BTC-e, one of the largest bitcoin exchanges on the market, was rocked following an announcement published on the website of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Volgograd region on Monday. The statement claimed BTC-e was “under investigation” by the office and it quickly generated plenty of fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD).

So it seems that we can trust BTC-E.... at least for some more time..

correct. it comes down to what you want and what risks you will take.

for me ill use an exchange that is open and transparent and has a large legal team making sure they are in complience.  I've had bitcoins stolen in the past by using anonymous services that appeared trustworthy, only to see them dissappear overnight.

correct. it comes down to what you want and what risks you will take.

Rule 1 never leave bitcoin on the exchange!
You need to keep them your self , use linux systems for bitcoin only for example

Something is definitely going on with the exchanges.. i haven't felt too comfortable trading on any of the exchanges recently.. Mt.gox is having issues letting people withdraw and now btc-e is under investigation.. It almost feels like the governments want the exchanges regulated further first more so than bitcoin/digital currencies perhaps

I trust them much more than those Mt Gox and Bitstamp guys. I never had any problem with BTC-E.
