You're right. Nuri (ex Bitwala) closed their doors at the end of 2022 due to insolvency. If you visit their website you will only get this screen:

Pretty funny screen for a insolvency if you ask me, haha.

Although, of course, it's a pity that another player in the German-speaking crypto banking sector is closing its door. That doesn't necessarily make it easier for customers.

This thread was last updated more than 5 years ago, so, it's completely dead. Many services that's listed in OP isn't available anymore. Some still works, but I wouldn't rely on this list.
It would be useful to get new version of such list.

Yeah, that’s the problem with old lists—they get outdated way too fast. Some of the services mentioned might still be around, but relying on them is a gamble.

Opening a bank account in the EU used to be a real hassle, especially if you weren’t a resident. But things have changed a lot in recent years. Now, many banks and fintech companies allow you to open an account entirely online, without ever setting foot in a branch. That’s a game-changer for freelancers, remote workers, and expats who need easy access to European banking.

From my own experience, Dashdevs has been a solid resource for navigating this space. They cover the best options, from traditional banks to digital-first platforms, making it way easier to find a solution that fits your needs. Definitely worth checking out!

Yes, good idea to back and update this thread.
Now we have better experience and knowledge to do that.

A good example is the post I wrote about the closure of Nuri (ex Bitwala), which came back as a mainly crypto wallet last year Smiley
