What is the forum's opinion on Bitcoin debit cards? Would you use it, why or why not?
What for? Some card available on the market: Bit-X Bitcoin Debit Card ANX Prepaid CardXapo Debit VisaAdvCash Prepaid Card.Debit: Funds are taken from your wallet on the site offering the card. No need to fund it manually. Once you pay for something, BTC is exchanged instantly at the time of payment, not before or after (you won't lose money due to the volatile exchange rate). Prepaid: Funds must be loaded by the user manually. Funds are converted once loaded so you may lose money due to the volatile exchange rate. 3 Bitcoin Debit Cards up for Giveaway - Now On!

I would use them if the fees were low but not otherwise. In an ideal world I would rather just use bitcoin directly, though.

I don't use any kinda debit card issued by (especially*) mastercard or visa. We're using bitcoin because of decentralization and those cards are kicking us back to central banks. What's the point that card? I'm not dependant only bitcoin. Of course I'm using my local currency, and I'm gonna use it (till bitcoin is accepted widely). especially mastercard: As we know mastercard ceo's speech about bitcoin ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bO4jHXjCXw8 ) . One day they can say something like that: "hey dudes I 've decided to terminate all bitcoin related service usages, If you got paid via an Exchange etc those money will not be transferred to you".

Fees are not that high in my opinion for some cards, others have very high fees. Hopefully they can be reduced even further one day! Verification is compulsory according to AML and KYC laws and regulations, however be assured that all data is safe with companies like https://bit-x.com, Once you pay for something using Bit-X's Debit MasterCard™ for example, the BTC is exchanged instantly at the time of payment, not before or after (you won't lose money due to the volatile exchange rate). the problem is not they are not that high(well some yes are high) but there are too many type of fee, like inactive monthly fee, really? some of them seems unnecessary, just added to suck money also for all members that carry signature, are issuance and activation fee, removed? do i need to activated anyway my card?

The ability to spend (actually use) one's Crypto balance is something the needs to be available. At this moment in time, many companies do not accept BTC/LTC, thus having a stepping stone to full crypto acceptance in the form of a Bitcoin MasterCard is key.

I just wanted to go and say "hey, my signature campaign is currently offering one" and then I saw that it's actually you - the person running that very campaign I find the idea interesting, I don't like paying FIAT amounts with BTC when BTC is this volatile (and low), though :/

The only real Bitcoin debit card is Coinkite. All of the others mentioned here are just fiat debit cards that happen to exchange from a Bitcoin account when used. You're still paying in dollars.

I would definitely use a BTC debit card. In my country, the actual places where you can spend BTC are very rare and using this card is the only way to spend without going through banks and converting into fiat. I am contemplating of ordering one of these soon.
On the other hand, fees are the major issue, especially that inactivity fee. What is that, the issue wants to make me spend my own money even if I do not need anything? I think that one needs to be removed ASAP. Regarding verification, I have no problem with that. Only people who have something to hide or deal with some illegal activities are afraid of that.

Yeah, but it's bridging a gap. Maybe people like to hold their money in BTC... Maybe they feel safer doing so (political reasons!? economical reasons!?) I think it's important to just go and try it out. Let's see what happens.

isn't this just an online wallet? better to use blockcahin.info instead, the point of converting in fiat is that many people still are not so accustomed to bitcoin, and there are many service that accept bitcoin yet

I would use a Bitcoin Debit Card like a Xapo or a Bit-X one, but unfortunately I don't think they ship to the good ole USA.
If they did, I'd put away my bank card for awhile and use it in a heartbeat...

I do actually like the idea and it would make it easier to cash out quick if needed, also it would start to give you reason to put more fiat into Bitcoin knowing that you can get it back instantly if needed pay bills etc a nice step closer to ideal.
Have not checked the fee's yet that could be a put off but hopefully they are not to extreme. Thanks op i will look into this further hopefully they can ship to me in the UK.

I would right now, if I would have an amount of Bitcoin that matters - which I don't. In my country the only good exchange FROM Bitcoin was shut down a few months ago.
I'll be honest, I didn't check what are the fees; if the fees are big indeed I would also look for alternatives. But yeah, right now I don't need all this. I have to get bitcoin first.

isn't this just an online wallet? They also provide both a debit card and a POS terminal: https://coinkite.com/store/products/allPlease note that I've never used them. I don't know how trustworthy they are.
