Bitcoin is the only one reaching new highs

There is no doubt in the long term for Bitcoin. We've seen it already. Those who have planned a long term hold a decade ago, they're already in massive profits.

Even when I started back in 2015 bitcoin was hovering around 600-700$/BTC and now it is 112k USD which is a huge jump. So in one decade it has increased so much, we can only assume what is going to happen in the next decade.

Altcoins have followed suit only. None of them are leading the market. If you are entering into altcoins, enter at your own risk, bitcoin is no doubt safest in the long term whatever price you buy at, but I cannot say the same for altcoins.

Short term gains is a different topic of discussion and altcoins might do well in that, but that is risky and I dont recommend it to anybody.

Whilst for Bitcoin, it is still there and making rounds globally. The amount of money that I've wasted for doing that is regretable but I can't help myself but just to learn from that mistake.

People mostly talk about new All Time Highs while there is a more vital thing: whether Bitcoin or an altcoin survive and don't die after a market cycle.

In history of cryptocurrency market, it has been proven that Bitcoin is one of oldest cryptoccurrencies but it is the only one has survived though many market cycles since 2009. Or maybe there are few other old projects still survive in 2025 but their prices have not performed well like Bitcoin have shown so far.

More reason why investing in Bitcoin is the way forward. We've seen many altcoins increases rapidly at a time during bull market and then fall heavily in the bear market. Of course, rising and falling is never a problem here since we are familiar with the fluctuating nature of the market but it becomes a problem when they're not able to surpass the previous ATH in the next circle like bitcoin normally does. To survive the bear market is one thing and to make a new ATH is another. Quite alright, some or majority of altcoins have the former but only Bitcoin seems to possess the latter for now.

Right, there are many Altcoins in the market but they are not able to make new hit. Bitcoin is the only one that is able to make new records regularly over time. The big fear about Altcoins is that when the market starts to run wrong, the Altcoin price goes up, when the market is in a recession, the price goes down, no new hit are seen like before, so I think this is the big problem with Altcoins. Only Bitcoin is able to make new ATH over time, and it is expected that the price of Bitcoin will increase a lot in the future.

I don't recommend people invest in altcoins because it is significantly riskier than bitcoin, but it is clear that not all altcoins are the same and they will all disappear over time. There are a lot of altcoins that were created 10 years ago and they are still around and growing today.

It's a different story about Dogecoin. I should have bought millions of it way back then but I am unsure of how it will be and never thought that it would pump.

ETH was also good at that time but it was a mistake that I didn't choose that. I guess that I can justify my mistake if these were the coins that I've converted back then.

But no more excuses, and a mistake is a mistake that I've done and I have moved on. Fortunately, I didn't do that much in conversion when the next years have come and I've held Bitcoin and never used it for exchanging into other alts.

Usually, the whales first invest in BTC, pump it and at a certain level, take profits and move the money to the altcoins and then again get profits.

Right now, we are seeing the same transition where Bitcoin isn't moving much, but ETH is leading the rally. The bitcoin dominance is decreasing, and I think a big altcoins season is awaiting us. However, I do not say that convert your bitcoin to ETH or altcoins, but if you have extra fiat money, it is time to invest in some altcoins and make quick money. Well, what you said is inline with what the Binance founder also said, and you both are right to be honest, judging from what we have seen so far, it is evident that not very many people are investing in cryptocurrencies right now, and the ones who are buying or investing are focusing only on bitcoin, and those buying right now are institutions, governments, wealthy individuals like Micheal Saylor and so on, this group of categories of people are not people we can say will one day take a gamble on any Altcoin, they will always focus on bitcoin and this is why bitcoin is the only prospective cryptocurrency worthy of delivering a possible ROI even though we can't currently tell how high or at what percentage.

As for me though, while holding what I can in bitcoin, I still take a gamble on some Altcoins I am hoping will still do well, this is basically because profit from bitcoin can not give me the type of money I want even if the price doubles, which we all know is unlikely in the short term, so I still gamble on Altcoins regardless that they don't have as much prospective as Bitcoin.

Yes, there will be no altcoin that can compare and match bitcoin in terms of value and capitalization, and bitcoin will also give the best returns. But this was only true for those who had the opportunity to buy BTC very early, it is no longer true for those who buy bitcoin these days. If we're honest, I don't think investing in bitcoin today will yield better returns than investing in altcoins. Altcoins have smaller market capitalizations and that means they have more opportunities to make profits.

But everything has its price, high returns come with higher risks. That is why investing in altcoins is less recommended.

It is clear that history is repeating itself and the transformation you speak of is happening, but the funny thing is that many people do not believe it and do not want it to happen. They just want bitcoin to be the only currency that grows but it doesn't matter what they want because the market doesn't care and moves according to their will.
Those who think bitcoin is the only coin to reach ATH will have to shut up after a while. Because altcoin season is inevitable, and i even bet that ETH will outperform bitcoin like in the last cycle.

You made good points. Altcoins has tendency of falling and rising with hype, just very little holds long-term worth. Bitcoin is still the best reliable asset in the cryptocurrency space, if at all there is a coin that regularly shows it can get all-time highs, it is Bitcoin. Altcoins seem to present niche purposes such as faster transactions or specific use, yet in place of lasting storage of worth and firm market trust, Bitcoin stays at the peak.

Altcoins could be profiting in a short term investment, and that mostly happens when there's a bull run, as we currently are seeing, while the top altcoins could be much better for investment in the altcoins sections, yet Bitcoin undoubtedly remains the best choice for investment on a long run.

The decentralised nature of Bitcoin makes it untouchable by any centralised body, and that is what makes it to remain on top of the crypto ranking.

Due to the centralised system revolving round the altcoins, the chances of them making tremendous movements in their price is restricted, as things can be changed in seconds, whereby when the demand increases, the supply can also be increased to maintain or control prices.

ETH did reach a new ATH, although for a short period of time (yesterday). It has retraced back to $4.4k. I know ETH has been bullish lately, but we can't claim "victory" until it gets past $5k. Even Bitcoin is suffering from a slight dip in market prices. But the OP is right, Bitcoin has been the one cryptocurrency with the most gains. Altcoins are having a hard time to remain bullish. Probably, it has to do with the fact that everybody is buying BTC like crazy. Especially because of the "Digital Gold" propaganda.

When you compare institutional capital inflows between BTC and ETH, you'll notice BTC prevails over ETH. The rest of the altcoins don't have spot ETFs of their own (except ETH), which means they depend on retail demand to succeed. I've read somewhere that Solana ETF applications were delayed by the SEC until October. If approved by then, SOL will become the next cryptocurrency to open its doors towards institutional investors (thus, paving the way for higher prices in the long term). I wonder if LTC and XRP will be next? Anyways, I'd "stick" with Bitcoin since it's the one with promising gains. ETH might need more than just institutional FOMO to go all the way to "Mars". Who knows? If Vitalik and team continues to work on network scalability, demand for ETH could rise. We'll see what happens in the long run.
