WoodCollector is a serial fantasist/bullshitter and is just trolling with this thread trying to sell of his remaining crapcoins.

If I am honest, I found out that Woodcollector was a liar and a thief and decided I do not want his pieces any more, no matter how rich he may be and famous. I was getting other pieces made by him but could no longer trust him as he did something very sneaky and also failed to ship a piece i ordered from him.

Eh? Are you saying if you found this out or this is what actually happened? Can you please elaborate?

He has shown me evidence he is who he says he is. Am I a sock puppet too?
BTW: laser engravers and CNC mills don't leave the wood grain behind when they are used to carve designs: http://imgur.com/9C8j2ob,FFRWjzP,toHOwhj

Now that's something I find strange, he posted videos, but if he has further proof, why not post it?

He did post it. Not only was he banned from this forum that day (he unbanned himself with an exploit),

Lolwut  Roll Eyes. You'd believe he was Jesus Christ if told you so. He never posted any sufficient proof but sometimes people believe what they want to believe.

This is indeed a popcorn inducing statement.
If an existing client of WC can no longer trust him because of very sneakiness, who in the world can give this highly fantastical titanium container and its contents any credibility whatsoever?

He has shown me evidence he is who he says he is. Am I a sock puppet too?
BTW: laser engravers and CNC mills don't leave the wood grain behind when they are used to carve designs:

I watched the infamous disappeared videos and there was absolutely no indication that the techniques used in them could produce the intricate detail of the coins in question. imo.

There seem to be a number of posters who are willing to believe there is some substance to this treasure hunt. That's entirely up to them, it's an attractive fantasy that can indeed fire the imagination. We all like a bit of mystery and 'what if' in life unless we are emotionally stunted, but the problem is that scammers know this and exploit it, especially when the amounts of money involved are substantial.
Proposals like this, offered by safely annonymous people who stand to gain from them, bedevil Bitcoin.
It's a shame, because every time they turn out to be just another scam, some of the shit sticks and make the perceived link between Bitcoin and fraud stronger, to the detriment of BTC itself.

It's 1000 adresses with 5 BTC in each. Other approach is to see if there are at all 1000 addresses which have exactly 5 BTC in them. I'm trying to look into this.

I'd like to know more details on this. It's definitely a bizarre situation.

honestly all we need is a signed message from the address containing 5kBTC. That's it.

Given the 'evidence' he's previously provided as proof of his ridiculous claims he'll probably hand-sign a tatty piece of paper with '5kbtc' written on it and then techshare will confirm how legit he is.

I'm not 100% for sure but i think this could be done with znort987's Block Parser.

The only problem is 5 is a round number and i am sure there are a lot of people who store smaller amounts in multiple addresses so it would be difficult to determine which were which. I know i start a new paper wallet every time one reaches 10 BTC and there are quite a few others like me, and after looking through bitcoinrichlist there are tons of people who store exactly 100BTC per address so i really dont know how effective it would be at proving anything.

Still might be worth checking out. If he funded each of the 1,000 coins from the same original address you could pick them out by taint on blockchain.info for sure. Although if he funded them through different addresses it would be more difficult.

Eh? Are you saying if you found this out or this is what actually happened? Can you please elaborate?

Just an opinion, but i think what happened here is ukcrypto is reacting to my calling him out as he wanted me to pay 15BTC per coin just yesterday for his two coins.

He made some pretty outlandish claims and i found someone who could prove they knew WC outside of bitcoin and i asked him if he knew anything about this.

This was ukcryptos original message

Asking Price 15BTC per coin. I know who he is as we spoke at lengths on skype on numerous occasions. I commissioned a number of pieces - a bitcoin plaque and also 3 eternity vases for my wife. His identity came to light when i was sending him $15k for the vases and only wanted to do a bank transfer, no way i can share it with you, that would go against my word which i gave him. However, the coins if bought may come with a note with his name on. He is a nice guy, work displayed in the Louvre and art galleries around the world (found this out on google and wiki) - I spent 10+ hours just watching him carving on skype, he is an interesting fellow.

When i asked someone who i knew would know about it or could find out i was informed of ukcryptos con artist lying tendancies and felt it prudent to bring it to light in the event he was going to try and rip someone off with the two coins he owned.

Pretty sure that 100% of anything said by ukcrypto from the moment i called him out that nearly everything he typed in that message was a lie is just an attempt to try and redeem himself and draw away from the fact that he is untrustworthy so he can try and sell his coins for 10BTC each or worse scam someone in some fashion.

He didn't post a video, and he didn't unban himself, he was banned for 5 days for spamming, deleting and reposting the same post over and over on one of his sockpuppet accounts.

Hi there Mr. Admin.

Just want to make sure i am reading that right. You banned him because you suspected him of having a second account and that account copy/pasted something he said multiple times? or you banned him for spamming himself?

I've followed the story of these 10 wooden-art-coins with limited interest and am familiar with the controversy surrounding them.  To be honest, I am skeptical of the hidden treasure claim.  I would, however, like to say that I am glad WoodCollector decided to hide the "titanium air proof time capsule container" containing 1,000 bronze 5BTC denominated coins on this planet rather than some god-forsaken planet like HD 189773b where it rains glass and 4,000 mile per hour winds buffet the surface.  At the same time, I wonder aloud if these bronze coins are hand-carved...
Still, in a land of sock-puppets and scammers, a story of buried treasure and the promise of riches linked to these 10 possibly "hand-carved", wooden, work-of-art coins would certainly increase their value.  I would imagine there are also criminal elements who would now stop at nothing to get their hands on these wooden-art-coins thereby placing the current owners directly in harm's way.  WoodCollecter, I know you have fled the forum but if any of your sock puppets are still around (provided you had any), you should know that you have done a disservice to your customers by placing their lives in danger for simply owning one of your works of art.  If I were an anonymous owner of one of these pieces, I would endeavour to remain anonymous.  It might be safest for all involved to secretly gather together all of those allegedly "hand-carved" wooden art coins, place them in a 22" by 8" round "titanium air proof time capsule container" and launch them into space on the next flight out.  Perhaps future generations will be better equipped to deal with the drama.

Paranoid much? Theymos has all but stolen over a million USD from members of this forums and i dont see anyone hunting him down yet.

WTF man that was my best satirical post ever!

This entire drama is concocted bullshit from the inception of the idea of the exotic-wood, personalised, hand-carved coin-art pieces to the "exit" of WoodCollector.  There is no treasure, WoodCollecter is very much still here using one of many alts and nobody is in any danger for owning 1/10 of a share in an imaginary "map" that leads to an imaginary "treasure".  While I'm spelling everything out so clearly for you, I might as well add that I am not paranoid, Theymos hasn't stolen anything from members of this forum and in order for you to pluralize "forum", you need to use the article "these" before it.  An alternative would be to use the singular form "forum".

Thanks for the english lesson Hemingway. Not sure how exotic wood hand carved coins are a "concoction". They are a million times more unique, original, and beautiful then some of the garbage cookie cutter metal coins i have seen in the marketplace these days. Sounds to me like you're just another one of the disgruntled masses on the forum who are here more for the drama and attention then to contribute anything of value beyond your english lessons.

And for the record, theymos has stolen a ton from the forum members. over a million dollars on a concoted bullshit new forum which is 100% nothing more then the drupal forum module with the drupal core stripped away from it to operate as a stand alone platform. Claims of salaries for the developers which are higher than even googles top developers make in a year, and all we have to see or show for it is a stripped down, stand alone drupal forum module on github which is still not live on this domain. You can mark my words and even quote me on this, by this time next year the new platform will still not be launched on this domain. Even if it were, over $850,000+ in funds were embezeled through the project as a guy could hire a developer from india to do what they have done for less than $100k and it would have been done in less than 6 months. This new worlds most expensive forum platform goes so far as to use the same WYSIWYG API and ckeditor libraries line for line as they appear in the drupal packages. The only thing they have done is change the php to work with the sql tables from SMF and make a stand alone core out of the existing .tpl files and skeleton framework.

So please tell me again how theymos has not stolen and/or embezeled from the forum members who donated towards this revolutionary new platform. I cant wait to hear more about it.

I like that story. Unfortunately he proved the story wrong the moment he did not provide proof of him owning an address holding 5,000 BTC or more. For someone that long in Bitcoin that he could accumulate that sum it would have been the first thing to do now. An address showing 5k of coins spread over 1000 addresses would be the next one.

So no, i doubt that makes sense, especially since the first person comes out wanting to sell its coin. The seller speaks about not wanting to go on a hunt but he could take part pretty passive and still get his share since he thinks about his beloved ones. Dont make sense too.

Oh and hand crafting 1k coins? Really? How long would that take? Doing it with a programmable machine might be working though.

Saying that... i love the story so far. Im very sure its not true but im very sure this story will live on a long time. Because people love hidden treasures. I mean everyone reading that had, only for a moment, the urge to go find it. Im sure... Wink

Edit: I only now found that the 1000 ones are bronze, not wood.

If all the owners of the pieces could provide pictures, that would be great. Joining everyone would be expensive, and buying all the coins would be immensely expensive. Both infeasible as far as I can see... If this does exist, I don't see how it can't be discovered putting pictures of all coins, from all angles, side by side.
This is bullshit, not even worth wasting time. The guy is a fraud and he even came with his puppet ukcrypto to say he's a rich and famous artist.
His previous work has sold for millions... but he can't afford to buy a good lathe. He most likely doesn't even own a laser cutter, just sends the designs to someone who does.

He has shown me evidence he is who he says he is. Am I a sock puppet too?
BTW: laser engravers and CNC mills don't leave the wood grain behind when they are used to carve designs: http://imgur.com/9C8j2ob,FFRWjzP,toHOwhj

You make me think sir. Can you tell the nature of the proof given?

The wood grain can very well be programmed to be created. And i think its hard to impossible to manually create a coin with such perfection.

Edit: I see... vanished videos and not recorded skype sessions are mentioned in the thread.

I think there was never a real proof. Though i feel some strange sort of respect about the scamming abilities. Coming up with that story, orchestrating it this way, and being able to make it in a way that lets me think that there will be enough people that will want to believe.

Not the usual scammer.

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

So then there should be a wallet with 5,000BTC in it and an address that can be confirmed.

I've seen some outrageous things on this forum but this takes the cake.  A guy who was a two bit scam artist now claims to have just dropped 1.2 million dollars on the ground for someone to pick up?

Oh wait, and this (http://blogs-images.forbes.com/perianneboring/files/2014/02/bitcoin-wall.jpg) is from when WC was a designer from forbes right?

First, its a canstock vector that has 0 to do with bitcoin. The bitcoin elements were added by me in my digital print derivitive. Second, its a canstock photo vector in which i had to buy the rights to use and use in in up to 2,500 prints. Third, well, your just a dipshit. You are so desperate to regain everyones approval after you trolled your way right off the trust list with Canary by your side when you started shit with WC that you will say and do nearly anything and keep pissing in the wind until your actually right about something. Sorry to slap you with some truth but your pretty far off base and right back to making yourself look like an idiot here.
