that gpu went up in value. So far that's where the real money is at.

In Crypto-Mining Industry, losers refer to a failed miner. Miners that can't improve their mining technical skill and then give up.
560  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining private coin with rented cloud rigs and possible mitigations on: February 27, 2018, 08:24:05 AM
It is possible. And so, what would be validated by miner? If on those coin network didn't happen any transaction.

Nicehash or Mining Rig Rental would be good for renting Hashrate at your scheme, just need to configure any difficulty at your own mining pool in accepting rented Hashrate.
