Hi everyone,
I am a chinese poker player / finance/ law student. I was very sad when Pokerstars shutdown to people in the USA. I am currently studying Finance/ law at the University of Chicago.
I was doing very well on Pokerstars over a long stretch of sample size (500k hands >).
There is a new bitcoin poker room and the action there seems to be quite good, and I feel i have a very good edge on most people there, especially heads up.
I am willing to give up a very healthy % of my profits to those that are willing to invest in me for bitcoin poker.

I played on Poker Stares until Black Friday. They still owe me 350 bucks. What is unclear is whether or not you were playing real or play money. both were options. I myself rolled a 1 thousand dollar stake into over $500,000 in play money, only to find that the real money games were much harder. if you are a winning real money poker player, you shouldn't need to get staked by anyone unless you spent your roll elsewhere. If you are a play money winner, backing you is riskier.

There are actually tons of real money players that play backed. Whole forums devoted to it in fact. It's a way to mitigate the variance that comes with playing. You give up some of your potential return in exchange for the reduced risk of not using your own capital. It's also good as an investor/player because it lets you utilize a part of your BR that you need to protect yourself from the variance in your own play, but don't actually need to play all the time. |

how is that possible? how could they still owe you 350$? they have cashed me out after black friday, not a problem! and they gave me a bonus! here is the proof  |

OP have you considered looking for staking on Parttimepoker.com, DonkeyFarm, ChipMeUp or TwoPlusTwo? Those sites are already well setup to do poker staking. They will also ask you for evidence of your playing ability.... usually a screenshot on sharkscope and/or a link to your stats on an independant stats tracking website.
Typically you're going to have to provide much more information before people will back you.
If you want a large chunk of change then try BAP on PartTimePoker. Or put together a solid plan and sell shares on GLBSE

As the OP wants to play in Bitcoin poker rooms though (and assuming they are Bitcoin ONLY, so not bound to USD exchange rates) GLBSE might be a very good option.

Thats why I suggested it. I think it would be really cool to back a player in bitcoin poker on there. I might even buy a few shares . What sort of stake are we talking about here ? |

His problem is that he's stuck in the US and can't play on Stars. PTP etc aren't really going to be of much help to him unless he wants to set up new accounts at the few remaining US facing sites, which I would be a bit hesitant to do considering there days are maybe numbered for US players as well. I do kind of like the idea of a GLBSE issue. Definitely need to see some stats though. Got any PT/HEM screen shots you could show us? Is there even enough traffic on the BTC poker site to make this worth the effort? |

Pokerstars and other top sites do regularly stake, well rather just pay them to play, their professionals...but the problem is there are so few players on the bitcoin poker site that it would be unfair and a conflict of interest to back known winning players. Not saying you are a known winning player :p |
