That's right! There are now literally hundreds of people who have missed the entire point of the Pirate bet (Don't accuse people. harass them, and pretend you know what you're talking about) and have now begun to harass me, thinking I don't have even 1,000BTC and that I'm -only- risking my forum account. That's just ignorant.

So it seems I have to impose another FUD tax on the community. I will prove I have over 1,000BTC freely available to me. If you do not believe this will happen, place your bets here in the following format:

Code:
20BTC
13dSK4663Ts7j2PwHS1eUVjycKLBwx7PJM
Optional comment

I will be accepting up to 100BTC in bets. When the 100BTC is reached, I will prove that I have over 1,000BTC to my person and you will lose the bet. If I cannot, then the entire community would know if I was going to scam them in this bet thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=103059

Let the games begin!

This can be the start of a whole genre of bets against self awareness.  A bet against what a person knows about themselves.  Anyone want to bet 50 BTC against me that I am not a robot.  I show my non-robot passport and you will loose.  Conversely, if you can reveal my electro-mechanical inner workings then I will loose.

Exactly! It's it brilliant? I propose we impose this FUD Tax constantly.

If I reveal what I think are your electromechanical inner workings and it ends up that I'm wrong, we both lose.

Can I bet even if I don't have the 100 BTC?

Of course you can. You just need to find 100BTC when it comes time to pay...

...or be labelled a scammer.

Wouldn't it be better to prove you have 100% of the bet amount rather than 10% ?  Wink

I propose a 'cool-off' feature, so that some posters who's got twitches to post that 'post'-button can have say a 1hr 'cool-off' period from the forum at times.

So, if someone get's enough 'cool-off'-clicks from other forum members (which all need more than 500 posts), then the receiver of the cool-off period needs to take a break.

Seriously, if attention is what you want Matthew, perhaps you should sign up for the Big Brother reality show ? Would be a cool way to spread the word about Bitcoin btw. Wink

It's called being bothering Theymos and getting someone banned. lol

Apologies for the insanity recently, I get that way when I go without sleep. I'm good now.

i'd say if someone bets copious amounts on the forum there should be a bot/person taking the btc into escrow or the thread gets locked.

and i have to agree what exactly does it prove if you show 1000 btc if the bet sum is 10000 btc?

You missed a link in the chain: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=103059

The intermediate bet was discussed for a while, until somebody made the challenge about the ability to pay out on the 1,000 - hence _this_ bet.

Anyone with a campaign ad in their signature -- for an organization with which they are not otherwise affiliated -- is automatically deducted credibility points.

I will bet on the condition that if anyone offers proof, then you win the bet.

Code:
−1000 BTC

As this amount is less than 100 BTC, I assume the bet is valid.

I will bet, but the only proof I will accept is the bitcoins being sent to this bitcoin address 1HhkSkxNXXPKB89mPxsrXuBTkrbyBBBo7q for a thorough investigation into their authenticity.  Upon receiving the coins and verifying that they are indeed authentic, I will send you your prize.
