I for one can't wait to get my certified letter in the mail.. btw pirate do you know where i live?

Yeah, how is Pirate going to communicate through certified mail when he doesn't even know where everybody is?

This. I don't get this. Why didn't he ask for an address for each person?

Because he's not smart enough.....but I'm sure he will if/when reese and gigavps come running to suck him off his rescue, after seeing this post.

This exactly...

Here here!  Today is indeed a tough day for everybody who's been accepting money pseudonomysly without any accountability and surely they need our support.  And their vocal alts deserve our support as well.  Those people with silly names who have been legitimately searching for business partners with their ventures which unfortunately seem like amateur copycat email spam from the early 90s.  Our collective hearts go out to them, now more than ever!

"They need our support."  Seriously!  Why not just pick a funny sounding ticker on GLBSE and send a few coins to help the cause?  Its on the internet right?  We like the internet!  Look there are pictures of hot girls here!

Especially those operators selling assets with lots of ARRRRRs from boats.  And all those poor operators in the "lending" forum of this highly trusted venue whose names are now ever so slightly tarnished.  Because when I am trying to give my money to a totally unaccountable anonymous person I am thankful when another person can offer to take it first with a further layer of complete zero accountability, this is a valuable service and that some of these folks offered to charge me only a small amount of money for this valuable service my heart goes out to them.

And of course, we have to thank everyone involved who is candid enough to discuss endlessly the sorry exposition of sadly predictable psychology with zero professionalism and without giving any sign that they regret anyone's loss or have learned anything.  Thanks for that!  Stay strong folks, don't give money back to anyone or information to anyone, just continue intense amateurish neurotic posting here with many accounts until this website collapses under the strain.

This. I don't get this. Why didn't he ask for an address for each person?

Because if you read closely, pirateat40 was telling goat(and just goat) that all communication from goats' lawyer or goat himself to pirateat40s' lawyer would need to be made by certified mail.

<Chaang-Noi> pirate, can you make your lawyers phone number public? i want to have somethings confirmed.
<pirateat40> Chaang-Noi, those details will be available on Friday and all communication will be by certified mail.

It seems to me you guys already forgot about goats' pissing contests with Nefario and MtGox... Roll Eyes
Exactly the same M.O. now with this one.

Depending on how this goes down, it may be time to find a lawyer who understands bitcoin, and take collective legal action.

I will be complying.  My PPT only ran for ~2 weeks, shortly after the trust account announcement as a way to get/keep 7% on the bit I had invested.  My 'subs' were all internal transfers, so releasing the 'who' isn't damaging in any regard because the information is actually already well known to pirate.  The only thing that changed is some mining income for one or two of my 'subs' which is actually fairly small in the grand scheme of things.  I've spoken with most of my subs already, them having reached out to me, and they've all been ok with my forwarding of information.

Well, I hope it all works out in that case, as I really DO see a 'bargaining' about to commence.....for repay as well as legal freedom Wink
the bargaining is good for the legal position of anybody not bargaining as the bargain is an admission of liability by the bargainer.

GPUMAX owing BTC to Miners - 500 BTC / 3-4 days

BTCST owing to Lenders - 500,000 BTC / 2 weeks

...so it stands to reason why GPUMAX had a payment update from Pirate today in IRC, while the rest of us suckers are still out in the cold.
It's all about priorities, details and responsibility !

Can someone please tell me why Pirate now needs these details???

A list of marks is a handy thing to have for a scammer. Or when they refuse then he'll say "Oh well I tried...". He never needed this information to run the business, not sure why he needs it to close down the business.

Or maybe he's a Man in Black sent to take down bitcoin, and they want some names to add to their database. [/tinfoil]

Can someone please tell me why Pirate now needs these details???

.....just send him all the details, so he dosen't have another excuse to say that all did not comply.

^ The statement above is in contradiction to one of (pirateat40's) Trendon's ORIGINAL RULES WHEN MANY OF OUR ACCOUNTS WERE SETUP.

Loosely quoted (as PIRATE has since deleted all traces of it....)
Quote
...if you borrow or invest other user's money into my program, I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT, OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR ACCOUNT...I ONLY DEAL WITH DIRECT ACCOUNT HOLDERS !

Withholding such information at this point CLEARLY suits the rules and regulations Trendon initially set our accounts up with and the forum administration could very well reach back into page revisions and pull THAT statement out of this were to ever become a legal issue, or his so-called 'grounds' for REFUSING TO RE-PAY LENDERS.

bitlane you are magic, so this is potentially a "fully legal" ponsi, where lender him/herself would break a contract by supplying information about their account/s, and their account would be invalid.  Or am I the only other one that finds this point interesting? Very good!

bitlate do you have original post/link?

This might be a reason, but may as well be a bit far fetcheted, but makes for an interesting thought.

the bargaining is good for the legal position of anybody not bargaining as the bargain is an admission of liability by the bargainer.

Its called settlement and it occurs all the time without admission of guilt.  There are times where its better to settle than it is to have everything get blown up and the lawyers take an even bigger cut.

Assuming that his aim is to cover his ass to the maximum legal extent possible and that he is actually planning on making some kind of payment and not just stalling, his lawyer would be advising him to make payment directly to the people who are actually owed the money.  Pirate cannot pretend that the PPT operators are the people who are owed the money - there's far too much evidence of him knowing that the PPT operators were investing other people's funds.  Returning the funds directly bypasses the risk of the funds not being returned to the actual investors.

My guess is that he's expecting this to end up in court at some point and doing everything possible to minimise the chances that any kind of conspiracy between him and the PPT operators could be established.  A court would almost certainly order that he return funds to the investors rather than the PPT operators so it's likely his lawyers are advising him to do just that.  Whether the PPT operators who don't forward the requested information will get thrown under a bus is something we'll have to wait to find out.

I'd be extremely cautious if he's unwilling to disclose the name and contact details of his lawyer, though.  Private information is best sent to someone who is legally obligated to use it only for a specific purpose.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

I would happily pay double just to see Trendon's ass in jail, after his performance over the past 2 weeks.

It's now time to let your PPT OP 'down from his cross' and allow him/her/it to DEFEND the integrity of this community.

Thats how it should be defended by you and payb.tc :

As bitcoinmax always stated, your coins are lost !, as Trendon Shavers shaves us all.

In case the defaulted entity BCST is assuming its liabilities to bitcoinmax or pays out
any amount to bitcoinmax, all principal investments are payed back evenly up to the
amount deposited.  The gained interest of all accounts is put in escrow until further notice.

If bitcoinmax liabilities to you are not fully covered by this proceedure and in case
BCST pays zilch, i payb.tc, will pact with bitlane to recover what is being able to recover
from Trendon Shavers.

The interest which i accrued during operation of bitcoinmax up to date is given back to recover
your principal investments.

As far as it stands, pirate has not option neither right to get your data or information
through my hands.

Seeing forward to provide further investment possibilities to you in the future.

Please comment

Yours sincerely..........

Yours sincerely..........

to be clear: i am not the author of the above text, and don't know who is.

I added some bolding because it gets lost, but basically, he was giving you your statement.

no offence to zyk, but he can hardly string an english sentence together, so i doubt he wrote the above passage.

hence, i still don't know who the author is.

It reads like it was written by someone whose first, second and third languages aren't English.

All I can say is that this is Bitcoin. I don't believe it until I see six confirmations.

Support hahaha
What I see happened is that pirate did warn that there were no guarantees and there were plenty of others warning of a scam that got ridiculed severely.
Now we have a bunch of greedy people who got screwed over by a scammer whining.
I have not heard any of these victims talk about how this has tarnished the Bitcoin name. Did anyone have any thought into how much time and effort the developers and honest business folk are putting into Bitcoin to make it a better option for humanity and thus all of us in now profiting, just to have a bunch of selfish people taking the limelight once again of which the detractors love to focus on.
There would be far more society uptake of Bitcoin without the got to have it all now greed.
Those who want their BTC value to increase will never know just how much they have missed out on because of all the constant rip offs holding back a much larger populace of users starting the BTC journey.
The only thing to kill Bitcoin will be greed.
