Or not.

But suppose for a second that she was, knowing the geek culture she would have been sensible enough to use a male pseudonym to get the necessary credibility from the community.

Some people might have other information, but as long as we don't know the possibility cannot be ruled out.

A female cryptographer with libertarian philosophical leanings would not have to create a pseudonym for credibility, she'd have to create a pseudonym to stay anonymous from all the geek men that would be hitting on her.

Sigh. I wish Ayn Rand was around to see Bitcoin.

hahaha I'm starting a cryptography class on Monday, I'll let you know how many girls are there

EDIT: I checked my classlist, it's 100% dudes judging by first names. Although there is someone named "Oleg", I'm sort of iffy on that one, but I'm betting it's a guy.

Sigh. I wish Ayn Rand was around to see Bitcoin.

She'd be applauding pirate's ingenuity.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

You'd probably be dissapointed. She wasn't nearly as rational or philosophically consistent in her personal life as the characters she wrote about.

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.”  -John Rogers

It also cannot be ruled out that Satoshi is a pseudonym for a secret society of crypto-loving nymphomaniac females.  In fact, I'd consider that to be the most likely possibility not covered by the New Yorker article Wink

Oh yeah,

and it would be pretty awesome if SN was female, but... it's statistically unlikely. And Oleg is a male name Smiley
