I really don't get the notion of "Holy place" specially not in religions where God is omnipresent, all-knowing and omnipotent. OK, I get that places of prayer are to be respected, but this whole thing going on in mecca is crazy. I also get pilgrimage... but come on!! What's going to happen in mecca that's so important? Nothing, but people just have to risk their lives in such a crowded mess. It. Is. Insane. Really. If something huge is going to happen, wouldn't God just kind of... broadcast it to the faithful? The real faithful. Why not have it happen in all mosques? But the religious fundamentalists never seem to let their god be practical an smart.

Iranian general suggests Saudi tragedies orchestrated by Israel

The deputy chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces suggested Monday that the deadly Mecca crane collapse and hajj stampede were orchestrated by Israel and Saudi Arabia.

At least 107 people were killed and 238 injured when a crane collapsed on the Grand Mosque during a storm on September 11. The head of Saudi Arabia’s civil defense directorate said high winds caused the incident, which also led to the death of a top Iranian scientist. Last week, over 700 people were trampled to death during the annual hajj pilgrimage in Mecca, including some 150 Iranian nationals.

HAPPY PATRIOT DAY.
NOTHING TO SEE HERE. PLEASE RETURN HOME TO YOUR GOATS.

God bless motherf**king America. It's payback time.

Please don't make American's look even more ignorant than we already do. Death for death, even if that WERE the case is not a solution.. It's a problem on top of a problem. I sincerely hope that you are trolling, and I am too new to the politics section to take notice of that, because otherwise.. Bad-Dog!

107 muslims Martyred till now Sad
It was a very sad incident in the history of Islam , Rip all the victims of Mecca..
There are very lucky seriously, they died in Holy Kaaba.

Many more have been martyred in total, and I'm sure that this tragedy would not actually consider anyone of them a martyr; This is truly a tragedy, especially in such a holy sanctuary.
Rest-in-Peace to those who have passed.

I don't know whether they consider deaths from building collapse as "martyrdom". Anyway, it was a sad incident. That said, I don't know why they allowed the worshipers inside the mosque, when the construction activity was ongoing.

Money.

You pay for doing worship ? it is just a question , Think before you speak dear.....
Tell me dear you pay when you worship.?

No my dear I do not. I guess this hotel cost nothing to build? Opening in 2017. Use google image to know what it is... If you don't already.

I agree with Wilikon on this one, nobody is going to deny these people their sanctuary when the money out-weighs the risk (Theoretically).. It's just extremely unfortunate at the actual price of their decisions, and their invalidation of just how "risky" the decision to allow people in before the equipment had been removed.

Wars have been fought over control of holy places. The Saudis control over these holy places gives them power.
So risking lives in a crowded mess is nothing.  Smiley

The Mecca / Mina complex is perhaps the most important religious place for pilgrims. The reason is that there are close to 2 billion Muslims in the world, and every single one of them is expected to perform the pilgrimage to the Mecca / Mina complex at least once in their life. This alone guarantees tens of millions of pilgrims annually.

The Saudi Kingdom will behead 28 Muslims who reportedly caused the stampede in Mecca last month.

While collecting bodies and providing medical care for the wounded of today’s incident in Mina have not ended yet, an Arabic media reported that 28 people who were involved in the incident to be executed tomorrow!

According to Beirut Daily al-Diyar it is so possible that the king of Saudi Arabia to order the execution of who caused this deadly accident.

“This religious decree will be issued immediately in Mina tomorrow; they will be charged with violating security issues and disobeying orders which claimed the lives of more than 1000 pilgrims and brought disrepute for Saudi authorities,” al-Diyar daily added.

It is important to say that so far Saudi authorities have refused to accept responsibility for the accident and blamed pilgrims for this event. So the authenticity of the news is uncertain.

At least 1,300 people have been killed and nearly 805 others injured in a crush during Hajj pilgrimage rituals outside Mecca.

That's intense. It makes you wonder how absolutely sure they can be that it was explicitly these people. I hope there is no misdirection or regrets in the events that follow because it is truly sad to see more lives lost over lives lost.

From the Independent The project to expand Mecca’s Grand Mosque was launched in 2011 by the late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and construction costs are estimated at more than $60 billion.

This is why I have always preferred Shakira law over Sharia law. And these executed people were not "guards". They were Hajj volunteers who looked after crowd management and none of them were Arabs. They were mostly from Pakistan and India. This doesn't makes any sense. The real culprit was the Saudi prince, whose convoy caused the bottle-neck on the first place.

Quick "justice" at work.
It makes me shudder to think that a Saudi is the Chair of the UN Human Rights Council.

With Saudi Arabia heading the UN Human Rights Council, we can expect these resolutions to be put in place very quickly:

1. Rape of Indian and Pakistani maid servants by Arabs legalized.
2. Pedophilia legalized.
3. Female victims of rape will be stoned to death.
4. Non-Muslims will be given three choices: a. convert to death b. pay Jizzya c. death
5. Women will not be allowed outside their homes, without a male companion.

I'm sure it's a disappointment to most here, but that bulldozer photo has been debunked widely. It's actually from 2006 and the bulldozer is scooping up trash. Also that entire area was completely remodeled several years ago and no longer looks remotely like that. The actual deaths took place on a two-story walkway and not in this open plaza
