I have 5970's, anyone else seen or fixed this problem?

just doesn't adjust the voltage from stock

I have the conf file correct unless placement matters, put in the same area as auto fan, gpu clock, etc. all those work

I have reference cards, Windows 7 Home 64-bit and Radeon 12.6 with no extra SDK just the built-in

CMINER 2.6.4

OK I realize it can undervolt but was not overvolting that's why I switched to Sapphire Trixx to set the overclocks but i have to manually go in and keep typing memory clocks to get it down to under 300
if i try to set a voltage to 1.1v it defaults to 1.05, won't let me overvolt

do other programs like trixx or afterburner let you set the voltage?

What OS/driver/SDK/CGMiner version? Does it work if you remove the line from your config and use "--gpu-vddc 1.00" command option?

sorry, edited original post

newest CGMiner 2.6.4 and
"gpu-vddc" : "1.100",
is the line

okay im able to set the voltage, but the positions for the settings are not lining up with the cards at least according to GPU-Z
and one time i started it, showed 2 cores as sick but i restart with the same settings and none are sick

what is maximum voltage it can set vddc?
i accidentally put 1.6 but luckily doesn't look like i killed my card

You want the maximum stable voltages? Overvolting isn't a good idea, typically. It's a good way to burnout your cores, or overheat your VRMs... However, minimum voltages are 0.95. Stock is 1.05. A stock 5870 is what, 1.163? You try like 1.150 or 1.200 or so, but again a word of caution - those put a lot of extra heat on those VRMs, and running at high voltages for 24/7 is not a good idea.

no. i want 1.1v so i can get the most Mhash with core keeping at 85C like the other ones

Have you tried changing the voltage from within cgminer?  press "g" then "c" then "v".

no that defeats my purpose of being able to let it run itself unless i could add this stuff to the bat script

yes but if it works that way then we know it's not a problem with cgminer and likely a problem with your conf file.

not the config, why would undervolting work but not overvolting

Hi,

Can you help me why my XFX 6950 does not undervolt using cgminer?

I tried g, c, v and typed in 1 or 1.000 but it still reverts to 1.10 V (default).

Btw, my card is flashed to 6970 bios

Thanks.

it will let you undervolt but not overvolt? what size PS do you have? got enough power for multiple cards? ran into this problem with my 6 x 5830 setup. I need more COWBELL!  Sorry that just came to me.

Sorry for the very late response, i was busy with work.

Is it enough that i put it on my arguments of my cgminer.exe like this one:

cgminer.exe -o http://pit.deepbit.net:8332 -u username -p PASSWORD -o http://api2.bitcoin.cz:8332 -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD -I 8 --vectors 2 --worksize 128 --gpu-memclock 675 --gpu-engine 800 --gpu-vddc 1.0 --kernel diablo --auto-fan --auto-gpu

as you can see i put it --gpu-vddc 1.0 and I can still see 1.1 inside the cgminer console.

i think. the designer is very helpful you can see the original miner thread

the worksize etc. may be abbreviated for the bat script -b

its better to use the cgminer.conf file it's easy enough to configure
