That's the boat I'm in as well. None of the Bitcoin debit cards ship to the continental US, so I'm pretty much screwed. Sucks for one's willing to be guinea pigs. OH well, as soon as the regulatory framework finally gets established, there'll be a ton of these cards on the market....

+1 Bitcoin debit card is a vague concept just like bitcoin ATM. These are unnecessary and has no real world utility. Bitcoin online wallet serves well the purpose of debit cards.

But most places don't accept payment from a smartphone. At least not in my country (though this might change in the future). Why don't you try find someone one a country that will receive them for you and reship them on?

I hear where you're coming from, but it's bad enough I have to give all my personal info to Bit-X just to sign up for the card. Now I have provide additional info to a complete stranger in another country?!!! No offense to any of you overseas, I Love all my fellow Bitcoiners across the globe. One of the main points I got into Bitcoin was the complete anonymity it provides, and providing my personal info and phone number to a centralized exchange, and my shipping address to a complete stranger totally go against that. No thanks.

Most people don't mind as they trust the exchange. You don't have to provide your shipping address to a complete stranger!

Yet 99% of merchants have never heard of and won't accept bitcoin in the near future.

Yea I know, I was referring to Tarantino's suggestion to get someone overseas ship the debit card to me, which require me providing a valid shipping address to a person I would have to somehow "trust". Unfortunately, I don't know too many people around the world outside of my country the USA, that I'd just give my home or work shipping address randomly.

verification method is much difficult to get Bitcoin Debit Card because some people don't want to share their documents with 3rd party so make it simple and accessable for every person without miner verification.

the idea is cool but, no i would not use it because
fees too high
no verification limit too low
no anon with amount above 500
and i don't know how fast are money transferred from my account to debit card, they can be used istantly?
Fees are not that high in my opinion for some cards, others have very high fees. Hopefully they can be reduced even further one day! Verification is compulsory according to AML and KYC laws and regulations, however be assured that all data is safe with companies like https://bit-x.com, Once you pay for something using Bit-X's Debit MasterCard™ for example, the BTC is exchanged instantly at the time of payment, not before or after (you won't lose money due to the volatile exchange rate). Bit-X card has very high and unreasonable fees, same with ANXpro. Xapo's is the most competitive card by far.

I definetly need something similar to bitcoin debit card, and i was pretty enthusiastic about the idea, but after recent experience with somewhat similar skrill mastercard, i am not so impressed. The thing is, that if you must make currency conversion when ure making a withdraw @ atm machine, u are going to loose alot of money to fee's. For example, i am in EU, and after making withdraw of about 200$, my account was charged 220$+, and most of it is not card provider's fault, its the conversion rate that kills you.
Some people said they can make ATM withdrawals in multiple currencies, sadly, i have found no such option here. The concept is quite amazing, but theres that middle man again, making his claims.
cheers

I can say that the Bit-x Mastercard has huge ass fees. I wouldn't use the card despite non verification means that I can still spend 750. The monthly fee (waived for first 10k) is still too high and withdrawal from atms for 10 bucks is also too much. If Bit-x could lower their fees, it might be a much more valuable asset to have.

I am not using normal debit card at all why should I use bitcoin version of it? I don't like credit or debit cards in general it does not matter if it is bank card or bitcoins card. I will be using standard paper money, and in the future when it will become reality and bitcoin will be widely accepted everywhere a direct bitcoin transfer from my wallet.

In an ideal situation, we would be able to use bitcoin cards and actually have no bitcoin/fiat conversions, there cards may come in handy to some, but in the end theres that middle man again, and with him comes the fee, and that is why i dont like it. When u have situation that you have bitcoin wallet, and merchant is accepting bitcoins, then u have advancement, all this with debit cards is the same trick from the past, which brings little new offers to the table. cheers

The fee is the main issue here. When it is reduced to below visa or master, I will use it.
That'll only ever happen if the business wants to give away free coins and/or go out of business. Visa/MasterCard will charge fees as would be expected and usually the business providing the card will too. Of course, fees can be lowered by certain amounts! how low can it go? bit-x.com cards have ridiculously high fees of 0.01btc+mastercard fees for POS transactions. Imagine going to purchase a coffee at your local starbucks and you have to spend $7 and 0.01BTC($2)+mastercard fees just for a cup of coffee. this is the main thing why people aren't that interested in a bitcoin debit card.
