According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Huge success for Blockchain in main Italian Television RAI
Great success last friday night for #Codice, the first Italian TV program entirely focused on Blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The one-hour show was on the main channel, Rai Uno, at 11.30 pm and registered 9.22% share of total viewing, reaching the 1st position in the Italian most popular hashtags list in Twitter for that night.

Helperbit enables Bank Card donations with Blockchain traceability
Helperbit announces that partnered up with Mistral Pay Ltd and The Rock Trading Ltd. The collaboration enables Helperbit to widen donation traceability services by adding a new payment method, but maintaining transparency and monitoring provided by the blockchain.

This new solution can boost the widespread adoption of blockchain for transparency purposes, even for people who are not practical with these new technologies but who have a Credit, Debit, or Prepaid Card.

Read the first post and then decided to look a bit down the path, the idea was probably very original at the time of posting. Must admit I'm surprised to see how far it has come. From website, I see a lot of awards but not a single organisation mentioned? Perhaps these partnerships are yet to begin?

What is most interesting was the blog post regarding your work in the wake of the recent Italian earthquake. My commendations, by the way! But what I would like to know more here.

Are you able to provide more information on the Legambiente case study? I come from a non-profit career, working especially in natural disaster and conflict. Especially directly on the ground in the early days of the emergency, most organisations suffer from poor accountability. This is most painfully apparent months and years after the operation, when donors are demanding for accurate and transparent accounting and reporting - which most local standards fail to meet.

Are you someone I could contact for more info? We can follow this up in PM, if you prefer.

Hi buwaytree,

thank you for commenting.

In our blog you can find all the announcements of new partnerships. Recently we partned up with The Rock Trading and Mistral Pay and the tool that allows people to donate with credit and debit card is already active here: https://helperbit.com/donateit; while the partnership with Flyp.me has been announced in both our social media channels.
In the non-profit sector, Legambiente is the only NGO that has an active project, but other NGOs has access to our platform (now in private mode) and will launch soon their projects/fundraisings.

What is most interesting was the blog post regarding your work in the wake of the recent Italian earthquake. My commendations, by the way! But what I would like to know more here.

You can find more info about our case study with Legambiente in our blog: Helperbit supports Legambiente to raise funds for the earthquake reconstruction; Norcia protagonist of transparency; A step towards transparency and an help for Alessia.
This is the official charity campaign lead by Legambiente (in Italian) http://rinascitacuoregiovane.it and this is their announcement when we started the collaboration: http://rinascitacuoregiovane.it/oggi-le-donazioni-bitcoin-grazie-alla-startup-italiana-helperbit/

I agree with your vision. Your experience in non-profit sector highlights many problems and I think that they could be faced thanks to blockchain technology.

Are you someone I could contact for more info? We can follow this up in PM, if you prefer.
Write an email to info@helperbit.com.

Thank you for the reply, sorry that I missed it earlier and only saw this now going through old posts.

I've looked up the Legambiente case study on the links you provided and it was that earlier reading that led to my interest. What I would be really keen to look into are the exact details of the transparency enabled by blockchain - in particular the way aid is channeled and how that feeds into the auditing and financial management. I have some ideas myself about how that might work, but my immediate concern was for how blockchain access and updating would have happened in the field at the height of emergency. As communications networks are normally down. Bitcoin in this case allowed people to see exactly where the money was sent to, but does not continue down past project level to activity level (normally where transparency is most difficult).

In any case, I will write to the email address provided. Thanks!
