I have seen a lot of threads regarding directory.io and I know one should spend more than his lifetime to search for all addresses and to check if there is any balance in there. Are private keys of hardware wallets addresses on that page or only software ones ?

Does your hardware wallet use an address (or addresses) beginning with a 1? If so, it will be on directory.io somewhere. It doesn't matter what device the address is generated on, as directory.io just generates every possible non-P2SH (3 prefix) address and throws it out there.

Correct. directory.io publishes only bitcoin address that starts with "1". To give you a brief history, when directory.io started to list every bitcoin private key alongside its corresponding public address. this cause panic which some even speculate that it will cause the downfall of bitcoin, as a result it has somewhat affected the price negatively. However, I think this just proves how bitcoin protocol strength. It will take you years if you want to search directory.io and look for a matching private keys.

On a legit note, I was bored as shit sitting in this hotel room as I travel for work. I found an address with exactly the miner fee by randomly searching http://btckey.space. I instantly ran down to the "news station" (What the UK calls a convenience store) and bought two scratch off lottery tickets, I didn't win, haha. But I did stumble on an address with a balance...out of all these years....

Isn't that screenshot is showing up the private keys related to an address. I m wondering why that is not security issue ? Or is it just the demonstration of something that I don't understand. What's this all about. Please help me understand. Thanks.

I don't know why, but I am only able to see the balances of half the address' per page only. Screenshots : That happens to me every so often, does it eventually show both after a refresh? What's happening is the second half is being rate limited by blockchain.info. I am currently working on a new version that doesn't use blockchain.info. Thanks, Jude

Alrighty,
You no longer have to force CORS using Fiddler or browser extension, it just works!
I am working on a PK search feature too.
If you have any suggestions let me know!

It is fake. How would such a toll exist to mass produce private key off addresses it finds ? If this is true we all at risk. It's just a for fun site. Joke site.

It's not "fake", your odds are just horrible. You have better luck winning the lottery then getting struck by lightening, but it's not impossible. I was randomly entering numbers in the URL and found an address with a very small balance (Miner fee). I didn't move the funds but it blew my mind I actually landed on something. There is nothing "fake" about the site tho... It is indeed just a for fun site. Thanks, Jude

New design!
Plan on adding a "surf" button for previous and next pages to automatically go to the previous or next page at a set interval.
Probably going to add some more tools for other things to make it a more serious resource, particularly regarding Bitcoin private keys.
Thanks, Jude

Nice new design! Site really works. I spend about 1 hour to find my private key and its adress with some balance on it (I didn't use form "Search Private Key"). And when I found it I had alert with message "You found a balance!". So if you find some address with balance you won't miss it. Making "Surf" button is great idea.

That's a great site! I really hope the surf option will work soon. Currently I use a free macro recorder ( http://www.mouserecorder.com/) to automatically click on the Next button but I cannot use the PC at this time because the macro stops (of course) as soon as I move the mouse. So an auto clicker on btcdirectory.azurewebsites.net would be great :-) Yesterday I found a balance on page 2. It was a very tiny amount and the balance sheet even showed me a negative amount (-523 Satoshis or so) but it was nice to see what happens when you find an account with a balance in it. A window pops up, informing you that there is a balance and you cannot move on before confirming that message. So there is almost no chance you overlook something. Even if the wallet is not visible on the screen because it is at the very end of the page (it was the last one of page 2). A few minutes later the amount disappeared from that wallet. Seems that someone tested something. But apart from that occurrence I haven't found anything yet. Odds are not too good with so much possible keys but hey, its like playing lotto for free.

It's Golang for key generation and JavaScript for checking balances.
