381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Still Better than US Dollar? on: November 12, 2019, 08:01:55 PM
Better or not it depends on what aim you would like to achieve. in case you want to make investments for long-term period, to my mind it would be better Bitcoin to choose. But if you want to invest in something another and use in your everyday life, the USD is better choice, because Bitcoin is still expensive in transactions and fees for most people... but about manipulation - I am afraid that all fiat money is under control of government, and in some way Bitcoin is manipulated also... by whales and other influencers of the crypto world...
382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will cryptocurrency soon be an alternate payment option? on: November 11, 2019, 06:51:49 PM
Just a month ago, giants like Starbucks, Nordstrom, Whole Foods, and AT&T announced that they accept cryptocurrency as a payment option.
With the  popularity that cryptocurrency is growing there is no doubt that it will soon be among other payment methods. Especially for the international payments, with its ridiculously low fee and time taken for inter-border transfers it is surely the favorite among the traders.
Also, with giants accepting it as a payment option there is no other need to prove its authenticity.

Do you own any cryptocurrency yet?

Oh, I must admit you are very optimistic))))) of course I believe in the brightest future of crypto, but I am afraid that mass adoption will not come very soon. Of course there are services that already try to use crypto for payments and so on. I even saw on the clothing market market in my city such a nameplate - "you may pay in crypto")))) it was really funny to see something like that there in that place)))) but still fees for transactions and lots of nuances hold people back from using crypto in ordinary life...of course I have some assets in crypto and believe that some day this will be the means like may be some other money...the question is that it is more likely that it will not happen very soon...
383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why only 6.2 percent of American citizens own Bitcoin? on: November 10, 2019, 08:06:36 PM
It's simple, and there are some reasons, but I'll make short

BTC is not so easy to pay to use like a credit card for example, it require a few steps, but not so easy for people who are't into technology
BTC is in the hands of the most rich in US, people with high amounts of money and coins, it's not for the poor

I am agree with words about credit cards. Too many people can't use crypto in everyday life because transactions and lots of nuances are difficult for their understanding. Lots of people would prefer to use ordinary credit card that do not need some manipulations yhat crypto still needs. But in case the government would decide to implement crypto into payment systems all over the country, it would not be a great problem i think...The other reason that this country has rich and poor clans like lots of other countries have, and rich people prefer to concentrate the crypto assets in their hands rather then allow to become masses rich))))) may be that's why this country is so strict as for to crypto?...
384  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: Stress and Happiness on: October 18, 2019, 03:44:29 PM

In my almost four years of getting involved (just an ordinary holder and part-time trader, nothing so great actually), I am so sure that Bitcoin can be a major source of stress especially if you bought them at a higher price and then the price made some slide. Now, I am not saying that it is Bitcoin's fault because stress in the first place depends a lot on our perception and how we are managing it. But definitely, we can categorize as a stressor at some degree.

On the other hand, Bitcoin can also be the source of "happiness" especially when the coin is having a great time jumping upwards. Certainly, there can be euphoria if in 2020 Bitcoin can go higher that its 2017 ATH. Bitcoin is known for extreme volatility and it can go from one side to the other in matter of hours and days.

No wonder that Steve Wozniak the Apple co-founder sold his bitcoin because riding the roller coaster stressed him out.

How do you manage any possible stress coming from Bitcoin's volatility?

After 2017 year and great times in cryptoworld for everyone it was hard to accept the fact, that lots of assets and enormous opportunities had been lost forever. And of course telling the truth it would be a real lie to tell that there were no stress after loosing in 2018, but ups and downs it is the life, not only in cryptocurrency world this rule works. So first of all it is the experience it's no doubt. And the main thing is your mental and physical health. It is the most fragile thing I think. If you remember about this no other thing will matter so much. Nothing will make you go mad. Without yourself no money or crypto will have any sense.
385  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin May Extinct on: October 18, 2019, 01:39:15 PM
Gents, Am I the only one thinks that bitcoin can be erased in the same way it is created? Dont you think any attack can kill it?

https://hackernoon.com/bitcoins-biggest-hack-in-history-184-4-ded46310d4ef

If this happened, anything can.
What will happen after satoshi dies?
What will happen when bitcoin stands alone.
What will happen if it is banned globally?
What if goverments start working on killing bitcoin?
Dont you think goverments can work on it to kill it?

Btc is not like gold. You cant make the gold disappear suddenly as it is possible for btc. I am a fan of btc but I am also scared. It should be protected but who will do it? Exchanges? The top btc holder?

So all these questions are from the category - "what will be if...". But these if may happen, or may not happen. In case such things happen there will be lots of sad and disadvantaged people on the planet. Lots of people will go mad, and even dead)))  Grin sorry, but in case all governments conclude a secret agreement and at the same time forbid the crypto, may be all these questions even will not have any sense and everything will look like in a more simple way. But to my mind it is a nonsense. But even in case crypto disappear one day, if it is possible, I do not think that life is over after that)))))) just be attentive to changes and do not be sure that everything is everlasting...
386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There Is No War Against Bitcoin! Stop The Fud! on: October 18, 2019, 12:17:14 PM
I do not think that there is any war against Bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Yes, some regulations in the financial world appear or change from time to time in every country. But in case there was a war against crypto, believe me, it will not exist so long time. It will disappear in half of a year or so. And big men from the big world of politic they really have such mechanisms how to organise such things. Everyone understand this. But what about fud - you know fud existed and will exist till the last man on the planet will be dead))))) it is a thing that is living for so many centuries, even not years. It is a pity, but it's the integral part of the human nature.
387  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What needs to happen in order for bitcoin to replace gold on: October 18, 2019, 11:55:59 AM
Replacing gold Bitcoin could get such an opportunity to become the number one in the whole world. But we know that it is not possible. Bitcoin is a mire digital thing, gold is a more physical one. They just are from different categories. They two are not equivalent. That is why one can not be replaced be the other. More over, Bitcoin for the larger part of the whole world still stays like something unknown, unpredictable and is not supported by some physical thing, that for the most part of the society plays a great role in choosing the direction for investments. Nothing will change untill the peoples' mind changed.
388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto is Literally Hitting the Road on: October 18, 2019, 11:00:47 AM
After seeing a couple of crypto-related ads in a single day in Singapore, something suddenly comes to my mind. What if all of these ads are promoting Bitcoin? People would be seeing Bitcoin logos everyday; in MRT, buses, malls, houses, underpasses, waiting stations, taxis, laundry shops, and practically everywhere. Would this help a lot? And those who are not familiar will get curious and would want to know more about it.

Bitcoin is already embedded in pop culture at this point, so I'm not sure how many new people an advertisement campaign could actually reach. Not a lot has changed from when it peaked back in 2017 either, so people who weren't interested in it then would unlikely be interested now. It would be great if these companies advertising could share data regarding their traffic though, just so we have a general idea; I would love to be proven wrong.

On a sidenote, I thought the title was referring to recent price movements lmao, this was a nice surprise.

You are quite right, the crypto and the Bitcoin itself are very popularized in society and pop culture, they became very famous for last years. Of course not so many people are ready to dive into crypto with all their assets nowadays. But I can not agree that such kind of advertisement will not work at all. Some months ago I saw such beer shop with the first "B" symbol that looked like Bitcoin symbol. The name of beer shop is BeerCoin. Of course there was no services there in that shop dealing with real Bitcoin, but it made me and my husband to become curious and we did not pass through it, but visited and even bought something. I think that advertisemets or something like that always work in case to do it in a not standard manner. And it always gives the good result in case the advertisements are well designed. May be those who did not want to be interested on crypto earlier will become really interested after some good advertisement)))))
389  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto is Literally Hitting the Road on: October 18, 2019, 10:37:22 AM

Wow!))) It was pleasant to see some news like that, really. So it makes to think that still there are people who are really interested in developing of crypto, tries to do something in this direction. And as the advertisement or promotion in such a way is not a cheap yhing, especially in Singapore, it means that they have money for this. Hope this advertisements on cars will not stay just the advertisemets and will work successfully. Because there were lots of projects in the history of cryptocurrency, but they nowadays are nearly forgotten and that is all. But you know, Singapore is just country that looks like a country from some other universe for me)))) they can surprise pleasantly))))  as for Bitcoin and advertisement of such kind - may be yes, or may be it will not work. Nobody knows. But some interest of the society it might attract I think.
390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How feds have been able to identify the users of the largest child porn website on: October 18, 2019, 08:06:51 AM
It took them years to caught everyone involves this is the biggest accomplishment of the authority in our time. The closing of this site will make a positive effect on the use of Bitcoin in the near future because investors don't need to think about being involved with this kind of thing. Also, the other sites like this will also closed they will no reason to continue their operation because the big fish among them has been caught.

The story of the kiddie porn site or service has a good continuation, with good investigation results, and of course I am very happy that this result is against organizers of such service. It is great that Blockchain and such procedure like Know Your Customer (KYC) played really useful role in this situation. Despite of such a risk to loose your assets or become vulnerable because you send all your data to lots of services, in this case it played really great and positive role. The one sticking point in whole this story is that such services ( and it is a pity, but it is true) find other ways to prolong their life, and of course only low-level workers will be punished. I am afraid that as a rule the main organizer of such service is still and will stay in the shade till the time when all this story will be forgotten. And after that he or they will continue this dirty business again..  Sad Sad
391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are we really investing in bitcoin? on: October 18, 2019, 07:43:25 AM
Is the service and profitability, even if bitcoin is highly volatile, are the only two reasons why bitcoin is attractive to investors? Any good opinions or answers? Thanks

Yeah, these reasons are the main why Bitcoin is so interesting for people. The only thing is that this profitability is very conditional. Because your profit depends not only on the price of Bitcoin, but it depends on your ability to evaluate correctly the situation on the whole market and the situation with the Bitcoin itself on this market. But of course it is a real chance to get some good profit, it gives lots of opportunities in case of your successful investment. And of course it is really new type of service for our century.
392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin isn't just an investment, it is the future on: October 17, 2019, 04:06:08 PM
From my last post about Bitcoin investment,  following the valuable contributions of members of the forum,  I learnt that Bitcoin investment is not just something that blossoms in a few days,  rather it takes patience.

That gave rise to my new topic.
Bitcoin isn't just an investment, but it is the future...

Let's all share our thoughts about this, in order to encourage ourselves and build a stronger community of users.

Potentially Bitcoin has lots of chances to be with us in future. Of course this technology looks like some real discovery of this century. And of course it will be alive till the last man on our planet loose the interest to it. But we see the real growing interest of society to blockchain and Bitcoin as well, so hope this direction will be developing more and more. It is hard to predict nowadays the future of Bitcoin for lots of years, but for today it is strong, and even the most reliable coin in my opinion among the variety. Nevertheless we should not exclude the option that some day Bitcoin may be replaced. Of course like others I hope it will not happen, because we really interested in the developing Bitcoin rather that in its falling down. But the future will show us everything. And nowadays we should just enjoy))) enjoy that we have such an opportunity to have at list hope that one day investments will give us so expected profit))))
393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you ever been stolen? on: October 17, 2019, 03:21:18 PM
Recently I've heard someone's speech about keeping BTC on the exchange is not safe. But the same thing may be fair to other types of wallets — it's all about the pros and cons, isn't it?
There must be a comparison based on the number of incidents, statistics, etc.
I mean, ok, let's consider this article as a detailed guide for different types of wallets — there's an explanation, principles of working, advantages and disadvantages — but how do you actually know, which wallet will be safe? How did you choose your current wallet?

Where do you keep crypto? Have you ever been stolen?

Thank's God I have never been stolen. But it is a pity, my close friends were, and I would say even more, noone has such strong guarantee that it never happens to him. Of course it is not very safe to keep your assets on the exchanges, even in case it is strongly protected. It is better to use wallet on the separate gadget that is not used by you for other different things like searching information, watching films or downloading some of the programs. Too many risks everywhere. I like MyEtherWallet, but there are some cold wallets that really good in use. But first of all it seems to me your safety depends on the kind of wallet you choose, but first of all it depends on your being attentive and your maximum following the rules of using your gadget.
394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this a scam? What to do next. on: October 17, 2019, 01:51:27 PM
So okay, this story didn't happen to me. It happened to a friend (let's call him Bob) of a friend (I will call him Sam).

Bob came to me asking is this a scam and is it legal. Bob doesn't know much about bitcoins and crypto, Sam even less.
Sam somehow got in contact with people who offers to open an account and invest into crypto. These people guaranteed a lot of profit. Sam paid 500 EUR at first and other two times a 2000 EUR.
What is interesting, that these people calling him to invest more. But he has an app (I don't know what app, because I heard it from Bob and he doesn't know either) which shows that Sam has doubled his investment (9000 EUR), but he cannot withdraw it now and these people (from Russia) are calling and rushing him to invest even more.

Bob asked me about that, I said that this is some nonsense. There shouldn't be people calling you and asking to transfer money. All is too fishy.

What should Sam do? Will the police help?

Oh, it is a typical situation in the world of profit and money. Some are too inventive and make great really working schemes and pyramids.  Really simple and ingenious. And some people are sometimes too greedy, sometimes too naive, sometimes just too inattentive to details. And such of people, they find each other in different parts of the world. And as result such kind of situations happen. Sorry for sarcasm, but why this person named Bob or whoever he is had not stoped after first investment?.. did he try to find some more information about this scam team in the internet, chats, forums or telegram groups where lots of people are engaged in crypto, where there are lots of people with their own experience in crypto world?... It is a pity, but no police in the world will help him now, no other actions will bring the positive result in order to get his invested money....only move further on and be more attentive before investing such amounts of money in whatever it may be....((((( Just think twice...
395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and kiddie porn on: October 17, 2019, 10:07:10 AM
wait wait  Shocked
You are angry because that site is closed?
I hope I've misunderstood your post
There is no mercy for pedophilia!

Yes, you did misunderstand it.  I was implying that if you give people ways to pay anonymously and they will use it for bad things.  And there is no way of tracing the people doing bad things.

You know, I am absolutely outraged by the facts, where children are used in such a way... but you know, this topic is alive for a long-long period of time. Kiddie porn has not appeared with the anonymous way of payments, as well it has not appeared because of the creation of the cryptocurrency or blockchain. Such kind of people also use cash for this, or some other types of payments that are too hard to search or to prove. the problem is not in the anonymous coins, but in not health peoples' heads. I do not think that in case the crypto will be forbidden (just imagine), the kiddie porn will disappear at once. it is a pity, but it is a fact.
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin coins are losing popularity? on: October 17, 2019, 09:47:25 AM
Bitcoin is an online currency.  Even if started with a lower price.  Now its value is beyond the reach of ordinary people. But, nowadays, it seems that Bitcoin is losing its popularity.Because, not receiving validity in low income countries. It may be the main reason.

Of course every opinion is valuable and has the right to exist. But you shouldn't think in such a pessimistic way. May be comparing with the 2017 year the interest to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency became lower, but it is not losing its popularity at all. It depends on the region may be or exact country. But in case you look on this question more globally you will find out that it is still popular, even very popular. And the interest sometimes falling a little down, but after is rising again. There is some opportunities or services in the Internet with the help of wich you can check the level of the interest or google searching for the concrete topic, for example Bitcoin. There you even can see the popularity in different countries all over the world, the rating of the topic Bitcoin in different regions of the concrete countries. Of course these data may be not very precise, but you are able to make some approximate conclusions. And interesting fact that the most demanded topics are Bitcoin and Bitcoin price.
397  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi in Oxford English Dictionary on: October 16, 2019, 06:02:46 AM
First was bitcoin
Second was cryptocurreny

Now they listed "satoshi" and defined it as:
a satoshi is the smallest monetary unit in the Bitcoin cryptocurrency, and is named after Satoshi Nakamoto, the—probably pseudonymous—developer(s) of Bitcoin.

I'm not sure if there would be any impact on bitcoin's popularity but it's good that the word has been acknowledged although I think it's a bit late.

What word will be next?

Related news: https://cointelegraph.com/news/oxford-english-dictionary-adds-satoshi-bitcoins-smallest-unit

By the way, a question was posted here before How long until "satoshis'" make in into the (oxford) dictionary?, we know the answer now  Grin

It is a predictable thing. Cryptocurrency has become a bit popular and recognizable, so it is naturally that defines of such things appear more and more. Mentioning about Satoshi, Bitcoin, cryptocurrency and so on I met in different dictionaries, not only in the Oxford Dictionary. And it is great, I think. It means that people are searching the information about this direction and such kind of definitions are demanded.
For example from some of online dictionaries, when you try to find some information about satoshi, this one appeares - "It was founded in 2008 by this anonymous programmer using a pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto".
May be not always the information or interpreting of information is precise, but some time ago it was hard to find even this in the Internet. To my mind very soon even more definitions will appear.
