This is NOT the Coinbase that operates www.coinbase.com.

This is at best a Ponzi scam that is using the coinbase name and email spam to trick foolish greedy people into giving away their bitcoins.

More than likely, it's just a straight up send us your bitcoins so we can immediately disappear with them scam, and not even a ponzi.

You should definitely avoid such emails in general. You could get infected through them.
Especially avoid those that want funds or details to be sent to them.

Bitcoin-based ventures have recently become a safe heaven for con-artists and scammers. It is impossible to educate everyone about these type of scam attempts. Obviously hundreds, if not thousands might have already lost their hard earned cash by now.  Huh

This is scam and mail is not from Coinbase. Coinbase sent email to the clients with explanations and they denied any connection with this investment offer.

Coinbase will become a target now, as they grow bigger and bigger... there are already people claiming that their accounts have been hacked.

Source : http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/324lh3/apparently_my_coinbase_account_was_hacked_not/

There are also some disgruntled people out there, who was kicked out of Coinbase, due to it's strict application of KYC and AML and they could drive this too.

Why would they want to offer a service like this? They have enough investment capital and a steady income from it's operation.

I can't find anything related to it stated anywhere on the official coinbase website. Also if you happen to be at the reddit subforum, there is already an on-going discussion warning users against clicking any link to leads you the investment site. It's a clear cut example of a possible scam.

Think about it.
If everyone invests by sending to the same address, then how would they know who sent how much?

Thanks for clarification. Before I ended reading I was already thinking "obvious ponzi is obvious" and hoping it wasn't a legitimate Coinbase offer, since as far as I know I respect that brand a lot.

I find it really funny that Op posted this here and was not sure whether it is real or not. But after first fast glance at this message from "coinbase" I can tell that these conditions are so surrealy insane that either coinbase went rogue and are trying to scam everyone or this is some sort of fake coinbase/scam attempt. Knowing that it is not from coinbase.com is assuring. I just hope there won't be many idiots who will fell for it.
