Re: Is Fraud and Scam killing the Altcoins?

Today the SEC sent an alarm again about ICO pumps and scams: https://www.coindesk.com/sec-warns-public-companies-using-icos-pump-stocks/

As a day trader, I can see it everyday, scam after scam, the altcoins are in suicide mode.

Today we reached the higher capitalization ever, thank to ETH going up to $360, but on the altcoin side, there is nothing happening, no money to make. Why?

Reiterating that although no one can predict with certainty, a crackdown by SEC against ICOs could plausibly coincide with another bear market in crypto similar to 2014.

Perhaps the authorities could freeze/confiscate ICO tokens on centralized exchanges within their jurisdictions.

A new treaty went into effect in 2017 and all G20 nations  are required to share financial data on the people in their jurisdictions with each. Perhaps some coordination on freezing ICO tokens at exchanges all over the world is coming. Or just a freeze in the USA or other significant jurisdictions might be sufficient to spook the trading markets.

ETH has become the Pink Sheets listing system for scammy crypto ICOs. Could ETH be also frozen and confiscated on exchanges?

On top of this we have a bubble forming in cryptocurrencies in general, potentially ripe for a massive correction as we reach some nosebleed level.

Additionally new laws may be coming which prevent you from crossing a border legally without declaring all your cryptocurrency wealth.

read that there are some ICO regulations issue in China... who knows something more about it?

NEO's first ICO Red Pulse just tweeted two hours ago that they won't be selling to Chinese investors.  I had 5 NEO and just sold them.

Wrote an article about this, feedback from experienced crypto enthusiast is welcome

http://usethebitcoin.com/regulations-in-china-regarding-icos-affect-neo-price/

But BTC has indeed that 100+ advantage over anything because of being the first one and the most popular and already established.

Which is Bitcoin: BTC w/SegWit fork, the 2MB hardfork of BTC+SegWit coming, Bitcoin Cash fork, Satoshi’s protocol original Bitcoin?

Seems Bitcoin became an altcoin.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Theymos's list of altcoins with some technical merit on: August 17, 2017, 07:07:09 AM
What do you think of Dash?

I've heard that it's highly centralized, but I haven't looked into it in depth yet.

Maybe it is time you do look into it in depth instead of repeating hearsay. It would be interesting
to have someone analyse Dash on its technical merit, which is after all the focus of your thread.

Dash has the worst technology:

“no one—who properly understands anonymity technology—uses Dash’s masternode scam honeypot”

There was more discussion here.

If you want really anonymous and untraceable transactions, use Monero.

The anonymity of Monero is in doubt.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero, Dash and all anon coins fucked? on: August 16, 2017, 10:46:08 AM
The point is, if the headlines read "Bitmain steals Segwit coins!" rational people are not going to move into another Chinese coin.

He rebutted you:

Quote from: @AnonyMint
In further rebuttal of @sus_generis, as I have quoted from others who have explained that the likely first attack against BTC-SegWit is the slow difficulty readjustment of Bitcoin. Thus as BTC peaks then declines in price and then BCH rebounds in price, it will be much more profitable to mine BCH than BTC-SegWit. This in theory results in a spiral that collapses the price of BTC and drives the price of BCH up.

The theft of SegWit probably comes if ever, perhaps some months later, perhaps around the time of the November fork. Those who create the chaos profit by shorting everything and again you are trying to argue that all ASIC-mined blockchains will crater yet it was already explained to you that the lowest-cost miners remain just as profitable as they were before and continue to accumulate all the tokens for the next pump. And NEO is positioned with PoS to take that inflow that gets scared as shit of PoW with what is coming down the pike to discredit PoW. Maybe Vitalik will get his PoS crapola activated in time, but Ethereum is owned by the same TPTB behind the scenes who are the customers of Bitmain. Jihan is just the front man. The power brokers are unnamed as always.

Cryptocurrency as it stands now is a raping system. Bend over greater fools.

So they would throw away their money, destroy Bitcoin, and by doing so empower alternatives that don't use POW?

Can’t you read the link I provided to you?

Quote from: AnonyMint
…so let’s safely presume the miners are offloading their mined tokens as soon as the 600 block (~100 hours) holdback period is completed…

It was always assumed that miners had no incentive to destroy Bitcoin because of their hardware investment, but this doesn’t factor in that cratering the price mostly impacts only the marginal miners, because the network difficulty and hashrate adjusts down to the new lower price level. Those who have the control over the only two 14nm fabs in the world, thus remain profitable even with a cratered price. Add the conspiracy theory on top of that, which is TPTB which control those ASIC fabs have absolute power/control as their primary objective, not profit.

Don’t you see Bitmain creating alternatives such as Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, and NEO? Jihan has all his balls in play to capture all the outflow and using relativity to extract our money from us.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero, Dash and all anon coins fucked? on: August 15, 2017, 10:17:50 PM
One article on Steemit and all alts are worthless?

That Steemit article is not likely the cause of alts being down. Rather it is Bitcoin’s vertical move up that sucked money out of altcoins—perhaps temporarily.

I see you continue editing your posts:

P.S. If you need confirmation of that guy's separation from reality, read about the latest imaginary attack he came up with. Apparently, he thinks that miners would nuke the value of their own hardware to steal coins from Segwit transactions.

You’re a simpleton thinker who doesn’t understand relativity and the Economics 101 concept of that supply meets demand at the marginal cost producer. Also you fail to understand who controls the only two ASIC fabs i in the world and what their objective is (not profit, but absolute power).

I'm a liar? Ok, I have great news for you then. Why not use your fake news Monerolink tool to win the bounty in this challenge: www.monerotrackingchallenge.com/
Please claim the prize.

The vulnerabilities that @AnonyMint detailed requires a powerful adversary that is invested in mining.

Also he has called out Monero to do rigorous math on what level of mixins would be required to counter those vulnerabilities. Zooko-Wilcox has now concurred that he would like to see that work done.

So thus you guys go mix the hell out of 23 Easter eggs (perhaps you mixed them 1000 UTXO or more) and then claim that as refutation of anything, just goes to show what devious liars you are.

The monerolink (by Andrew Miller, a highly respected cryptographer) clearly shows that those who trusted Monero’s lies back in 2015 and 2016 are likely fucked. And now you pile on more lies.

Then he has the audacity to make grandiose claims on subjects which he does not fully comprehend.

You do not comprehend the subject matter, that is why you mistakenly think he does not comprehend.

Send your experts to debate him. He has been waiting. He refuted @smooth, @ArticMine, etc on Reddit.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero, Dash and all anon coins fucked? on: August 15, 2017, 09:13:02 PM
Monerolink only applies to very old transactions that intentionally turned off privacy by setting mixin to zero.

Liar. Readers click the monerolink and you can see for yourselves.

The "vulnerabilities" that blowhard detailed exist only in his head. For his vulnerabilities to work, an attacker would have to own over 80% of all outputs on the blockchain

Liar. That has already been refuted in the comment section where the MNL-001 research report was discussed and refuted by him.

Lying will not help you.

His mathematics knowledge is a joke; just enough to be able to waste the time of Monero's PhD cryptographers.

The Monero snobbishness knows no bounds. Even @fluffypony does not trust @Shen_noether and censored his own PhD mathematician in Github.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Looks like another crash is coming!! on: August 15, 2017, 08:49:03 PM
- bitcoin stays stable > altcoins get pumped

you should hope for the third option to happen.

@AnonyMint thinks perhaps BTC will fall back down from $5000+ to $4000 as the altcoins rise again (before some final catastrophy later).

I don't see any crash coming. There is no potential bad news on the horizon.

Incorrect.

I took some profit and bought cheap silver. That way if there is a crash I hedged myself.

A hedge is something that goes up in price when the other goes down. Silver is not a hedge that can counter balance a decline in crypto.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Monero, Dash and all anon coins fucked? on: August 15, 2017, 08:27:13 PM
This site shows the linkability of Monero:

https://monerolink.com/

Note the above is without the additional vulnerabilities which @AnonyMint detailed. Thus even 10 ring sigs mixes may be still insufficient.

P.S. Zooko-Wilcox the CEO and lead dev of Zcash commented on AnonyMint’s blog.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: OH, ahhh!! Now I understand why Bitcoin Cash is called Cash...! on: August 14, 2017, 11:50:03 PM
... simply because it's designed to allow people to sell BCH for BTC so we can get more BTC = more cash

Hubris. What if you’re the fool here?

@AnonyMint posits that the reason is so they can buy your BCC with BTC that they plan to double-spend (steal) from you in a long-range blockchain reorganization, along with stealing the SegWit booty.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fuck BitcoinCash on: August 14, 2017, 11:46:34 PM
Well, what did Cash supporters expect? To reinvent BTC, get it for free and then have it replace Core???

Well, maybe you don't understand the technology deeply as @AnonyMint does.

He posits that they expected they can buy your BCC with BTC that they plan to double-spend (steal) from you in a long-range blockchain reorganization, along with stealing the SegWit booty.

Bet you didn’t think of that.
15  Economy / Economics / Re: Martin Armstrong Discussion on: August 14, 2017, 11:50:04 AM
Note @AnonyMint thinks possibly grave danger is coming to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency soon. New more dire possibilities that should be weighed for likelihood:

16  Economy / Speculation / Re: The biggest bitcoin crash ever has begun. on: August 14, 2017, 11:19:26 AM
…with the upcoming hard fork.

Is anybody even paying attention to what he said! Has the upcoming hard fork happened yet. No. So he is portending something that will happen.
By “ever has begun”, @kwuckduck likely means that the process of fooling all of you to acquire BTC that will be double-spent from you has already begun.
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: The biggest bitcoin crash ever has begun. on: August 14, 2017, 10:35:13 AM
I'm not sure how we're going to handle this massive crash.

Simple. Everyone’s BTC might be stolen by a long-range double-spending chain reorganization perhaps sometime before November.

So what price do you think BTC will be after if that happens?

Quote from: AnonyMint
If the outcome I’m positing comes to fruition, it will mean that every fork of Bitcoin is a threat which requires coloring UTXO based upon their age, with older UTXO worth more than newer. Because buyers will value older UTXO more, since less probability of being stolen by a chain reorganization .

This is death to Bitcoin as a decentralized, fungible token system…
18  Economy / Speculation / Re: The biggest bitcoin crash ever has begun. on: August 13, 2017, 09:50:35 PM
It's not crashing.

Believe in any delusion of your choice. Facts are facts. Bitcoin will not be able to survive anywhere near this price level with the upcoming hard fork. Now this is still some time away but before that the whales will take their profits more than ever before because this split can be and probably will be a great disaster. If you deny this you are intentionally deceiving attempting to deceive ignorant people into buying more into the pump.

I believe @kwukduck is referring to a dire warning which is explained here, here, here, and here.

Shocking. Thanks for sharing.

31 july 2017 - Nothing change.

Seems from Twitter they are doing some conf. and stuff but not a word either here nor on their forum.
Though the team may be very busy, considering that the whole community was waiting for at least some news in June or at last in July, having yet provided no info at all is quite harsh.

Seems that Monero folk are trying to sweep this under the rug?

I found copies of the posts @fluffypony deleted.
