3181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Antminer D3 Blissz firmware (10/12 v1.12 update) on: January 16, 2018, 05:45:24 PM
Flat fee was never an option.
I'm willing to pay a flat fee? is that still an option? (or not or never has been?)

I see things are kinda in flux here..just asking

if anyone has time to get me up to speed

brad

ok..not an issue...my stuff is running fine and making little money anyway..thus if a flat fee may have

got it for the tax write off in bulk this year ..what the heck as a month to month drip etc...and my

miners running fine on bitmain firmware..no incentive..or I should say less incentive to experiment

on the other hand with crypto tanking perhaps I don't need to worry about a 50% tax rate any more

and deductions (40% fed and 10% state) .....

anyway, thanks for the info..was where I was coming from on the question ..sitting on the fence getting this

firmware or not

brad

3182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: First Asic for SIA - Obelisk SC1 on: January 16, 2018, 05:40:17 PM
I did the math and calc/projection on Decred and couldn't justify it and opt'd to buy into SCI-1 more for the same price point.

Better potential ROI. Just my instinct.

Looking to reinvest into SIA-GEN-2 if all works out on this....

yeah that is my thoughts...IF siacoin makes it ..IT WILL NOT be due to the price and speculation of this coin..it will be due to the

ASIC network and their decentralized anon storage solutions at 10c to Amazon's $1.00 in pricing

with the amount of siacoin generated..that is the ONLY way such an ASIC network can pump out that many coin

for this whole idea to make sense

anyway my (likely clueless) interpetation of this

now do I man up and get some more machines with my coupon...or sit like I have today and watch the FUD and

crypto prices dump as I sit an pucker up tighter and tighter

fun retirement I started yesterday (yep thats what did it, me retireing due to crypto etc, I broke the works)

sorry about that

(what do they say about 'timing is everything' ..If I'd done this LAST WEEK as least I could have 'gloated' for a week)

3183  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 16, 2018, 05:35:19 PM

Yes, bitcoin is death indeed Smiley

Was the death of my 'wage slave' job, I retired yesterday Jan 14th...all due to BTC....living on mining revenue and in HODL mode on BTC and other cryptos...

Spent today, puttering around the house doing chores....been a wage slave so long..kinda clueless on how to approach this...retiring early stuff...

kinda surreal in fact...., on what to do...I've no clue, yet, in that, once you wake up retired...everything suddenly is OPTIONAL..you need to do that day!

....clueless presently...but I'll figure it out!

Congrats!

of course by doing so have broke all crypto (sorry about that)

now panic selling some LTC in case (tax man needs his $$ eventually for 2017)

so yeah...I'm off to a fun start!

3184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: First Asic for SIA - Obelisk SC1 on: January 16, 2018, 05:28:02 PM
"Nobody got the memo on the Giant-B"

The Giant B is Vapor Ware as of this writing as far as I know.... no units on the market as of this post nor any idea on when they will be ready.

https://www.baikalminer.com/product10.php

Pricing for some pre-sales at $20k for 80/GH ... I'll pass on this thanks.

https://asicminermarket.com/product/baikal-miner-giant-b/

Rumour has it SIA Group is communicating with Netflix and probably/hopefully others.....

Personally, I am into it for the long hall and bought 6 /SCI-1.

No risk.... no reward  :-)

Gotta play the game to win!

yeah I got 5 coming 1st batch

was thinking of getting 5 more with my coupons

now not so sure....last week as a hedge if crypto went down I thought about it ..but stalled

will have to re-think this before the end of the month deadline

right now updating LTC wallet to panic sell some LTC for the tax man (ouch) and hoping coinbase does not choke

as it has in the past

fun times......

not

now if the price was to jump back to 14k again on a rebound with the same drama/fud etc coming and going

hell, I might go back to 5 units more again (what to get decred or sia or mix no idea)

but as of now in crypto dump mode..not too attractive as a hedge to me anyway (missed that boat last week)

3185  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why South Korea made this big step about banning Bitcoin? on: January 16, 2018, 05:24:02 PM
As the south Korean government made a big announcement about banning Bitcoin and other crypto,
All the market is down. How and why South korea do so,
What will be the next stage of bitcoin in future.
After watching this can other countries think the same thing to do so?
If so what will the future of crypto???

Who said that or where did you get that news? As far as I know, there's no bitcoin or crypto banning happening in Korea right now, it was the exchange's platform that is temporarily banned. Korean government wants to regulate them and operate and run by the law just like what USA did for Coinbase. For sure other countries will look into this move and maybe follow. This bloodbath we are experiencing right now is caused by some weak hands which are mostly new to crypto. They tend to commit panic selling after hearing a lot of FUDS like this.

the google I've read ...FUD wise ..is exchanges are now again likely to be banned ..thus the FUD

also China FUD is that they will ban all use by China folk to use any exchanges in or out of the country to use crypto

sure it is FUD

but  you have hype up you also have hype driving stuff down

again, from the past, it usually takes 2 weeks for such a coordinated (imho) FUD to burn itself out and MOSTLY

it has been overblown and the price bounces back

but people need to pay tax man (me) thus gonna be an over correction in my view anyway due to above FUD

hopefully, it is just dip and a rebounce

but could not have come at a worst time in USA as we get info on our crypto biz fate with IRS and taxes due

ugh!

3186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 10k BTC! (Job is going bye bye...giving notice) :) ie MY SHIP CAME IN! Take Poll on: January 16, 2018, 05:14:18 PM
I love reading such stories. Congratulations Searing, you deserve it all. I wish one day it will be me who is giving notice at work. I am working very hard to achieve that.

Again...as I speak crypto is tanking...the shock to the world of me not working was too much

alas, I broke crypto with my self centered retirement

on the other hand

panic selling LTC now to pay tax man from last year..I really, really wanted to say I could hold 500 LTC for a bit

not gonna happen....

down to 400 LTC in the hoard at least (i have btc hoard not selling...fun watching my fortune take a dump there)

woe is me.....

broke it all with retirement...and now selling on the low for LTC probably to set aside some $$$ for the tax man from

last year

now lets see if coinbase even lets me sell some LTC or it just pukes like last time there was a run on them

fun times (not)

3187  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why South Korea made this big step about banning Bitcoin? on: January 16, 2018, 05:10:42 PM
Their highly educated youth are really, really big on bitcoin and crypto

BUT

they have a 30% unemployment rate...and the a lot are univ/college students

thus an over reaction to 'save them' from the 'evils of bitcoin'

the gov't says if they act on crypto they are blamed if they don't act on crypto they will be blamed

so decided nanny state, was the best way to play it ..due to the youth of most involved...

or how I have read their justifications they have touted about ..south korean gov't that is

3189  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Just got off the phone with Bitmain re next batch of S9 on: January 16, 2018, 05:00:57 PM
In for 50 if possible.

Is there any EAT by the way?

I have to respect your enthusiasm as a newbie...but has the OP set up escrow or at least like other group buys

direct payment to Bitmain on your share of the orders...

w/o that I'd not touch this..but have seen NO clarification of how this is gonna play out

also with BTC price pump I expect bitmain to sell stuff anyway..they just sold some stuff on 10 day ship notice

L3+'s sold out now ...told by a buddy

expect a fire sale

when crypto dumps bitmain also dumps

when crypto pumps bitmain holds (thus the supposed previous march for L3+'s as an example)

I'd wait, and see equip wise for the other shoe to drop

myself? I'm panic selling some LTC thru coinbase (assuming I can get in) to take care of last years Tax man $

likely selling at the low (it is a gift) and assuming I can get it thru coinbase (an if?)

so kinda not looking at equip of any flavor at this point Smiley

3190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: January 16, 2018, 04:53:40 PM
Hey guys,

am I able to use the 125$ coupons on everything like PSUs only or do I need to buy a miner from them to be able to use the code?

1 coupon for buying one miner

I was told coupon was only good on miners

I wish to make an apology

I retired and crypto tanked Sad

It is all on me...I broke it with my retirement Sad

damn!

brad

p.s. currently 'panic' selling some LTC to pay the tax man for last year (in case) assuming coinbase will let me

in and do so (I wonder..with past rushes to coinbase not optimistic)

ah the glory of crypto

always the drama

it is like a smoking hot bi-polar girlfriend..when it is good it is great..when it is bad its the worst!

3192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: First Asic for SIA - Obelisk SC1 on: January 16, 2018, 04:48:54 PM
I also got Obelisk to up date their sales counters on their website.

If you are going to show numbers.... make them real and up-to-date.

New numbers as of Jan 15 2018:

DCR1:     1,095 sold

SCI:       1,585 sold

** EOF **

so when I got my original 1st batch of sc-1's the hash rate was 100mh now it is 800mh...so all that batch and new stuff

can you blow a coin up...to being worthless...simply because everyone turns their machines on at the same time?

The sia folk told me my orders did NOT matter in dates/time per batch..they will ship all the stuff at once

interesting situation..I saw a patch for KNC scrypt miners to scrypt-n protocol ...in 2015....and blew up and destroyed all worth of scrypt n coins in a week!

but, my bet is not on the coin price, but the protocol for storage...so we should be all right..correct....(scared self with above)

And quit scaring self and potentially others and focus on the underlying SIA tech.....

How many coins out there have some perceived value and yet no tech backing it?

Coins with out any underlying tech reminds me of the DOTCOM bubble .... and we know how that went over (Wikipedia it if any one doesn't know)

Have a website? Own a DOTCOM.... No business plan? No worries! Here is $10MM in VC/sheep monies !

 Grin

**EOF**

you could be right...I'm doing this as a 25% gamble above and beyond what I likely will pay the tax man this year

50% tax rate and 25% equip deduction applied to taxes I know I will pay otherwise above this

on the other hand

with crypto dumping in price I may be outsmarting myself this year and my risk on equip is more than 25% above

if income is less than my expected (and last years) 50% mining rate 40% and 10% state tax)

so I may be on the wrong end of this idea

but yeah, this all could be unicorn farts equip wise....

as to more equipment as a hedge on price dropping...not sure if I am in the game for that now ...due to you guessed it

price dropping for crypto

ah...crypto....always the drama (and confusion)

3193  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: January 16, 2018, 04:43:51 PM
above post saying maybe dragonmint IS or part of Innsilicon is not a bad guess

it is not like Innsilicon has good reputation anymore after the A5 fiasco

I would suspect...with the price dump in crypto happening...if they are legit here...that there

will suddenly be demo's and availbility to buy units...(see bitmain selling units now on 10 day ship)

so if they exist i expect them to try to move some units rather then fill their data halls anymore

at least, till things maybe settle upward in price again crypto wise at least

my guess...

quite the cluster

brad

3194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: January 16, 2018, 04:40:55 PM
I was surpiresed to see the 10-day shipping table Cheesy

Amazing what you can do when you got a monopoly and no one can do shit against you...

I still support Bitmain because their units are getting better over time (default %) but from a customer value standpoint we are clearly scum to them haha

They saw the crackdown notice again on mining in China ...and are dumping equipment likely, we may see more of this

what are they gonna do...sell the stuff or ship it to a data hall outside of china...obviously they are gonna dump equip

esp if they have new equip in the works

price dumps ....bitmain dumps equip ..price pumps...bitcoin hoards equip

rinse/wash/repeat

I ran this on sunday evening.. still nothing.. Maybe my fee was too low? I paid to have it accelerated yesterday afternoon and nada.. any thoughts other than patience?

1FzSLyH7UsSm3a3v3qLyo7YWQ6nG7p33K4

I have correct transactions  and fees take 2 weeks and a 3k xfer I accidentally did for 12c go thru in 1 hour

the ways are fickle

but yeah, try an accelerator....if  your fee is too low even the accelerator will not help....(tried to find one, but fee too low on above 12c fee) ...anyway

the ways of BTC transactions are a mystery .....highlighted by my above two cases

I'd not sweat it too much...it will either go thru or bounce back to your wallet...keeping the person you sent it to happy is the real trick...waiting that is...

3198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain looks like they're releasing a 15GH/s DASH miner called the AntMiner D3 on: January 16, 2018, 01:46:27 AM
D3 suddenly become cheap and available, what's happened? not so much profit in X11?

There is more profit in a D3 now than has been in the past 3-4 months.
Right now your looking at $300+ per month with a single D3 (Of course that is market dependent and can shift at anytime).
Previously I was looking at almost half that.  I think the biggest problem with the D3 is lack of quality control on behalf of Bitmain. I have 4 D3's and only one is a quality miner, another 1 is a problem child and the last two only run on 2/3 boards.

can you tell me which coin gets you $300/month?
It's probably his electrical cost. At best, you're making $250 / month on Nicehash and you're getting ~$80 deducted as an electrical cost at $0.10/kWh. That'd be near 3-4c/kWh though, much lower than the 10c average residential in the US.

I've 2 units that ave between them for a total of a bit over 35gh...at 10c kWh (winter rates goes to 13c kWh in spring) and 1200 watts for each D3...for a total of 2400 watts for both

I make about $10.45 a day...after electric.....so if I ran one unit....you would not get $300 a month but closer to $150 a month ...I'm running straight DASH thou

https://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/dash-mining-calculator/?h=35000&p=2400.00&pc=0.10&pf=0.00&d=114632397.61155300&r=1.80147602&er=0.06782900&btcer=13929.86000000&hc=0.00

probably need to multipool or other tricks...have not bothered too yet Sad
