I created a topic a few days ago: What is a DT member, and what is their job? Why are DT members kept in the forum? I wanted to know about these issues. I am fairly clear about them. Respected people in the forum helped me understand by explaining them. I have read their views very well and know quite a bit. Thanks to those who helped me with the information there.

Today, I posted again, wanting to know something new. My question is:
1: Those newbies to the forum can reach the level of DT members if they adopt any system and how they progress.
2: What is a trust list? Could you explain to me about the trust list?

I am eager to understand these topics clearly, and the respected members of this forum are the best guides for me. Your help in understanding these concepts is greatly needed and appreciated.

Build Up reputation gain the trust of others members then may they will add you on their trust list and then you will be in DT.

2: What is a trust list? Could you explain to me about the trust list?

DT as you know simply means defaultly trusted members and I think that Theymos is the one that adds them to the DT list by himself. I came across a post this evening while I was surfing the forum. The post wason the meta board and Theymos reply was all over the thread I can't really remember if he was the OP of the thread but the thread had monthly updates of members of the forum that qualified for being a DT member that month.

Anyways I don't really know all the criterias to be selected by Theymos in the DT list but I know one of them is that you must be added by an already existing DT member preferably DT1 to be able to get a chance of getting on the list. And yes a newbie could someday be a DT member infact every DT member was once a newbie.

Regarding the questions, every member who is a DT today was once a Newbie. He didn't come here with all his reputation already, he was building it every day, contributing in some way to the forum. So, yes. Any member can become a DT.

That's not really how the system supposed to work, it should be actually based on how accurate someone's feedbacks and when you feel it's right or agree with their decisions then you may have to add them on your trust list.


Simple and straight answer, if you want to be a DT2 member, then someone with status DT1 should have added you in their trust list.

And if you wanted to be DT1 then you have to meet all the criteria and hope you will be included in the next DT update log.

I will periodically (maybe every month) be reconstructing the default trust list to include everyone who matches these criteria:
 - If rank was determined solely using earned merit, then you must be of at least Member rank.
 - You must have been online sometime within the last 3 days.
 - Your trust list must include at least 10 users, not including ~distrust entries.
 - You must not be banned or manually blacklisted from selection.
 - You must have posted sometime within the last 30 days.
 - You must have at least 10 people directly trusting you each with an earned merit of at least 10, not including merit you yourself sent. These "votes" are limited.
 - You must have at least 2 people directly trusting you with an earned merit of at least 250, not including merit you yourself sent. These "votes" are limited.

This is more accurate and how the system should work. Someone who has good judgment to be added to my trust list should be fairly trustworthy, but someone can be trustworthy without having good judgement. It is all unnecessary cause no one should be actively trying to build reputation. If you are offering a service and want to show you are trustworthy that is fine, but trying to get good feed-backs by taking out loans or engaging in other activities to farm trust is wrong.

That is the simple answer, there is a more complicated one that the user should not be excluded by other DT1 members.

Of course - all users here started from brand new with no contributions. Over time, they built their reputation by contributing to many things - including being a cheater hunter. But should everyone be racing to become a DT?

I don't know what the main motive is for new users to become DTs - but sure enough, any user can become a DT as long as they are included in the DT1 trust list. So - if they want to be DT, then make good contributions and be useful users. DT is not always about contributing with quality posts or being a cheater hunter - but there are many users who tend to make transactions involving money who are also DT. They are on the DT1 trust list because of their honesty and consistency in making safe transactions between users.

Did you mean a newbie as a DT? That's quite a feat, no newbie in the entire history got the trust of DT to include then on their list as early as few weeks.
Even the developers who contributed a lot can't have this feat. Plus, Dat are full of drama so better to avoid it at that early stage.

I seriously didn't wanna talk about this but, as duely observed, I'd like to ask ; do we really have people taking out loans and paying back huge returns just to farm positive feedbacks? Some of which may not even be achieved at the end? I think I understand everything now.

I'm not gonna talk about your second question since you've gotten a dozen of answers already, but why are you so curious to know these things?  Don't get me wrong, the default trust is one of the least problems I had when I was a newbie - i didn't even care about whatever happened on that list.
Do you wanna get on the DT list someday? What sort of proceedings are you requesting for?

I would think maybe a hero member or legendary member are the only ones on dt1

Time and good behavior really help you earn merits and move up the ranks.

So if you are a few months in it will take time to-make rank.

you are a full member in about 100 days. that is pretty good pace to move up.

It comes naturally and you only can be a DT member if you have good trust from community. Trust can not come directly and instantly to newbies, it needs time.

With new members, why do they join this forum?
Do they participate in this forum for becoming DT members?
I believe, they did not join the forum with that purpose. So they simply do their main interests here like learning, running their brand business and trust will come, DT member will come if they are trusted enough.

Why? Judging by your post history, you seem very concerned with Activity, Merit, Reputation and DefaultTrust.
You should read more, and post less. All your questions could easily have been answered that way.

You've never left any feedback, you don't know what a Trust list is, and you clearly shouldn't worry about Newbies wanting to reach DT. Newbies shouldn't be on DT in the first place.

I disagree. Building up a reputation shouldn't be your goal, it should at best be a "side effect" of your actions.

If only that was true! In reality, all it takes is to bid on an auction, leave the seller positive feedback, and without risking anything and without showing your judgement can be trusted, you're on DT2 within a few days:

Having been on the forum for many years, I am beginning to see some people. What do I see now? The previous topic brought enough merit to the participants who answered you. Then you create a report to everyone that you supposedly understood everything.

Op from the quote upon a quote, in the sense that you quoted your previous thread here which is from the quote and I also quote that your quote again and that is the upon the quote. And that is from you quote if really you read the answer there, then everything was clearly stated there instead of creating a spam thread. Op let me clearly state something I also learn from fillippone which helped me in the forum to a large extent. You are say for two major things. And those two things are the major things every one most do or know.

• You are here to learn what you don't know which is Bitcoin in specific
• And when you have learnt, you also educate others of what you have learnt

So the most important thing to do is to read and you asked questions base on what you have read if there is any difficulty to understand some setting things. But you are creating the contrary because from your previous thread, answers were given but you abandoned them and decided to create another thread again. Though in my understanding, you got some merits there so thinking that a similar thread can fetch more again. But be creative.

These questions are exactly similar to the questions in your previous topic, so why did you create a new topic again?  Didn't you follow the  sources from the previous topic which you got them from your respected people?  Or do you think the Meta board is a place of joke? I posted earlier to learn about DT members. I learned a lot from there. A brother posted on our local board (127 people were eligible to become DT-1 members. 127 people fulfilled the criteria to be DT-1, but only 100 were selected for DT-1, the rest were left out.) From there, I am interested in how it can be done, so I am posting this.
