I think my miner was running 250-ish before my test with the other miner.

What miner do you use to get 250-ish?

fast hardware.

I managed 124 with a seriously overclocked AMD 9590, so two of those would do the job. Good value CPU too

AMDs are way to go,

1055t - 66 khs i can found them very cheap used with mobos and ram in my country best buy cpu for mining magis around 50$ for used one.

I'm in the PoM campaign already, but now I have to have some downtime for maintentance. My CPU started to get hot, (over 90C) I'll have to shut down for a couple of hours. Does this influence my participation in the campaign or not?
I have already stopped the miner but the CPU doesn't want to go under 50C. Therefore I must shut down because it's a serious anomaly.

Ok, thanks. As you can see I'm already back online. CPUTIN sensor 50C at peak load, Core sensors stable 40C at peak load. Idle is 20C with this big hunk of aluminum.
Something clogged the heatsink and lint buildup on the fan didn't allow full RPM so there was no airflow. New thermal paste, dust blown out, all done in one hour. Ninja fix

Dang!

I knew there was a reason why I put "Caution - this software makes your CPU run hot - please make sure your CPU heatsink and cooling fan are clean and free of dust" in the startup header for my miner software.

I could not, for the life of me, remember why I put that there

Edit: If you did not use Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra, you did it wrong

That should be possible. Remember the overall limit of 250 Kh/s on the POM pool though. If you are likely to exceed this figure, you should consider directing the "spare" hashpower at one of the other pools.
