I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, but for the post to earn 50 merit (from one person) would require that post to seriously be up to that standard and I don't think posts like these deserve it.

Chachacoin17, both posts but different topics. Merited by: -thend1949(50)  on February 07, 2018, -marcuslong(50) on February 08, 2018

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2671353.msg29817854#msg29817854
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2902381.msg29852678#msg29852678

on the side note, Chachacoin17 goit merited for 50 merit 3 times on the same day. His merit history.

Ronaldcoin2017: Merited by: -Twinscoin2017(50) on February 01, 2018

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=825087.msg29365929#msg29365929

Then Twinscoin2017's first post got merrited by:  KenChanYu (50) on January 31, 2018 (this account has activity and posts at the same number), djgtr (22) on January 31, 2018 (Same day, 20min gap and djgtr's first and last time that he gave merit until now)

Second post merited by: -Gaff (50) on January 11, 2018.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2672347.msg27936436#msg27936436 - Merited by Gaff (50)

alex bond got merited by: vavan1974muz (50) on January 31, 2018, fantom1962. (17) on January 31, 2018

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2796701.msg29164025#msg29164025

Side note: fantom1962. merited alex bond on 5 different posts, totaling to 50 merit when all combined, trying not to look obvious lol. Also, all usernames that merited him from January 27, 2018 to January 31, 2018 have a very, very similar usename style. Short name followed by a number. You can see it on his merit summary.

I hope DT members will take necessary action on them because they definitely abused the merit system by buying merits from someone or exchanged their merits from their alt accounts for the sake of rank up.
If people continue to do like this then more DT members will need to find out and tag them because merit system is an easy way to find the alt accounts too. Grin

That's an easy rank up for Chachacoin since fullmember need to accumulate 150 merit to become senior. He just 3 consecutive 50s. I am thinking if this is an alt account with easy 150 merit he is able to share 75 sMerit to other alts or maybe this is a bought merit? We dont know but i really wanna see DT's move against to this kind of people who abuse merit system.

You're not wrong, 50-merit for a single post would require the post to be phenomenal in ways I don't have the adjectives to describe.

There is a thread that I'm not sure if you've seen : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2896910.0
This seems to be where most users are keeping track of, reporting and taking action against people doing exactly what you've pointed out. You might have better luck in that thread, if I had to guess.

That being said, there are going to be people that use their merit is ridiculous ways; maybe they didn't read the official merit thread. I'm assuming most users have less than half-understanding of what the merit system is or is meant to do. It is a new system, and while I'm not defending this particular incident, there will certainly be instances that appears to be abuse when it is simply ignorance.

Well well, there are more findings everyday since the merit happened. I want to say thanks for the people doing this, they are bringing good things to the community by spending their times finding people like this.

I myself feel this kind of act need to be treated with justice and as soon as possible, thats why we need merit police (or at least people with power who care enough about merit abusing)

For a post to be be given 50 points it must be something so extraordinary that the readers find it very relevant or quite useful in terms of what they are looking to. Usually the merits sometimes is upon the discretion of the one giving the merits.

That is really unfair. I am trying my best to quote and give quality posts so I can receive merits, I update myself, watch videos to be able to gain more information. But this isn't really fair. I hope that the moderators will look into this and give necessary suctions for these bitcoiners and be fair to those who do their jobs properly and correctly.

I've seen loads of alt accounts get found and tagged with use from the merit system. Last week there was this guy (can't remember his name) but he was busted with 20 alt accounts because he was exchanging merits between his alts!

There is an official announcement thread where almost everything imaginable about merit has been thoroughly discussed. It doesn't seem like anybody else has answered  your question, probably because it is a bit off-topic, but nonetheless it would seem appropriate to educate you and point you in the right direction.

    Merit Thread : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0

This is where you will find all of the information you need; essentially, merit is a new requirement to rank up and every user has the ability to send and receive merit for each of their posts. It is a community driven criteria to rank up, designed to only award merit and rank-ups to members that are deemed meritorious by individual community members.
