I scanned my $1 bills on my flatbed scanner, but it refused to scan the $5 bills! I have no idea why, it kept saying "the original has not be set correctly". What the hell does that mean?! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EURion_constellation

Actually I don't know anything about this particular scanner. Mine was just an educated guess, considering that (1) most scanners and copiers refuse to copy cash containing EURion or some other security feature and (2) the scanner was able to scan $1 bills (that don't have the EURion pattern) but not $5 bills (that have it).

Something I just read from /r/Bitcoin http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/lac86/spreading_bitcoin_with_fiat_currency_this_could/ that actually make me remember this old ass thread, and how I think it could be resurrected and work in the below idea. If anything, the below idea is awesome. Spreading Bitcoin with FIAT Currency Let's assume you have a few thousand Bitcoins and you want to use them to spread the idea of bitcoin, what would be the most effective to spread Bitcoin using that money? You could put up large billboards or pay for a newspaper ad, but that's too local. You could make a hit YouTube video, but that's too random. Enter FIAT <3 Bitcoin Everywhere around the world, people with Bitcoin can easily help spread the word of Bitcoin by simply using a modified FIAT currency. All you need is some plain old FIAT currency bills, a permanent marker, and some spare Bitcoins that you would like to contribute to that cause. Using Casascius Deterministic Wallet Generator ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34163.0;all) you create a new bitcoin address and convert the private key to Mini Private Key Format ( https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mini_private_key_format) and write it down on a bill stating that who ever uses this private key first gets the bitcoins associated with that private key. The beauty of this method is that you can easily redeem the bitcoins after a while (2-4 weeks?) if you see they aren't spent yet, you could track new Bitcoin usĕrs and where they are coming from (geographically, and perhaps even more details if they are willing <facebook "Like"?>) if there was a site dedicated to converting the mini private keys (MPK Code/s from now, ok?) to bitcoins and špending them off (this could be combined with existing Bitcoin services, and the site operator would profit from affiliating to the services and getting them new customers). Pretty clever. The top <3 seems wrong any way I read it though. Fiat loves Bitcoin? Or greater than 3 of them?

Three Bitcoins are greater than one FIAT, duh Really good idea there though, something everyone on the forum could do. I think it could be adjusted and made better, but the base idea of using the bills is good.

I wrote some software to do progressive business-card sized QRs and adapted it slightly for this. Unfortunately the ink from my laser printer does not seem to stick to the bill. The first scan took me to bitcoin.org nicely, but subsequent ones not.
