I was first attracted to Bitcoins because it is an exciting, historic 'libertarian' revolution.

It really turned me into a saver.

My wife and I both work and no kids so we have money to spend and we love spending it. When I buy bitcoin I get the satisfaction of spending but I'm saving at the same time. I would have just spent the money somewhere else, so if it goes to zero then oh well.

It made me a lot more independent. Only being a high school student, it's made me less dependent on my parents. It's not only  Bitcoin but I'm talking about the Internet as well. It secured my future. As for the bitcoins, it made me realize what solutions can be done/created to combat high fees and tax. Since it's open source and fairly easy to use, I find everybody that I know will find it hopefully easy to use. Since some of my friends are using it, it cuts me the work of going out to the store and buying them something Cheesy I'm very lazy. Giving them a Bitcoin is giving them a piece of digital gold.

I still BTC as a nice hobby. Yes, I would like it to become something more then that but ATM I cannot say it actually changed or improved my life.

I did pay for a vacation using BTC which I made from smart investments. BTC was transferred into fiat.

The learning aspect is great. Getting better with the command prompt trying to install headless altcoins wallets etc. Not to mention trading. It just gives you a broader knowledge and that's always a good thing

Yes, they have actually inspired me to learn math on my own time (in university I got through classes not knowing ****), and have inspired me to pursue technology and become an inventor. Even if I fail, I know I want to do some thing novel and original with my life.

Bitcoin is simply awesome, there is no doubt about it. I learned so much about is and I still feel like I really don't know anything. When I heard about it first time I began to wonder how much we can improve with proper use of it. Now I see that possibilities are endless, the only limit is human creativity and ill will of governments and politicians.

That is a shame but at least you have had a good time in the process and surly have some awesome memories, i am yet to really benefit financially from bitcoin but i have learnt a lot and maybe i will be able to that into financial gain in future. The way to keep your money safe from all sorts of people and be your own bank is more than the financial gain at the moment anyway and who knows what the future holds.

I was personally quite motivated by bitcoin to assemble many new skills that i would have never got if bitcoin didnt cross my path.
I gained some coding, hardware, development skills that im proud of, and i extended range of useful connections that i would never usually have.
The financial part is quite promissing also, but in the end, even without money i would get involved in crypto space anytime.

cheers

Yeah i was lucky and did sell at $1000. I'd been doing jobs for bitcoins so the whole intention was to sell them straight on. Just happened that the majority I sold were at the top end in price.

That price spike was so long time ago that it seems like a myth at this point really when we are stuck with price less than $300. And I was attracted to bitcoin just because I heard about that amazing price increase.
But now I learned that it probably was just a hardcore pump and I could never happen again.

I didn't have improvements, only regrets of selling at 60$ a pop Tongue . I haven't really used bitcoin ever since not a lot of people around me actually use it. But I definitely see the scope for it, without mass adoption it won't be a reality though.

I will tell you once more time. Do not feel regret about it. It is the same as you would regret buying lottery ticket every time, because you could win afterall, but you didn't know the winning number then.
Unfortunately you learned that volatility of part of bitcoin and so far we can't do anything to change it.

I'm not gonna lie. bitcoin did improve my life a lot, but in exchange I became a little too obsessed with it that I spent a little too much time on the internet. it made me unable to work as well as I usually do in the real life. let's just say that my life went to 6/10 to 7.5/10 because of bitcoin, and the .5 is for the knowledge that I learned because of it.

It's fantastic, because I know Bitcoin isn't going to get devalued massively in the near future and I'll be able to afford stuff no matter how much my government prints I'm building up an income now, slowly but surely, it's going to be very interesting to see if governments will notice that people will be using Bitcoin so they don't get their wealth robbed either through inflation or tax. Even if they do notice it, what are they going to be able to do? The only thing they could affect is the exchanges, in which case, people will simply switch over to Bitcoin entirely.

Yes, seeing that bitcoin was created for more than just the concept of money & really opening a door into the world of software knowledge. Maybe a thread with "things cryptography can be useful for" (might even be one or two like that already over the years), many new ideas over the last year have been realized & many lessons that can not be taught in schools or everyday life.

Yes. It helped me in many ways, especially in understanding certain economic situations that I have been clueless for some point in my life. It also helped me financially, as it helped me save some money that I cannot do with fiat. Aside from those, bitcoin also helped me in expressing some ideas that I have in my mind and discuss it with the rest of the world. I know that I can live without bitcoins in my life, but the moment I discovered it, it literally changed my way of thinking and helped me understand how painful it is to live with the banks and other financial institutions when you can go against those thing.

Bitcoins has not exactly helped to improve my life but I have used it as another payment processor along with PayPal/Payza and so on. Since people accept bitcoin payments and use this payment method to buy gift cards, I have benefited in selling many gift cards and then have exchanged it for PayPal cash which has benefited me.

I suppose a lot of people feel that way. They couldn't justify buying gold/real estate/whatever due to the unimpressive growth potential, but BTC is a different matter. So they save.

If I can write my thought here:

Bitcoin helped me in these "years" to improve my knowledge about tha actual world and how 'money' works. I'm also in a bad economic situation and each dollar can help me to pass the month, at that problem the bitcoin world helped me to start a little service and gain some money without any type of problem.

Thanks for this thread.

BTC has improved my life massively.

Over the last 18 months I have literrally scammed hundreds of BTC probably around $60,000 worth.

Much more profitable than mining, no hardware costs, no electricity costs.

I have been amazed by bitcoin and the way it worked and since I started mining at 2013 I have only worked as self employed in crypto industry. No more eight hours a day, five a week, four a month. No more bosses and crowds and all of that...just working in a field I like, making reasonable money. Being able to travel. Simply great! Thanks cryptos!

Yes, they have actually inspired me to learn math on my own time (in university I got through classes not knowing ****), and have inspired me to pursue technology and become an inventor. Even if I fail, I know I want to do some thing novel and original with my life.

Bitcoins make our world a much richer, more open ocean of opportunity, OpenOcean.  Smiley

I don't think it has helped my life yet, since it can't be readily spent places and exchanging it is a hassle. However it makes it easier for sending things online, and has introduced me to this forums which I have over 23 days online so far Tongue
Definitely bitcoin has not helped my life, only done the opposite, but I think its worth it,

Better question would be to ask how bitcoin has affected people's lives in general; your thread will only bring out early adopters who struck it rich, or traders who made a fortune off the backs of traders who lost fortunes...

I have to talk my sad story again. I earned a lot from btc in 2013 and 2014, but I invested my 60btc(600USD at that time) into a shit altcoin, called vootcoin, and my investment was screwed by that scammer dev. So I bankrupted because of this vootcoin scam.

So btc made me rich, altcoin made me poor. I only play btc now, won't play any shit altcoin in the future. I should withdraw them but I did bad investment in altcoin, and scammed by a scammer dev.

I bought my coins when they were quite cheap. And in 2014, when I was without a job for 6 months, I survived by cashing out some of my coins. I don't know what would have happened without them.... It could have been really really hard...

Most importantly it taught me that big ideas are worth pursuing.  Even if their probability of success seems small.  It is worth trying to change the world and making it a better place.  Small groups of smart, motivated people can really make a difference!  3 years ago when I started learning about bitcoin, I was certain it would get shut down and would be killed in the crib... Absolutely amazing where we are now!

Making me lots of BTCBTCBTC was a nice plus as well  Grin

Personally for me is yes. Im student of university, in my country if you want to have good work

for your finance you must have a title of degree and its not short time and the cost is not cheap.

Then i found bitcoin and online freelance which i can earn some money from there.

I think it changed my outlook on "money" ..... I have learned a lot in a very short period and it's not just about "money"

I would most probably not invested any time to understand "Cryptography" and I did with Bitcoin.

I have began to research "Economic" jargon and lingo and ways of making money and how to give back more than what you receive.
My "Pay it forward" principle was once again re-enforced, when I started using and researching Bitcoins.

I would say, it is VERY positive.  Grin Grin

It helped me, searching for what I realy want in life, taking control back in my hands, that is what Satoshi and bitcoin made clear to me, I have been too chained to my own self image that has been pretty low, not only due to bitcoin, but it helped a lot. Bitcoin made it possible for me to easily pursue things that make me happy in life and get paid too. The world is my market now, that is what bitcoin brought me Smiley

I started doing doodles for bitcoin and people seem to like it a lot! And I really enjoy drawing, creating and making people happy with a simple thing as a doodle or drawing.

I hope this is a joke...

but seriously I think if anything btc can show people that govt issued currencies are not the only means of transferring money.  I think it also should open peoples eyes up to the many many problems with govt fiat, including inflation, counterfeiting and financial fraud.  with BTC, these issues are a lot harder.

A lot of people were suckered in by the fraudulent price manipulation in 2013 by mt gox.  I'd still be weary of holding btc for any length of time becasue I think more damage has been done to peoples confidence in btc than you may realize.  Plus large investors aren't going to risk losing their money if a govt decides they want to outlaw btc use.

That is true. Atleast BTC2 million has been stolen in various exchange hacks and wallet robberies since the start of 2014. That is, 15% of all the Bitcoins in circulation has been stolen in a period of just 15 months. This can't go on like this.

I agree.  I think this fact alone (ignoring even the wild price swings & many scams) is bad news for btc.  Enough to make any super-bull turn into a bear.  If you dont think this is a major issue, you're crazy.  Also the fact that nothing at all has been resolved as to where these stolen btc are going is even more torubling.

Also add the fact that "satoshi" controls a large percent of the btc in cirtculation...

I agree.  Bitcoin has taken over.  I'm only 6 short of having 400BTC in cold storage.  It pays for my life now and the future.  Mind you, I don't put all my eggs in 1 basket.  I trade approx. 25% of my coins for gold.  Gotta have backups.

Bitcoin made me some money which is never a bad thing. It made me fat but provided priceless entertainment. Back in 2010 and prior I used to take long walks on the panhandle of Golden Gate Park, cruse up and down the haight window shopping, walk embarcadero from pier 1 to 29, bike the marina district all the way to fort point, bike around the presidio. Now I'm a fat lazy piece of crap that spends all of his time looking at this forum. A friend asked me to do Bay to Breakers with him this year and I told him I couldn't because I thought I might pass out from the hills. I can barely walk to the kitchen for a beer anymore.

The upside has been the entertainment value of this forum. I laughed for a week when I found out Bitcoinica was operated by a 16 year old scammer from Guangzhou and another week when Karpeles lost an Empire State Building sized pile of Bitcoin's. LOL  Another 16 year old kid, Atlas, used to crack me up every week with his stupidity. Matthew Wright used to attack people over the weirdest shit and start throwing around some of the most interesting banter I've ever witnessed. Bruno would get into debates over the value of being a furry with Rassah. The My little Pony gang was all here pulling some pretty interesting shit. Their leader PinkiePie got everyone to believe she was an abused teen but it was all an elaborate troll. LOL Most recently, Bruno just posted all of his ID cards, social security, drivers license number everything! ROFL

I was first attracted to Bitcoins because it is an exciting, historic 'libertarian' revolution.
Have Bitcoins helped to improve your life?
How/why?

my honest answer. Bitcoin was an outlet that had me gamble. I lost over 7 BTC awhile back. It was my own fault, I wasn't meaning to bet it all. What happened was I accidentally pressed the wrong key on the keyboard. I ended up max betting when I meant to press the button for minimum bet. The only reason I had all my btc there was CEX.IO was crashing and I panicked and needed a quick place to send everything to that was not on my local machine. I sent it all there and while I was waiting for it to arrive i was messing around with min bets and doing 100,000 satoshi every now and then. It arrived and after 30 mins of messing around i accidentally did that and lost it. Could have easily done the same thing with us dollars online if they allowed it.

Bitcoin has lost me the most amount of money I have ever lost in my 28 years of being alive. Haven't had any other losses besides like losing a gameboy that was 100 bucks or something when i was smaller.

Bitcoin sucked me in with the frenzy of everyone. It still is a good model as far as I can see. But it is not very practical for anything I do. I won't use it as a payment system unless i absolutely have to, because of the tax implications that will arise from it and the hassle. I am a busy person and anything that gives me more hassle is eliminated from my life. I used bitcoins for buying an online game and buying a serial key for Office.

Credit cards offer 5% discounts on everyday items bought from stores, 5% off gas, grocery stores, malls, movie tickets, special discounts for 20% off special events, ability to order  exclusive tickets for concerts in advance with certain higher end cards(no interest if you make a min payment of 25 bucks a month and no yearly fee also). Bitcoin has a little way to go before it gets this good, although i am sure it will be incorporated into something that can be as beneficial as this.

I haven't really posted on here anymore because 1. Nothing has changed 2. It is a waste of my time when I could be building my youtube channel larger(12,000 subscribers 850,000 views I gained in 4 months) 3. Most of the people here post the same thing on a different day 4. There isn't anything else to be said about bitcoin right now.

I am honestly surprised this forum still exists. There is nothing to post about in my humble opinion.

No news to anyone, most things in the internet can only be bought or even donated only in USD.
The problem is, without a international CC, you can make nothing. Recieving USD in a bank account in my contry is even more pain, there's taxes everywhere that drain your money a lot.

So it helped me with those internet things, like Humble Bundle and other donations, where I could finally do something without being taxed a lot only because the government don't want me to use other country fiat.

Bitcoins have helped me learn a lot about technology, pretty much. If I wasn't interested in Bitcoin, then I wouldn't be interested in custom PCs, which means I wouldn't have experience with building them. Luckily, I was interested. Also, Bitcoin has helped me know a lot more about cryptocurrencies (obviously). So now, I can buy things without giving out too much detail about myself. I'm learning a lot, and will continue to learn about it. Bitcoins have improved my life.

I also found it exciting when i first found Bitcoin, then i kind of got hooked on it like an addiction and started spending more time online not doing as much in the real world as i did before Bitcoin. I have calmed that down now and i am thankful that i could spend that amount of time, because i did learn a lot within that time, mainly economic and a few skills such as trading. So yes it has improved my life in the end and also financially which is good Smiley

And when you have your money in your pocket you are not in the control? I know that you probably are referring that money are government ensued property etc. But for now you don't have much control over bitcoin at all, one day bitcoin price is $300 and the next $200. I would not call that control.

And when you have your money in your pocket you are not in the control? I know that you probably are referring that money are government ensued property etc. But for now you don't have much control over bitcoin at all, one day bitcoin price is $300 and the next $200. I would not call that control.

There are very few fiat currencies with fixed exchange rates. Exchange rates for these currencies can also be very volatile. For example, the Ukrainian Hryvnia was trading against the USD at 1 USD = 7.9 UAH one year ago. Right now, the exchange rate is like 1 USD = 24 UAH. So the volatile exchange rates are a problem for most of the currencies, not just BTC.

Aside from the learning side, I've mainly used Bitcoin for remittance. Helped me a lot.

I was first attracted to Bitcoins because it is an exciting, historic 'libertarian' revolution.

Same for me actually.

Have Bitcoins helped to improve your life?
How/why?

Not yet, but my hope is for that in the future they will. I plan on saving/acquiring as many as I can for a long term investment. Would love to buy a house or something with them in the future.

Yes. Other than simplicity of use for purchasing everything I need, I learned how to trade (forex too and make some decent enough money) and many other things security related, a bit of programming and so on.

2) bitcoin introduced me to new field of studies such as cryptography and finance
