Click and see The first BURST cryptocurrency radio transaction in history!Ty to Burst's community spokesperson and independent developer, nixops, for making this and also for opening a new road to real decentralization. The device runs on solar power and its HAM radio capabilities connects it to the Burst blockchain. This node is independent. No internet provider and its outside the power grid. The future is bright!

LMAO, I love how people just believe everything they read and never due their homework. First, it is not legal over HAM radio. Second, I will counter your rebuttal ahead of time, the one saying you can use other means of radio by telling you that it is AN ABSOLUTE LIE , that this was a first. It has been done some time ago: https://github.com/aceat64/bitcoin_aprs

An independent miner because of Burst's low power requirements and a node to send/recieve transactions over radio, or over a wifi mesh network would show that a cryptocurrency such as Burst can be maintained without an internet provider or an electricity company. Second, okay I admit my mistake and have changed the title.

Dude are you for real? Burst needs miners to verify transactions, and the miners need ELECTRICITY. So NO, Burst cannot be maintained without electricity or internet.

Furthermore, after being called out by a shitload of HAM community members, now they are changing their tune, to not call it a transaction, but rather a proof of life...
What the fuck is amateur radio most used for: VOICE. Why would you need to send a transaction on a cryptocurrency blockchain with all this extra equipment added on to do so, when you can simply take the microphone and speak into it. I know this sounds like a far fetched ultra secrect concept, but it works. You do this, pick up microphone and speak...Pretty solid proof of life, you don't think?
Imagine you send that proof of life via Burst just to later find out that their were communication issues and the nodes that are trying to transmit the nmessage are getting blacklisted and your message never got through because of yet another fork in the Burst blockchain...
This is again one mindless attempt of trying to prove that Burst is not just one of the worst shitcoins out there at the expense of copying other's ideas in the process
The day you realize that the pocc (proof of caca) are just rambling off bullshit by copying ideas off the internet and worse still, off other coins and bring absolutely no value to the cryptocommunity sphere, you will then understand that the wool has been pulled over your eyes this whole time.

Either way, seems to be a step in the right direction. Anything we can do to increase decentralization without compromising on security gets a thumbs up from me. This concept could use some refinement, but there are definitely numerous use cases where Burst transactions could be very efficient.

Yes this is for real. The electricity source is off the grid and powered by solar energy. Burst's low energy requirement has that advantage. Its all over the news. Read it. "Proof-of-Life” Off-Grid Crypto TransactionYou can criticize but this is nothing but a proof of concept of whats possible to do in Burst and its low energy requirement. Next would be a wifi mesh network without the need for an internet provider.

In fact, the news is wonderful but probably too narrow circle of news with regards to BURST.

Interesting and certainly a move in the right direction. Blockchains functioning without the need of the internet (via isp) nor electricity (grid supplied) is great.
I expect the without grid supplied electricity would be a better fit for pos but still good so see burst pushing in this direction too.

This is only a proof of concept. But shows what can be done in cryptocurrencies that have low energy requirements like Burst. cryptohunter, PoS may be okay, but it has its own problems. I think Proof of Capacity is a perfect compromise for miners looking for alternatives of PoW.
