o_e_l_e_o's 100 Most Merited Posts

Leo once sent me a DM, saying some nice things about me. I will obviously not share the DM, but, I mean... this is one of the greatest gifts I have ever got in this forum.

We exchanged very few DMs on Bitcointalk. I saw his Farewell thread very late and by the time I contacted him for a final goodbye, he was already gone.

Also I wonder, are these truly the Top 100 based on Merits?

The list is based on DdmrDdmr's Bitcointalk Merit Dashboard. You can see a user's most merited posts from the Most Merited Posts/Threads tab. I omitted posts that were off-topic in the sense that they were not about Bitcoin or the forum. Leo had several high-merit posts in Politics & Society and Off-topic. Some were about the COVID vaccines. There is one thread he created on 1 April which was about forming a new gang based on IQ levels. I didn't include those and some others because I only wanted to fill the list with Bitcoin and forum-related posts.

I thought of it a sign of respect you didn't add his farewell post as it's too famous to be omitted.

As I said to PrivacyG, I intentionally left out certain types of posts. The Farewell thread actually has 2 posts that are in his top 100 most merited, but I didn't think it should be part of my collection.

After a few cross check which validates you spent lots of hours on this post, I was able to single out a post of O_e_l_e_o that deserves to be on this list:

A post he made on April fool day, basically a sarcastic way to rank up in the forum

I didn't include that either precisely for its sarcastic nature. There is nothing wrong with it, though.

I know, nobody is perfect in this world because sometimes we make mistakes to learn to impact other people so that they can grow higher in the future which is what o_e_l_e_o_'o_s did in this community, I think o_e_l_e_o'_s deserve to be celebrated in this community because his impact is what is keeping many people in this community today, farewell mentor, may his gentle soul continue to rest in peace.

It was so painful to me seeing that he is no more around this forum, losing a knowledgeable and reputable member like o_e_l_e_o same as Lighter_warrior, these two soul was a something else to the forum and I believed forum will ever miss them. Back o_e_l_e_o I can also remember then going through his post on his profile gives me a lot of lift although I wasn't that technical enough to understand some of the things but it got to open my eyes through his writings including the kind of wallet i can keep holding my coin,- in all, also learned about security and privacy, words alone can't expressed the full embodiment of his knowledge towards him.

Although I didn't get a chance to learn from him (o_e_l_e_o). I joined this forum a few days after his chapter ended, it's very sad for me that I didn't have the chance to take advice from a wise man like him.

I have been reading some of his (o_e_l_e_o) posts for the past 2 hours trying to learn from some of his phrases. Even if he is not present among us, we can gain knowledge by studying his writings. By studying his writings, we can keep him alive in our hearts forever.

@Pmalek boss, thank you very much. To introduce a legend like him (o_e_l_e_o) to us. Those who came to this forum after he (o_e_l_e_o) passed away, may recognize @o_e_l_e_o sir from your presentation.

Leo might have left the forum but his contribution will live on. Glad we have access to his posts/responses and for people like me that are still starting the technical aspect of Bitcoin, it will be a rare privilege to have such resources available for free. Another good thing is that he has made a lot of people here who will be able to help those coming behind, so I believe there will be continuity in the forum and people willing to give back the same measure of knowledge they got from him. Although, learning from the source gives a different vibes, but it is unfortunate he has to leave. He will always be missed!

Despite my short time here, I've been astounded by this forum's wealth of knowledge and wisdom. It's a joy to be part of this community, and I only wish I had discovered it sooner. Sadly, such a dedicated person has left the forum. Forums are much better when dedicated people are in the forum. However, no one lives forever, and neither will I nor you; we will have to say goodbye forever, and it is hard to accept that there is nothing we can do.

Since he was very dedicated and honorable, there was no one else in the forum like him, so his last three departures have been an exciting day for this forum.

I'm not really convinced with the board which this post is located or maybe I'm wrong.

o_e_l_e_o was very active and, in my opinion, the best in the technical sections of our forum. Although, if you reference Ninjastic space to check which boards he mostly wrote in, you would see Bitcoin Discussion, Beginners & Help, and Meta at the top, followed by several technical boards. Since many of the posts in the list are also in the mentioned technical forums and this is generally a section with little spam, I wanted my thread to be here.    

I was definitely right about the location of the post, it's more of a reputation focused thread than technical even tho a good number of Leo's post were technically oriented.

Good to see it here.

I have taken my time to read through Leo's most merited post and it was absolutely out of experience he wrote them all. I guess I have to do a whole lot of reading because I couldn't comprehend some things because I have no clue of what they are taking about.

His merits, reputation, popularity and respect is all worth it. wherever he is right now he deserves more accolades and roses 🌹

Thank you for this invaluable topic Pmalek, Leo's knowledge about bitcoin was on another level and he is greatly missed on the forum, particularly considering the circumstances in which it ended. The consolation on Leo's exit is that the forum is a repertoire of bitcoin knowledge, so present and future users would still learn from Leo, even though he'd never post here again.

I must say, this is a nice way to keep the works and memory of such a user fresh and alive. Some of his thread is very much a necessary read for most till this day.

I just went through the first on the list.
While the first was emphasizing on the popular but yet, ignored phrase “not your keys, not your coins” all though it ain’t stated in this way but rather, putting custodian wallets in front, a lot of users as evident in the out burst we find them in when events such as crashing of CEX and these CEX having to froze user account, tells you why, that should be a read.

Would be reading some more of his valued posts as listed there but until then, don’t know what his health status is after he made public his battles with health challenges but, hope he’s carrying good and family too.

It’s cool to have a piece of him here and we are blessed by the knowledge he left us. Just typing knowing how he left feels heart breaking and I’ll leave a space for the words I can’t say. ______________________________________________

I met Leo and he was very good breaking down things for the layman to understanding and I don't know if we have another Leo in the community. And those who are saying they have learned from Leo should also imitate the footsteps of their mentor. And it should not be a just verbal saying. And another thing I like Leo is that was among the generous merit givers.
We need another technical knowledge like Leo though we have one such hosseinimr93 who is also knowledgeable enough to tackle some technical questions and contribute good to knowledge. Though we have more there in the wallet board. Leo we missed you. God protect you in whatever place you and heal your sickness.

I miss having o_e_l_e_o  in forum
We didn't agree on some subjects, but he made quality content and he contributed a lot during 7 years of his forum activity, that is why he should not be forgotten.

o_e_l_e_o played a role that it would take quite a number of years before we would have someone who can replace the role he played in this community, and sometimes there are people that the role played is difficult to be replaced. It quite interesting that o_e_l_e_o being ranked in the number one position as one with the most merited post and earned merit, was indeed as a result of his good contributions to this great community which I'm among the people who admired his style of post and the knowledge he impacted here before his departure from this space.

@Pmalek you've actually done a very good job by bringing this 100 most merited posts of his and which will be serving a lot of people who will be in need of this kind of post that he dropped, now and in the future.

When I joined the forum newly, I read the name o_e_l_e_o as a mistake and as someone who should not be taken seriously. But in opening his profile to see his post count and merit count, I understood he was a genius.
o_e_l_e_o guided me as a newbie on the following;

Him, BlackHatCoiner, Little mouse and others were very helpful. The help you render to a newbie will be the most memorable help to them in the forum. The reason we should treat newbies with care.

Then, the day I read his farewell post, I started seeing the forum with some doubts that I might wake one day  and discover that everyone I know has disappeared.
There's a post in this board where Vapourminer is planning to disappear. So sad!

Thanks Pmalek for reminding us that o_e_l_e_o has gone but his legacies live.

 If it were possible to have a library where we can keep all his posts, it will be appreciated because his works were masterpieces and it showed he wasn't just aware of a subject, but deeply knowledgeable. I find it deeply humbling that a guy like him, with his wealth of knowledge still found out time to relate and teach those who weren't of his status. He didn't see it out of place to impart his wisdom to as many as sought him.
 I may not have known him on a personal level, but I can say I was opportuned to have learnt from his numerous explanations on technically related subjects.

Its really thoughtful of you @Pmalek to have brought out these posts, even though it's to show his merited works, I still believe members can still learn a thing or two from this.

In my eyes he is the biggest loss I have experienced in the forum so far. I sometimes am in an only read mode and there is like a handful of forum members that I like or even love to follow and read their posts. o_e_l_e_o was incredible. Sometimes I hope he still is incredible and is still around somewhere.

I am still literally shocked how he was able to convey the important things and separate them from the overload that most people would not be able to handle. He broke things down and he was willing to get people on board and not leave anybody behind ever in terms of education (and probably in terms of anything). I asked him some questions and he made sure to get to know what my level is and adapt to my level with his answers. It's terrible he is not around anymore.

And he was ever claiming he was right, but research proved he was right all of the time. I never understood where he gathered his knowledge from so quickly.

He probably wouldn't mind if you shared some private conversation if it's nothing revealing, but still, it's something that the other person should be asked about first. If they agree, then it's fine to share such information. At least, that's how I would handle a situation like that.

It was my last merit point. I am not too active. But I wanted to share what a fine soul o_e_l_e_o is. No distinction ever. Every question being answered. My goal was to point that out. I miss the talk. But yes, I understand you and that is why I let you guys know how I meant it.
