Up to now people that want to donate for an emergency cannot properly monitor the money flow of their donations, indeed the percentage of money that effectively arrive to who need it is often unknown. On the other side local civil protection organizations, municipalities and single citizens in many cases have to wait months or even years to receive contributes. So why don’t use Bitcoin in these fileds? Helperbit will put in contact who can be affected by a natural disaster with whom empathize with him, offering a geographical information system platform that help both the victim and the donator. Helperbit is a bitcoin-based platform, this means that the system is 100% transparent, quick and efficient. We are working on the Alpha version and soon we will need testers that will take part into some simulations to check the platform performance. Read the first post and then decided to look a bit down the path, the idea was probably very original at the time of posting. Must admit I'm surprised to see how far it has come. From website, I see a lot of awards but not a single organisation mentioned? Perhaps these partnerships are yet to begin?
What is most interesting was the blog post regarding your work in the wake of the recent Italian earthquake. My commendations, by the way! But what I would like to know more here.
Are you able to provide more information on the Legambiente case study? I come from a non-profit career, working especially in natural disaster and conflict. Especially directly on the ground in the early days of the emergency, most organisations suffer from poor accountability. This is most painfully apparent months and years after the operation, when donors are demanding for accurate and transparent accounting and reporting - which most local standards fail to meet.
Are you someone I could contact for more info? We can follow this up in PM, if you prefer.

I've looked up the Legambiente case study on the links you provided and it was that earlier reading that led to my interest. What I would be really keen to look into are the exact details of the transparency enabled by blockchain - in particular the way aid is channeled and how that feeds into the auditing and financial management. I have some ideas myself about how that might work, but my immediate concern was for how blockchain access and updating would have happened in the field at the height of emergency. As communications networks are normally down. Bitcoin in this case allowed people to see exactly where the money was sent to, but does not continue down past project level to activity level (normally where transparency is most difficult). Wondering why there is no Russian and Chinese translations of Helperbit website. In our charity project being developed right now we will use English, Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese and Russian translations, with more languages in near future.
At the moment we can't afford the support of more languages, therefore we are focused only on English, Spanish and Italian. For sure, we will take into account Russian and Chinese for the next developments. Hello, this is layer1gfx - a professional German Translator with long experience in the bitcoin space. I'm sorry I didn't know about this charity before, because I would definitely send a donation. If anyone has information on some new fundraising for Italy or some other country, just post it here.
When my country was hit by an earthquake recently, Italy was the first country to send aid - which is amazing considering the situation in their country.👍🇮🇹

Checking in after a while, always good to see you guys progress -- I actually read quite a bit of coverage on the Italian Red Cross work with Helperbit elsewhere on the web, and there's really growing interest now for more provably transparent methods of funding charities.
Love the Bitcoin display on the Ambulance. Think this has to be the best Bitcoin visibility I've seen in a while!
