I'm going to copy your idea nearly word-for-word and post it in this exact subforum, but without charging commission. I will then see how long it takes for thread to be recognized. This is experimental and I will never do this again, and yes, I know I'm a douche.

no you're not. thank you This post confused me. Are you saying that I'm not a douche or that I won't post it? Because it's a little late for the second option.

You shouldn't use a single address, as anyone can watch the wallet on blockexplorer and claim the ticket purchases.

I was curious about the randomness of your method so just for fun, I crawled their site and created a distribution: Last digit : frequency0:213 1:2272:203 3:222 4:223 5:1916:207 7:214 8:205 9:219

Would a decent method be to look at a block that will be mined in the future, and use the last digit in it's hash? For example block #1337 http://blockexplorer.com/b/1337Has the block hash of 000000008bf44a528a09d203203a6a97c165cf53a92ecc27aed0b49b86a19564 which ends in 4

Prize determination:The price will go to the person purchasing the ticket # corresponding to the last # of the total number of shares it took to solve a block on OzCoin.net:http://ozcoin.net/content/block-history-bitcoinAfter all tickets are sold, the next day the first block solved will be the block to decide via the number of shares it took to solve. Tickets are numbered 0-9 I suggest you specify a exactly period of time, e.g. "after 31/08/2012 23:59". Once you do it, publish here and I will hash your terms to settle the winner.

Is that correct or am I mistaken? In the case that my understanding is correct, couldn't the following happen?: - Pool operator entirely fakes the share number to rig a contest
- Pool operator only displays a fake share number on their website (but uses the real one in the distribution calculations)
- Pool's website is compromised by an attacker and displays a fake share number
- The pool shuts down (so there is no share number). Whatever you chose as a replacement, wasn't agreed upon when the users entered the drawing.
