More than 50,000 families have been silently shipped out of London boroughs in the past three years, an investigation by The Independent can reveal.

Leaked documents obtained by this newspaper expose the true scale of the “social cleansing” taking place across the capital as a result of welfare cuts and soaring rents. The figures show an unprecedented number of families who cannot afford to find homes in their local area being uprooted from their neighbourhoods and dumped further and further away from the capital, cut off from their relatives and support networks.

“It’s the housing shortage that has created this crisis, and the only way to escape it for good is for the next government to build the affordable homes we so desperately need.”

As usual rather than looking at the root causes of the problem people are running around telling them the very govenment that ordered this to go and fix it for them, because of course, Labour would never do that right? Tongue

I wonder how many families and others are using the Internet, encryption and something like the conspiracy methods found in Robert Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress to start their own government behind the scenes... one that will ultimately take down the crooked governments of the world.

Unfortunately that how modern world work - you either have money and live with moderate/high standards or you are to poor to afford a good life and need to move out of the way for someone else. This also shows that UK's economic growth is currently dropping and may stay that way for a bit longer.

So they are not being "shipped out", they are being priced out. What is the government supposed to do about that? Blight the city to keep rent low? Pay businesses to go elsewhere so that the slums can be maintained? Maybe a Detroit model of governance?

Be happy you have this problem.

No surprise there. London is fast becoming the no.1 refuge for members of various mafias, including the Russian mafia and various Italian cartels. These people are buying up all the available residential prices at a premium, forcing the natives to move out of the city. London's reputation as the money laundering capital of the world is fueling all this.
