Well the miners definitely appreciate this. I'm going to assume that someone made a mistake while sending a transaction. This has happened in the past, nothing new. It's easier to type 100 instead of 0.100 than you think.

I think the wallet app should warn for abnormal very large transaction fee or even don't allow it.

I think the wallet app should warn for abnormal very large transaction fee or even don't allow it. Seems the problem was because of some error at BitGo's end. Here is more details from the victim... https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/33u2id/help_losing_over_85_btc_because_of_bitgos_flawed/Ethically AntPool may return the amount.

sure... "Ethically" they should be.. Probably they will be... BitMain/AntPool and BitGo are in contact wrt resolving this erroneous transaction fee. BitGo's CTO personally contacted me and has assured the loss will be recovered. A rep for BitMain has also expressed confidence that the excess fee will be returned.

I think the wallet app should warn for abnormal very large transaction fee or even don't allow it. Well you should suggest it. That would be a nice safety feature, because if the block gets mined by 'unknown' one can forget about his money. I think a warning would be more appropriate. Like a box asking you to confirm when the fee is very high.

It does not make next new block generation be faster, but just affects miners whether to include your transaction into next block to be generated. I think high transaction fee should be disallowed in wallet app to prevent money loss from typo or other careless mistakes

I think it is really necessary and can prevent this type of mistake.
