Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Coin not even started and already dead, WOC also dead

WOCX is even not started....

WOC was planned to be swap anyway based on the latest information from yesterday, so maybe dev already notice the problems with SHA-256 type of coins and want to swap it. Anyway, the idea is still the same, and i keep mine 5,000 coins that i have bought and mine.

I think if you are going to host ICOs you should check the code first. 5 minute to find that obvious exploit. I don't believe you weren't in on it.

Come on? For the little fee that i receive to do a ICO.... peopel who mine it, who invest in it should check the code. In fact when you buy a car you also don't check all the material you just buy it, and then Nissan comes and say, we need to get 5000 cars back because of break failures. If i receive 2 or 3 BTC for escrow a ICO then you have a point like what exchanges are asking, then they have money to do a review, but i'm not planning to check the source for a few bucks. It is escrow not code manager or so.

Buyer beware - I am posting this publicly only because of the severity of the issue.  In the process of reviewing WoC for listing yesterday a major exploit was uncovered in the code.

WarOfCoins has what appears to be an exploit within it that allows for a block to be mined with any amount of coins desired. This means that anyone else can mine a block with say 100,000 coins in it, rather than just 5 coins as it should be.

You can check the code here: https://github.com/warofcoins/warofcoins/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L1623

The PoW "amount of coins" check is commented out and thus blocks will not actually be checked.

I can't speak for the intention of the code, but only for its existence.  C-Cex was notified last night of the discovery.

thanks,
richie@bittrex

Now that dev has fixed the issue, does it mean that it will be on Bittrex Wink

As mentioned in the other thread, do we still need to exchange our WOC for WOCX or has that been nixed

You will have to swap WOC for WOCX when WOCX is released.

Primary reason to switch to WOCX is to have more secure coin.
We are now doing deep inspection and testing of future WOCX.

Also delete everything except for the wallet.dat and re-download the blockchain. Or rename the directory where the wallet.dat is, re-download the chain and then copy the wallet.dat back to the new directory.

Highly unlikely that there will still be errors after that because if there are then it is the wallet.dat file. If there are still errors, dump and re-import the private key into a new wallet.dat or the normal options of repairwallet.

correct, you have to re-download the blockchain. We are moving away from WOC and start checking how to do the swap.
