I was updating the tables in the thread "Merit stat & all transactions more than 40 Merits" ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3046077.0 ) to include the most recent transactions more than 40 merits, during which I noticed several transactions below seem to require a closer check.  Some of them might have been already reported in other threads.

50 Merits sent back and forth.

2018/03/0912:09:54batesresearch->spartak_t

50 Merits * 3 times made Chachacoin17 rank up from Full Member (100) to Sr. Member (250).
2018/02/0919:23:07chickenado->Chachacoin17
2018/02/0918:59:34thend1949->Chachacoin17
2018/02/0911:41:41marcuslong->Chachacoin17

LongAndShort sent 50 Merits to casinocoin, and received back 25 Merits * 2 times.
2018/01/2609:40:43LongAndShort->casinocoin

However, good news is that the number of large amount merit transactions has been decreasing.  Let us focus on 50 merit transactions.  Starting with 68 transactions for the first 7 days, January 24 - 30, now there are only 3 transactions for the duration April 25 - May 1.

"graph"

[Edit]
It seems that people have gradually recognized smerits are valuable and stoped sending 50 smerits to a single post.
145572 sMerits have been sent in 3.5 months, which should be compared with
600000 initial sMerits and
 17750 sMerits per 30 days provided by 79 merit sources.

For those who are interested in checking the entire table for all the transactions more than 40 merits, direct links are as follows:

Indeed we might need to take a closer look, because they are swapping there sMerits to rank up, maybe they know each other, or maybe they engage on some sort of deal, maybe some of them owned many accounts and they are just sharing there sMerits to them. This kind of actions need to be minimize because these won't make the forum healthy.

I was aware of chickenado, thend1949, and Chachacoin17 months ago and had them tagged as merit abusers IIRC, but I removed my tag when I decided not to tag merit abusers (with input from the community).   Actmyname might have tagged them as well, but I can't remember.  So this hasn't gone unnoticed by any means, but DT members have basically backed off from suspected merit abusers.

You probably lost my post! they absued ALSO signature I've posted the fraud time ago, good reading (so you have one more reason to tag them now!)
This was one of my 1st reports here so the format of the post is not perfect.  Angry

DETECTIVE TIME
TASK
I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but for the post to earn 50 merit (from one person) would require that post to seriously be up to that standard and I don't think posts like these deserve it.

Chachacoin17, both posts but different topics. Merited by: -thend1949(50)  on February 07, 2018, -marcuslong(50) on February 08, 2018

on the side note, Chachacoin17 goit merited for 50 merit 3 times on the same day. His merit history.
TARGET= Chachacoin17

This is his ethscan for sal tokens
He probably using more accounts to farm signatures, how can I tell this? look timestamp when he sent tokens to fake address, to send again on main address

https://etherscan.io/address/0xc1346eb12de99ab7b027df5fc49d500f33852091#tokentxns

Quite cleaver but not enought he passes tokens to another address, before passing again on this main before selling on ehterdelta

But the Sal spreadsheet is here  Grin

DT2 members could tag these people and then remove it after a while, let them know this behaviour is frowned upon, let this be a warning for others.
Let them contact you or post in public to discuss the issue, in time everybody would realize this is not the way to use merits.

I am preaching that the way to eliminate this abuse is to create a merit award team which will not have vested interest. The vested interest in ranking up on this forum is signature. Therefore, those who are to be members of the merit award team will not alternative accounts that are needing rank up. All merit points should be withdrawn and handed to this team. Members will not have merit in their hands to abuse.

It implies that, as expected, we are running out of initial sMerits
I think the majority of users hasn't touched their sMerit yet. Theymos said about 600k sMerit was initially distributed, which is 4 times more than all sMerit ever used.

I just want to inform you that those accounts merited 50 to chachacoin17 isn't my alt. It happened that chachacoin17 was a person I've known mutually in this forum asking merit from me, but I am not aware during that time sending merit of that large amount is forbidden. If possible please remove the red trust in my profile.

You're right, the interpretation would be then people have gradually recognized smerits are valuable and stoped sending 50 smerits to a single post.
