To be honest, most of the early mining was done by actual noobs, mining with just the cpu miner in the client...it wasn't instantly overwhelmed, it built up slowly. I mined it right away

I wouldnt go that far...it was posted in the reg area shorltly after launch I think so the hash rate went up fast. I think by the time most noobs figured it out most of the big blocks were already gone.

Well let's be clear the market value will be set by actual buyers not by someone proclaiming an artificial price.

If you want to set the price at 1 LTC / 100 GLD that is fine but you had better have 50 BTC ready to spend on GLD if you want that price to have any chance to stick
