What is Grin and Beam? And why so much hype here?

Hello, I have just heard a lot of hype about very new coins Grin and Beam. But I do not understand why.
Both coins should be anonymous cryptocurrencies, profitable for miners.
Have you heard something more?

Yes you can pay for copper membership and also for evil IP fee.This is statment given by theymos today.

Grin seems to have launched its main net, but I'm not sure about that. In general, I probably read a little more about these projects.

Some people have answered, but apparently the hype in GRIN is bigger because the adoption of big players behind the scenes, of course the inflation factor worries, have you seen the inflation chart of this coin? Either way, there is an eminent risk in proportion to gain. Always dyor if you have interest, see beyond this hype, do you intend to use GRIN or BEAM? If yes, why not buy? If you have financial or speculative interest, calculate the risks, be careful.

Grin coins looks like a very interesting project with a brand new tech for better scalability and privacy,

but a better distribution is still needed, most average folks wont get into mining as its complicated and limited for some devices

As long as a coin have good feature then it will have some difficulty as well while getting,the price of Grin moving pretty much green after the hype created in our forum so just see where and how long it will go.

Grin is soo popular, the 24 hour volume was around 1.7 million USD (volume of some top 100 altcoins) and it is traded only on some smaller exchanges, imagine what will happen after Binance or Bitmex listing.
But, it is obvious that price is overestimated because it is very profitable to mine, I think that soon price will drop down to mining costs (1$?).

Is that not the token that went from 50$ + last year to 3$ now ?

It did not live up to the hype but a good investment token

As the user said DYOR the mimblewimble protocol and Beam and Gring isn't 100% private it still has its flaws as other privacy coins look into it

they are two altcoins that have a great potential in front of them, but there is also so much hype that surrounds them, if grin has the confidence of the forum and is accepted as a method of payment maybe i will invest a little on it

Grin can do two things that bitcoin can't, all while not imposing itself as a threat to bitcoin. The two things are....

1. Grin is not strictly limited. (grin's emission is 1 grin/sec for infinity, whereas bitcoin is limited to 21 million)
2. Private transactions by default.

Bitcoin is a digital store of value (it's a lot more than that but for simplicities sake) vs. grin which is a lightweight privacy focused e-cash. The two pair very well together, in that grin supplements bitcoin as an offramp for private transactions AND offers a constant supply of money to meet demand.

Personally as a long time bitcoin enthusiast, I'm pretty happy that there's another coin for me to love besides bitcoin. I can support grin without throwing bitcoin under the bus, and with grin I can guarantee myself private transactions without having to push for some big crazy change to the bitcoin protocol to allow for privacy by default. Segwit was hard enough (I have so many new grey hairs). Bottom line, grin is super cool, check it out.
