Since the split already happened some time ago, I don't know if you can still claim it.

Basically I put my bitcoins in an exchange (bittrex) which said that it supports bitcoin cash and automatically I got the same amount of bitcoins I had in BCH.
I was then able to trade them or withdraw them do anything. Just basically free money.

If you have balance on your address before 1 aug, you can still claim it. But if you have it after 1 aug you cant claim it. If im not wrong, some people say this on this forum , i forget the link.

you can use : https://blockchair.com to check how much you have on your bitcoin address.

It's an executable. Did you execute it, or did you only VirusTotal scan it? If you only scanned it, just send it to the trash.
