I have read this threads's first page and i am wondering that quickseller and hilariousandco appreciated that this would make hard for new fake accounts to copy the real accounts like identity , but i have seen many accounts which have only 1 or 2 posts and have avatar(Newbie). i am confused are they exploiting any bugs that is enabling them to upload avatars.
i found those accounts in digital goods one of the guy claiming it to be made in 2011 , dont know if it is true or not..just wanna inform you guys here.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

it was possible for newbies to upload avatars before the 2013 hack. that why you see some newbies from 2011-2013 that already have avatars.

no, it's called being very inactive.

farming accounts is something like making 1 (or 14 for some) post every two weeks without missing any of those two weeks. AFAIK nobody even sell bitcointalk accounts back in 2012.

People still buy these accounts?
I thought only scammers could use them for something.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=47486

How is it possible?

that user was registered on 2011, 2+ years before the hack that forced theymos to disable the feature for almost 2 years happened. there was no rank restriction back then.

I made a post above explaining this.

I don't think so, but maybe someone figured out a way to get around it. Seen this guy offering a service to create them: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2548200.0

I believe it is related to animated png's, not gifs. At some point in time I remember making the determination in my head that animation had become allowed again but I believe it was just because I had seen some other users with one.

You gonna get your avatar when you reach a Full Member rank so you are kind of right. Still a dream only. Wink

It's not a dream, but it's only for people who can read posts, and not bump out of date old threads. Stop posting annoying necro-bumps like this worthless one, and maybe you might get to use one.

Good to see some fresh avatars on the forum. What is the reason though to limit avatar uploads to only full member and upwards? Why not add members?

Probably to minimise the possibility of abuse. You can achieve Member status in as little as 16 days whereas it's a bit longer for Full Member. And as mentioned above it's a nice perk to achieve with time. You're nearly a Full Member as well so not long to wait.

I don't think you can achieve member status in 16 days?

Yes I know but I'll still have to wait a week or two, which is painful. If avatars are disabled again, oh well...

You are absolutely right Monnt it is difficult to reach Full Member in 16 days of period for any newbie unless he is an expert in using bitcointalk as well as writing good content about the topic/subject - I have been trying my best to get few Merits to become a member which is still a dream for me as of now

Wish me good Luck and I am inspired by seeing your activity and merits - you must have done a great work to achieve more merits than the activity - A Big Cheers for you.

Would you please suggest a method I need to follow to get some merit please

All these days I have been writing about different coins on different server - As per my observation the people who does make their bitcointalk bounty (Coin owner) themselves  are new to bitcointalk and they are starting with newbie role though we write some contest on their bitcointalk topic there wasn't any appreciation for that in terms of Merits

Yes i agree apart from coin owners there are some Legendary/Members/FullMembers and Heros are there in those topics but they barely give merits to others - I am 100% not sure what they think.

Anyway this is just my observation on bitcointalk from last few months - felt like sharing with you Monnt

I would love this option of allowing users to have Avatar and good to protect it from being misused. As a members those who start Journey with bitcointalk should also have some Patience to get to those Ranks like FullMember.

LOL can you locate the reason for you that is holding you back from ranking up? 130 activity and yet no merit, still a Jr. Member.

Mate, No disrespect - have you checked the dates of those posts? It was on April 01, 2015. there were no merit requirements. Only activities I guess. So it was comparatively easy to rank up.

Just stop posting blindly on everything. Before posting anything do a little reading on the comments made, and notice when and why they made.

Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. If I am not wrong then the use Monnt hasn't earn any single merit yet. All these merits are from the free airdrop.

@LoyceV: I have noticed for some users the merit data shows nothing. i.e: this http://loycevsbasement.privatedns.org/Merit/history/393987.html
Is there any specific reason? Thanks mate in advance.

Be happy be at peace. Looking forward to BTC at $1M
