Satoshi: "You should never delete a wallet"

Maybe you used an address somewhere in the forum and forgot about it.

Then some day Satoshi wakes up and send 1000 BTC to some addresses he find randomly here in the forum.


But you lost your private keys. So you can't take your 1000 BTC and gets depressed and lost your job and all bitcoins you have.


So better backup all your old addresses so you don't risk the destruction of your life

It's literally impossible that satoshi "lost his coins". The creator of BTC would never make the mistake of not having enough diversified backups. He's just keeping his coins and not moving them around, that's all.

Are you sure? Nobody knows if he lost or not his mined bitcoin. All the posts here are only supposition about satoshi, and it is normal to think he doesn't lost his bitcoins (but I am not sure of this thing).

Are you sure? Nobody knows if he lost or not his mined bitcoin. All the posts here are only supposition about satoshi, and it is normal to think he doesn't lost his bitcoins (but I am not sure of this thing).

Im also 100% sure that he never lost his coins. He's on this for the very long term, he create Bitcoin and predicted everything thus far (including the blocksize problem, the mining centralization etc). He knows things will turn out ok, and he never intended to sell but to live inside the btc ecosystem (becuase at some point we will not need to sell, it will be a very used currency).
Im pretty sure he has addresses that we do not know of, and uses these to buy everything he needs, while keeping that address frozen.

Leaving conspiracy theories out of the question, this is really sound advice. I have never deleted a wallet myself, always make a copy. I've got like 10 wallet.dat files that I always copy when I update my QT.

i don't think he own that much bitcoins right now, and no one has wallet address of satoshi that are supposed to holding thousands of BTC

AFAIK he created a new address for each of the block rewards he got.
So I don't think it's possible to find a single address with all that coins.
If it was it would have appeared in the Bitcoin Top 10 rich list by now.

because, when an wallet is empty and when you manage fund internally ... keep a wallet is useless.

when you are free writer with a bitcoin signature donation ... yes, you MUST don't destroy the wallet !
because, article may survive a couple of decade (and pay you retirement).

This is one of the few reasons why I do not believe him, I think he only want some btc in donation.

Yes, of course. Because it was normal to create an address for each transaction, also for a question of privacy and anonymity. I think he has a wallet wit a 'lot of address' or a couple of wallet (who knows?).

Wow! that's an amazing thread. So , we know that those old BTC address which have not been moved since long , still belongs with Satoshi if he is alive or maybe he passed them onto someone There's a great chance that he might not be alive , since i really believe he wouln't abandon bitcoin so easily . I have acctually never thought of it like that... I hope all the people who act like grassholes, will consider this thought too... It takes nothing from you to be good to other.

IF I was him/her, I would not go for a 1000 BTC airdrop .... I would rather go for a smaller amount.. say 10 BTC per person. {That way, I put a smile on 100 000 people, not just 1000}

I have acctually never thought of it like that... I hope all the people who act like grassholes, will consider this thought too... It takes nothing from you to be good to other.
