Yet again, my sarcasm didn't show though my post.
More along the lines of, "how the hell did 2 DT1 people actually select me" :-)

-Dave
As I saw in your trust page, and your trust summary, you traded with them, smoothly, and without issues, so they selected you.  Wink

I use purely selfish reasoning for adding people to my trust list. The core criteria being - do I want to see their opinions ?

1) The criteria that I use is "do I trust their judgement" ?  I look at the people they tag, their posts on the forum and who they associate with.

While it doesn't make it perfect - it is a good guide.

2) More is better. Unless someone is consistently wrong it is better to get a warning and ignore it than to get no warning and deal with a scammer.

If you get a warning you have the choice to ignore it. For instance - people may have done something dodgy but it doesn't necessarily make the untrustworthy in every way.

For this reason I've left default trust on - but have a custom list. If I find a particular member makes consistent unreliable decisions or appears dodgy I exclude them but have DT1 and 2 included by default.

We are surrounded by legends on this forum. Phenomenal successes and catastrophic failures. Then there are the scams. This forum is a digital museum.

Trust is earned not awarded. Let anyone you are going to add to your trust list earn your trust. It won't make sense to add someone to a trust list just because you saw one of their post and likes it. What if the post is someone else idea? Or copy and paste? Do you check the originality of those post?

To me, If I am to add someone in a trust list, I must have had a direct dealing with the person and sees how he handle matters, or see them deal with other people. Granted, you can judge someones competence trust worthiness by following his posts. But is has to be multiple posts showing a pattern of good judgements, not just one.

I'm on a few other forums. This one is polite even at it's worst.

I can assure you that most of the "shit" in the other forums is just this >

On this forum, where money and interests are involved things are quite different. Doxing, extortion-ism , life-threatening... some people went to jail for doing shady business here. It's not what it looks like at first, things are quite serious and big money are involved as well. Most of the people are seeing only the top surface and they are OK with that.
Those are just my observations, I do enjoy being here anyway.

Without taking it too far off topic; we actually had another local club that was forced to disband over the 2 vs 3 wheel fight.
They lost 2 or 3 (out of 30) members who they forced out when they gout 3 wheelers. Some other members left to show solidarity with the members who were pushed out out. Down to 22 members.

The next year, there was a vote to see if they should try to get some of the members back and the yes vs. no got so heated that the yes (9)  people walked out bringing the membership below the charter level.

No more club.

Because people got old a 3 wheel bikes are easier on the back.

and as an early adopter he's probably a tech geek indeed (and rich enough to make scamming very unlikely).

At one point his site just-dice held over $30M worth of investors' bitcoins (back when the site used bitcoins instead of clamcoins), if he didn't embezzle the money back then when he had ample opportunity, he can easily be considered one of the most trustworthy people in the Bitcoin community.

For not running away with my money I gave him a positive rating, but that's still a separate thing from a Trust list. But I have no objections to his ratings, and trust his judgement so put him on my Trust list too.
