Hi Chris, we all really appreciate your hard work which greatly helped the ppcoin market in its infancy.

Your work in the bitparking ppc exchange will always be remembered by the ppc community. Hope to see you again soon with other quality projects!

Vircurex is closed for up to a few days according to the twitter post while he upgrades to a dedicated server.

He must have been running it on a VPS or even worse, shared hosting.

I am a bit sad to see you shutdown your projects in the alt-coin world.

Your PPC exchange and pool really helped PPC in its infancy.

I can see where you are coming from. I have learned that projects of this type are much more work then most realize.

I wish you the best of luck and look forward to your future endeavors.

Do you have a link to this? If it's closed for a few days I'll keep my exchange open in the meantime until it reopens. I'd still recommend people not keep funds on the exchange though and transfer as needed.

Not only that.. if what used to be a couple hundred bucks of day worth of coins now becomes THOUSANDS... he doesnt want to take that risk and be "the next guy who had some sucky exchange that got hacked and lost people money"

he's getting out before bad things happen, and while it is sad espescially to see the pool close, it is understandable.

Exactly. It's gone from being able to cover something going wrong out of pocket to serious money that users financial stability depends on (from emails about the namecoin exchange I'm getting) very quickly. Were I to get into exchanges again I think it'd just be writing software and let someone else actually run/manage it. The software is the most interesting part for me anyway.

Sad to see the bitparking exchanges go, but very understandable. Best of luck doublec, anyone wanting to get into the exchange game would be smart to hire you.

Sad to see the end of this. PPC will miss you! Cry

For how long will users be able to withdraw their coins? Bearing in mind not everyone will read about the closure on the forums or check the Bitparking site, and even if they did not everyone has offline wallets, not everyone will know without logging in what their addresses are on Vircurex (which may be closed till next week), and I don't think there's a way to add a emergency withdrawal address after you have first set up the account so many people will not have been able to do so.

I'll keep the exchange operating for a couple of extra days to give Vircurex a chance to get back up. Once I close the trading engine I'll keep it up for withdrawals for a while then process the emergency withdrawal address. After that I'll have some simple interface for withdrawals operating until the exchange is empty. Worse case people can email admin@bitparking.com if they can't reach the site and I'll sort it out.

What pools are good now?  I'm having trouble with coinotron.  Is it worth solo mining at 700 MH?

Just as a reminder doublec I'd be happy to buy the services you're shutting down and take them over (or see someone else do the same) if that's something you'd consider. Or just support the exchanges and work with you. I definitely don't want to see them go away!

I sent you a PM as well, if you're not interested then kindly let me know and RIP bitparking exchanges!

I fully understand the reasons. But an improvement of security could be an alternative to shutdown the exchanges. Like demanding a code sent to the email to be entered for withdrawing (like bitcoin-24.com).
Well, if the decision is final, I hope you can sell the exchanges to someone trustworthy. I spent large amounts of bitcoins at your exchanges and I'll miss them.

The Rock Trading Exchange forges its order books with bots, uses them to scam customers and is trying to appropriate 35000 euro from a forum member https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4975753.0

If you're leaving, why not open source the trading and leave us the code? I understand your reasons for getting out, but the market still needs the diversity in exchanges that you brought. I hope you will consider it!
