An arrest warrant was issued against Bryan Micon in Las Vegas Justice Court on Monday on one count of operating an unlicensed interactive gaming system. The charge carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.

It's not just that the USA is a police state.... It's actually the licenced casino's ganging up against the unlicensed casino's.

I would also be frustrated, if I had to pay millions in licensing fee's and the competition comes in and pays NO fees, and still operate.

My conspiracy theory : His operation was tipped off, by his competition.

He should have learned something from the "Seals With Clubs" bust and he did not... He just moved his operation to a NEW domain. {  SwCPoker.eu } and this pizzed them off.

Move to one of the islands next time, like the others did... and exclude US players, to be safe.  Grin

It's a shame it has come to this as he seemed like a good guy but if you want to do this sort of thing you need to either play by the rules or make yourself hidden.

I doubt anyone was tipped off. He wasn't exactly hiding what he was doing so is understandable if he hasn't got a license. Would you think a doctor practicing without a license was taken down by the police state? Sometimes regulations are there for a reason whether we like them or not.

Why wouldn't you think that a doctor practicing without a licence will have that position threatened by a police state? The regulation is there for a reason; to protect the consumer from being able to buy competitive healthcare. It does zero to protect them from unscrupulous doctors.

If a license for anything improves the behaviour and motivations of those that are deemed by a state to need one, then it is only in the acquiring and maintenance of the license. If you could magically make the process of getting and keeping the license the exact same thing as behaving responsibly while using it, then the arguments in favor would make sense. What we all live under is simply a thinly veiled protection racket.

Because the police arrive at your gambling house and forcibly prevent it from operating? Police arresting people for non-criminal behaviour is pretty much the definition of a police state

Non-victimful, since practically every victimless action, not in compliance with one or more licensing schemes, short of breathing (but not for much longer, I fear) is "criminal" in the US.

Saying that you don't trust someone because of their behavior is completely valid.

He's not charged with breaking any Federal laws. It's the AG from the State of Nevada that filed the charges.

Sorry, we misspoke. Replace "US Fed" with "American government."

Yet another negative / criminal association with Bitcoin in the media. If there was a PR rep for Bitcoin, he'd quit his job.

What "blatant crimes"? What are the charges alleging that he victimized anyone?

He deprived the State of Nevada their licensing fees, control over his operation, and any bribes and kickbacks they might be entitled to.

So the gambling Casinos are trying to crackdown on free compared to them services
Sounds about right time for Micon to move to a friendly gambling jurisdiction (I hear Havana is friendly these days  Wink)
(For those that don't get that joke look up the history of Vegas + Cuba)
