This person claims to be the owner of blockchain.com: http://www.facebook.com/fannnnnnnnnewwI contacted them, agreed on a price in Bitcoins, but they: 1. Insisted that I pay the bitcoins first. 2. Refused to use an escrow service. 3. Refused to provide any proof that they actually own the domain. They also said many strange things during the Skype chat in regards to the domain. Does anyone know if this person is the real owner or if they can be trusted? This is exactly why people get scammed so often. This guy is screaming scammer, You should not even consider doing business with him. There is absolutely no legitimate reason he shouldn't prove he is the owner or use escrow and there are ways to do that without compromising his anonymity. Run the other way! Don't waste your Bitcoins because it'll be just throwing them down the drain.

That's been tried and even more than once I think. Do you think that if it were that easy, anyone would put up a $1000 bounty for it?

Well, I wasn't sure if it had been tried. Since it was not written explicitly. At least, I thought. "the owner of the contact address does not respond", almost explicit...
I've learned not to think too much for other people. Especially when free coins are involved.

Indeed it's not obvious for people who read just this thread, but there are a couple other threads regarding blockchain dot com, and it's been discussed on there. Perhaps an effort should be made to keep the discussion to a single thread, locking the others.

What kind of offer are you prepared to make for the domain? I don't own it, but I feel there would be a better response from the owner if someone were able to get a message through to them with some hard numbers, not just "please contact me".

It looks to me like the first post is a firm offer of $1,000 for the domain name and $500 for a verifiable introduction to the domain owner. $1,500 total

Sorry, was tired when reading this. Somehow I thought the 1500 was the bounty for getting the information of the owner. =/

I'm starting to suspect the owner is satoshi himself...
And if there's any truth to the rumors that he's dead, that would explain the lack of response...

My guess is that if they hadn't come forward by now then they probably will not. Which is sad as I love piuk's services. 😰

What's in a (domain) name? The service is just as good on the .info domain. I agree that they are solid.

In translation, Hi, here's something perfectly useless and banal I've spent fifty seconds on (only because I am retarded, normally it would take five). I refuse to put any thought into this (or anything else), but please consider me for a large windfall (at least comparatively to my meager means). Fucking Obama voters, where do they keep coming from? On topic: owner is Satoshi himself. You will never get this domain.

I don't see the malware, just usual parking page with ads. But you may be on to something. Cancellation of Registrations in the Event of Material Breach by the Registrant
If the registrant fails to respond "for over fifteen calendar days to inquiries by Registrar concerning the accuracy of contact details", then pursuant to RAA Subsection 3.7.7.2 the registrant is in "material breach" of its registration agreement with the registrar. That subsection also provides that "willful provision of inaccurate or unreliable information" shall constitute a material beach of the registration agreement. Under either of these circumstances, the RAA provides that the material breach of the registration agreement shall be "a basis for cancellation of the Registered Name registration."
http://www.icann.org/en/news/announcements/advisory-10may02-en.htmSo, if some deadbeat squatter who can't be bothered to respond to emails from their Registrar owns it, it might be possible to revoke the registration. I would say contact the registrar saying you don't get a response and suspect the contact info is inaccurate. Whether blockchain.info can guarantee they're the ones to receive it in that case, may be a different issue. Might also check with WhoisGuard to confirm they have been forwarding your attempts and haven't been getting bounced mails or something like that. Like other suggested solutions in the past, if it were this easy it probably would have already been done, but may as well throw it out there. Shame to see this domain name languish without even hearing of ridiculous demands for a $1million sale or something.
